I think the first half was just alright, nothing too interesting really stands out. The English language is better than the others I think since most people will understand what they are saying :D Action-wise, there isn't a lot in this episode but still the story is progressing well^^

I LOLed at Isao's Engrish. Anyway, the Indian guy's English sounds too perfect as if his voice actor is an American. I haven't heard any Indian whose English is too perfect without the accent. But yet again, India at that time is under British control.

Anyway, the girl in Aoi's past (the one who plays the violin in episode 2) is alive. I guess she must have a very big role in the story.

But I'm more excited on the next controversial episode.

LOL @ Isao's English. Everybody else's were passable, but his was just lol-worthy.

Anyways, yup, we are definitely heading towards controversies now.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

The historical aspect of this series confuses me so much since I'm not very familiar with Japanese history although I do know vaguely about their invasion of China and Pan-Asianism goal. I guess I'll just go with the flow. Right now, I'm curious mostly about Aoi's supposedly fiance or wife (?) and why she isn't dead like I thought.

And OMG. I NEED THE OST!!

A very interesting episode. It didn't really pick up until Isao showed up, though. I think they played his appearance very well, even though it was telegraphed earlier in the episode. His intentions seem to have been called into question - perhaps he's not an actual bad guy after all. I predict that he may prove to be more of an anti-villain than anything, at least if I understood his lines properly. He may be attempting to stop Japan from provoking the war.
Aoi's... lady also adds some extra mystery. I wonder what her secret agenda is?

All those Asian resistance movement leaders had well-delivered English (at least for Anime characters). I kinda wish that the big-time seiyuus would try polishing their English, 'cause Isao sounded awkward in comparison to the guys playing the delegates.
The Indian guy's accent was obviously not Indian, but his fluency is extremely historically plausible. Interestingly enough, the Burmese delegate's accent sounds remarkably similar to an actual Burmese-English accent.

I can't wait for Episode 7 to get subbed! I read that it's pretty good.

This is getting better and better though not an exellent show.
The fight scene was nicely animated and Yukina was also shown. I found it interesting how the girl in Aoi's memories helped them, seems like she has some kind of powers not to speak of that I thought she's dead. There must be some importance in her role, so I'm quite curious about it.
And about the English, I don't think they should speak perfectly, they aren't native speakers so they need to have an accent after all even if it was just Engrish. Moreover they spoke quite understandable so I think there wasn't any problems with that.
I can't wait for the subs for ep 7 too~~

First, their Chinese, then their German and now their Engrish. I can't wait for the dual audio that's gonna be out. I'll rewatch those scenes with Japanese audio so I won't get distracted.

As for the episode, show just got real. The revelation was nice and plot is really picking up now.

THIS.
Isao said that he'll make the best option for Japan so it really doesn't indicate that he'll oppose his homeland if he can assure that option.

And for sure, that lady will play a big part on what's going to happen.

Things seem to start happening now : D

Pretty good English xD At least from the Indian : p
(Isao's English on the other hand was horrible xD)

And why do they have restrictions D: And why does that dude not have any? xD...

Lastly, do want more of that girl Aoi's somehow connected to D:

Good to see the plot moving. This episode wasn't bad

Part of me thinks this is really interesting, and another part of me thinks that the show's creators aren't able to pull off a compelling plot with this subject material and should just stick to the whole Japanese x-men cool explosions thing. I still want to see more.

I know the English parts were somewhat painful but I imagine if an American voice over company hired an American to speak Japanese, the Japanese would find it just as difficult to watch.

The voices aside, I'm glad the story is starting to progress. I hope it picks up, because there are some really great and interesting ideas in there.

I'm sure Kazura said that his restriction is that he is limited in places he can teleport to. Glad we have some explanation about the powers, now we need explanation why there are restrictions and where the powers came from.

Also do want. For now, Yukina in that outfit = <3

Was kinda forgetting this show because of the delayed subs. My thoughts can be summed up with this:

thank you for the complement, episode 7 has been A PAIN IN THE BEEP. good news we have raws for both episodes unlike all the other groups (we where actually successful in getting the episodes besides the japanese's best efforts which forced most groups to fail) if any non-english group needs the raws just pm me ok, however it took a long time to get it, thus causing us to not even start translating the episode until tonight. so episode seven will take a while longer sorry.

Well this episode felt very connected to the plot line and was good quality. Glad i wasn't the only one that thought the Indian ambassador had good English too.

The Indian delegate's english was perfect, but horrible acted in comparison to the well acted Engrish of other characters. Isao's was just bad all around.

I don't know what this show is lack, but it just is. Maybe it's the pace, but nothing is engaging. It's all so blah that all I think of is doing something else while I'm watching it.

Pretty good episode, good to see things picking up. The Indian guy's English felt out of character, and the other character's Engrish didn't help. But the fight scene made up for that.

I thought the English in that episode was pretty good, assuming they were not native speakers. Even for Isao, for a japanese guy, I guess it was pretty good. Real Engrish would be Revy in Black Lagoon or Macross Frontier's songs.

Exactly. This episode was filled with interesting political history and most just whinged about the speakers and the lack of action in this series.

The recap episode was just released with subs, so I'm gonna comment on it here (it's listed as "episode 7" when we all know it's really episode 6.5)

For a recap ep, it was pretty damn good. At least it really helps to put the series together and show us how the plot has actually been developing throughout the show.

A big reason why the story was a bit hard to grasp for me was because episodes 4 and 5 were filler, and they were injected into the show right when the big story was taking off. 4 was pure filler, while 5 did give us some interesting character development for Kazura, but even then it wasn't really necessary to watch if you're staying for the main plot with the Guandong Army and Takachiho Isao. The recap at least helped me make sense of things that way.

Oh bugger off. We're commenting on the english because it stands out, not because we think it ruins the episode. Don't tell people what to talk about.

That said, we're getting into what animenewsnetwork called this show's "icky premise". Historically, the Japanese are clearly the bad guys, yet are the protagonists of the show. Will this show be true to history and maybe offensive to the Japanese? The non-airing of the next episode suggests it might...

well I can promise you that both SGKK-Doki did a good job on the recap episode, and we at KAW-PHT have done a good job with all the rest of the episodes that no one else has been able to do so far, unless you have a native japanese as the translator for the series (which we do) episode 7 along with some other segments are close to impossible to translate due to all the army language and historical context. I think the reason none of the other groups have done episode 7-13 is because blackbunnie I am pretty sure dropped the series and she was the translator for all the groups except ours. (except possibly SGKK-Doki)

I just don't get the mentality here. Why are you people obsessed with the way they spoke english :S seriously, anime fans expect complete realism when its not needed in the least, and digest BS when a little realism is necessary.
Anyways, I was confused in the beginning because of the names they kept taking I didnt recognize, but by the end I nailed it down right. My own country was under colonial rule back then (a part of Indian subcontinent), so the the political part was really interesting, especially because I remember reading something about Asian colonies attempting to coordinate to win independence although I never paid much attention in history class. I had no idea about Japan's Pan-Asianism and the particulars about the conflict between china and japan. Which makes this show all the more interesting for me.

Oh and I dont understand this whining over lack of action; I really liked the fight scene, which I think was better than 50% of the action i saw in all of DTB
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')
