Good episode. I got confused on Shiroe's plan so can someone put it in simple terms for me? :P

Looks like the major people next arc were introduced this episode. Why is there a lvl 41 with people in 80-90s?

Actually there are 3 people below 70, they are most likely "People of the Land". Plant Hwyaden has an alliance with the local rulers as mentioned last year. Also, for a strategy council the highest level leaders aren't exactly the wisest leaders....

That had the feelings of a season conclusion, but nope! just an arc end! Got a preview of the possible new villains. one of which seems to be a former tea party member!
Valenties day next episode. I have a feeling Shiroe is gonna escape having to make a choice by putting his work first. Which will probably piss off the girls.

Leave it to Shiroe to get people to come to a mutual understanding. Loved how he explained his plans and motives to Kinjou and guaranteed equal rights for everyone. His character development has been amazing in these past few episodes. What a guy!

Nice seeing William announcing that he'll give the "Moon Blossom Talisman" to Shiroe. Best way to show gratitude to your top comrade.

Akatsuki's face when he told Minori that Shiroe will arrive on time.. XD That's her way of saying, "Don't get ahead of yourself, you little bitch."

Shiroe is one cruel guy; already knew Tetra is a guy and still kept it a secret from Naotsugu. Ahhhh.. The anticipation to see his reaction is the same as Waka's finally finding out Kashima is a guy. XD

Plant Hwyaden gives off that menacing vibe, even though Kazuhiko seems to be acquainted with Shiroe and Tetra. Dat level though!

Marie's pouting face once she spotted Tetra holding Naotsugu's hand was pretty cute and funny
Akatsuki is also looking good. The way she hid behind her Shukun to hide to shyness. Kawaii! :3

Good episode! Next one seems to be valentine themed. Should be a good opportunity for Akatsuki to get closer to Shiroe. Minori will inevitably her rival but she should be the one to prevail.

Great episode, but I have some questions.
First, how did Shiroe know about the Plant Hwyaden members? I mean, has he met them before? Did I miss that part??
Second, what exactly did Shiroe do with the money and the contracts? If he made the zones unable to be purchased, then how is he going to make sure they stay safe from his enemies?
Finally, Tetra. Is he a boy playing the game with a female avatar, similar to how Akatsuki used to play the game, or is he using a male avatar with a very androgynous/feminine body? Hmm...

I don't get how they cleared the raid.
They didn't kill the 3rd boss...
Or was killing only the last one enough to clear it? Or maybe entering that last room?
Also, I would have thought they would have gone after the 3rd boss, might as well really clear it, but it seems it was skipped, strange for gamers.

And same question about Tetra, is it a virtual guy looking like a girl, or a virtual girl?

Well, i expected Shiroe to think big if he can get his hands on enough money. So something like buying the city. But buying every buyable zone - only to return them to the server? I also don't get why they wouldn't be up for sale again?

The other side never signed any contract. So they can do whatever they want with it. And when it comes to a dispute who actually owns it, Shiroe certainly can not claim ownership, otherwise the rights transfer would have not be completed. So either the server *does* own it, or in case of being unable to figure it out, they shold return to the original owner.

The only way it would make sense is if the original owner is different from Yamato. Otherwise, returning the lands voluntarily would be the same as having to return them due to be unable to maintain the upkeep or any eventual loss of ownership document, whether that is a document of it's own or the sales contract.

The new owner does have to be unable to sell them. As no contract was signed, it must be an inherit inability, so the owner has to be different to whoever is selling them in the first place.

Even if you say nobody owns the zones initially, the money ends up in that treasure room, not someones pockets, so it would still be Yamato who owns them. Unless one assumes that the money gets destroyed in the case of first buying a zone, which would throw the whole concept of a stable total amount of money that just gets distributed over and over again out of the window.

Which leads to the question who the actually richest party - way richer than Yamato, given that almost all zones are still up for grabs - would be. The Kunie? Are people of the land, and the actual mechanics of gold distribution are not their invention. This holds true even more so for any other clan or kingdom etc.

The server itself is out of question, as there is no reason why the zones could not be sold again. If you return something to it's original owner and you get your money back, it's like you never owned it, like the sale never took place.

No matter how i look at it, the logic doesn't make sense. Just like last episode with the raid bosses..

Shiroe just tihinks something complicated up that miraciously works, when there is no reason at all it should, and even less reason they should think it should work.

It's like this: Shiroe wants to water a huge garden (think palace garden) when an armed robber shows up and threatens him. Through quick thinking, Shiroe is able to come up with a contract that forbids the use of cars to traverse oceans. The moment he finished wiriting the contract, the robber no longer holds a weapon in his hand, but a watering can with just enough water to water all plants, which he promptly hands over to Shiroe.

Not only does the contract not have anything to do with the problem of either watering flowers, robbing or weapons in general, but the other party doesn't sign it. Even if they had time to sign it (remember, problem solved the moment Shiroe is done writing), they have no reason or intention. And even the weapon would vanish or be replaced, they still have no reason to *give* Shiroe anything. And Shiroe does not only get what he want, he actually creates a new - impossible - item: A watering can with more room on the inside, which otherwise behaves like a regular watering can of it's size.

Okay, so both his raid tactic and this idea made at least *some* sense, but neither does hold up ultimately, and he had no reason to believe it could work in either case, on the contrary.

For the first question, it is not mentioned whether Shiroe is aware of the actual composition of Plant Hwyaden's leadership or not. He does however knows about Kazuhiko and KR because they were both ex-Tea Party members as well. Kazuhiko's name has in fact been uttered before by Nazuna, the West Wind Brigade's de facto second in command way back in episode 5 I think, and she was also originally a Tea Party member.

For the second, he was planning to make use of the gold protected by the Kunie to purchase all purchasable zones within the Yamato server, and then use his contract magic to return ownership to the Yamato server permanently without the option to repurchase. This way, he (and the Round Table Council) can avoid the need to pay crippling upkeep fees just to protect important structures from their enemies because now the option to purchase those zones have been eliminated. Essentially, what Shiroe plans to do is to make the land ownership mechanic non-abusable.

For the third, Tetra's case is a reverse-Akatsuki one, that is, a boy trapped in a female avatar. And because Tetra was trapped for a much longer duration than Akatsuki, his voice is now feminine and most probably thinks like a girl too.

Deen, please stop

This is quickly becoming my biggest complaint with this season. I'm seeing way too many cases of either mega zoomed out/in shots so we don't see anyone's faces, or faces that have been ridiculously deformed to avoid having to animate them properly (such as the Shiroe pic). This flies against how Deen supposedly draws the characters "more detailed."

It's not just the characters either. Take the griffon scene from this episode:

While there's more to the scene to this, this portion pretty much amounts to 10 seconds (!!) of two images casually floating across a static backdrop (barely even animated at that). Compare this to a similar clip in the first season:

I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt, but so far, the only thing I'm seeing that this season has going for it in terms of art is brighter colors and character designs that are supposedly truer to the novel's depictions.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wracking my head trying to figure out the reason why Shiroe wanted to buy Yamato land and have it given back to the Yamato server, specially when all the land was ALREADY on the Yamato server.
But with the purchase of key structures eliminated, does this also mean that apart from Akihabara, no other city or structures are purchasable by players/people of the land? Also, does the non-repurchase clause also encompase all the buildings that Shiroe had previously bought within Akihabara? I mean, the upkeep fees for all those buildings must have been weighing down on him already, so if he's made Akihabara purchaseable, doesn't that meant that the buildings held under Log Horizon and/or the Round Table would still require all those up-keep fees?
I mean, if the other were true and he made Akihabara unpurchasable, then wouldn't he also lose his Log Horizon building (since it's not even part of the guild hall)?

Tetra suddenly became likable. :D

Yeah, so looks like Shiroe essentially wanted to make the purchasable land back into normal land as it would be in a game, since he's giving it back to the server. I believe he also said he would give the buildings of Akihabara similar treatment, since the Round Table is unable to incur the fees and the purpose of having control over the functions of the town were to prevent its abuse anyways.

Anyways, I liked the dungeon and the gold system, that was an interesting take. Seems like this was a cool down episode, with a bit of a tease with the new group of adventurers that appear to be scheming.

Anyway, not bad episode - Glad that the dungeon is finalllyyyyyy over!!!!! ( imo they made it waaaaayyyy too long, nearly half of season 2 )
Imo, they should cut a bit of the comedy stuff, it feels like they are overusing it ( sometimes makes me cringe, in a not enjoyable way) and it somehow messes the excitement of the plot.

If you noticed what Shiroe did in this episode, he basically proved his point of the power of his contract by tearing one that represents the Round Table Council's ownership to key structures in Akihabara, which caused immense amounts of gold to pop out of thin air. And whatever Shiroe is planning to do with the borrowed gold cannot be applied retroactively, so whoever who had purchased zones already will still keep them (unless they give them up voluntarily to Shiroe). That is why Shiroe is in such a hurry - he wants to purchase as many zones as possible before they are all in private hands.

A lot of cute moments in this episode, particularly between Demikas and his wife (who obviously has him wrapped around her finger) and Shiroe and Akatsuki. Marie's wardrobe dilemma was pretty fun too. As for Tetra, as we've seen things are changing as the game becomes more real. With what has happenedt with people of the land and with the flavor of legendary items--it's quite likely that the in-game persona will eventually become the "real" persona of the participant. Thus if Tetra's in-game character is female, eventually she will no longer be playing a female character, but actually be that gender. But whether that is the case or not...she's definitely a lot of laughs.
Please don't feed the trolls!

Not really. Shiroe just believes the current system that allows property to be purchased is too flawed. He wishes to replace it with a different system, consisting only of agreements between people (much like real life), whereas the current system is part of the laws of the world.

Flaws in the current system include:
- Some zones like the cathedral and guild hall should remain usable by everyone, but they are available for purchase for a few million gold. If they are purchased, the owner is able to enforce access restrictions via the laws of the world. Since the cathedral and guild hall are so important to adventurers, this would allow the owner to extract exorbitant concessions from adventurers. (ex. Nureha was able to compell every adveturer in Minami to join Plant Hwyaden since she owned the cathedral.)
- It's not practical for a benevolent organisation like the Round Table to own the important facilities to prevent abuse since the maintenance costs are too high to endure in the long term.
- Supposedly, People of the Land are unable to buy land in the same way that adventurers can. O.o?

William must have immense respect from his guild to be allowed to dictate the loot distribution from the first clear of a raid zone... although after seeing episode 10, you'd probably agree he deserves it.

I wish the shot of the "Raid Clear" stone had been longer, and had showed us every player's name. o.o

Is Shiroe going to get put in a difficult situation by Akatsuki and Minori again like at the Scale Festival? xD

Hope we see more of Nureha. She reminds me of two succubi from other stories who were born into high ranking positions, but have no inclination to bear the responsibilities of said position. (...although Nureha wasn't born into her current position.) Minami's spies are way too good to know Shiroe was gone. >.>

That was a neat bit of writing there: Shiroe remarks how he is getting better at understanding people, and makes the comment that him and Demikas only agree that they don't like each other, completely whiffing on the fact that Demikas has a HUGE man crush on him. That was what made the discussion with the wife so wonderful, she knows how important it was for Demikas that he helped Shiroe (and Demikas in the end knows that she is the only person who really understands him as well (which is why he is wrapped).

Takata said:

That's the big one. Letting that exist would mean that eventually, since the adventurers are immortal and can raise nearly unlimited funds from killing monsters, they could buy all the land the "People of the Land" are using and basically turn them into serfs who no longer own the land that they are "of".

Plus remember that Shiroe's last goal forming the Round Table was to insist that "People of the Land" be given the same rights as the adventurers. Shiroe with his great intelligence quickly understood that the way the "game" was set up would turn the People into slaves and he has been moving quickly to prevent that from happening (both out of principle and also because Shiroe knows that they are far more greater threat if they actually decided to move against the adventurers).
