I can totally see Mikasa cutting Eren's head off or something lmao
It's sad we're going to have to wait another year to actually see the end to this final season and the show overall, but I'm glad they're taking the time instead of rushing it out. You could really see MAPPA being pushed to their absolute limits, with both final halves of Final Season Part 1 and Part 2 having considerably worse looking production values compared to their first halves.
I guess we're getting old, entering the 30s does that to you I guess.
Doing pretty decent myself, finished university a few years back, been working since then.
Do you use discord?
How have you been doing?
lmao yes, I do also feel where Eren's coming from, but same for Zeke's plan tbh. I'm more on Armin's side tho, like "uhh guys there's gotta be another option right?" lulz
The internet was a mistake
- Hayao Miyazaki
might be what his next final FINAL film is about culz
hahahaah yeah, I read that comment before I sent you one! It took me like three reads to understand it lmao, it cracked me up. It did inspire me to leave a comment on your profile though, so there we go lulz
And I wasn't aware that 86 is on a break, but I guess that waiting for the BDs is a wise decision then hehe.
It's insane how popular Demon Slayer is; even my non-weeb friends were hyped for the movie to come out and wanted to watch it in cinemas. But yeah, ufotable should stick to taking their time (unlike MAPPA, whose schedule is jam-fucking-packed, holy shit), but I do miss the types of work they did before, like Fate and whatever (even though the Heaven's Feel trilogy films were like ehh.)
I just watched the SAO Progressive film btw and it felt like I was send back a decade, back when the first two episodes of the original TV series was airing culz. A solid remake really, and quite a joy to see it in cinemas with that glorious OST. It's no high culture anime, but great popcorn entertainment for sure. And the SAO arc is arguably the best arc of course.
lmao yeah, remember 2010 and 2011 where you could watch all of the airing anime? Good times.
I mean, damn, you've got a great setup. I turned into a total normie and use streaming services (¬‿¬). But I do browse the occasional nyaa whenever I want to watch something that's not legally available and when searching for BD rips of course. I did see an XDCC header on DameDesuYo's website, so I think they still use it? Probably some other BD groups as well, but sadly there's not a lot of those anymore.
Mm, Reiner definitely changed a lot ever since S4 for yeah, but I do get the feeling that change came gradually. He already showed signs of dissociative identity disorder-ish tendencies back in S2, and his PTSD and whatnot only worsened as the show progressed. He definitely turned into a more sad puppy over time lol. Guess that's what war does to a person kulz
Eren was never one of my favorites either, but I love antagonist Eren a lot. I'm... not pro-genocide though lol, but I like his journey into turning another Eldian leader that just decides to murder everyone. I rewatched the final episode of S3 lately and that one serves as a great introduction to villain-Eren.
Historia and Ymir OTP, and they did Ymir dirty by killing her off-screen ;_; I kinda get it though, because she had already fulfilled her role in the story I do think it's sad how they sidetracked Historia's character tho. Here, go make some babies!!
Hahahaha Sakura Ayane provides such a good performance as Gabi! Very sad how she apparently received death threats on twitter because people hate Gabi and they just plain suck, but I have massive respect for her performance. I love her arc as well ("Blindly following nationalism and experiencing racism actually turned me into a racist too, but I managed to see the light, giving up my old racist and nationalist ways and finally killed the MC, accidentally causing the apocalypse!" is a great title for a light novel lmao), probably one of my favorite character arcs in AoT.
Coincidentally, I looked up the new Pokémon anime a few days ago culz. And ever since that one started (in 2019 I believe?) they've released two films, so if they release another one this year they'd be one schedule I guess lmao. But that's too bad that anime films aren't that common in Sweden yet. It's not like they receive as many screenings here as like Marvel films, but we did get multiple screenings of Demon Slayer, the latest BokuAca film, Your Name, Weathering with You, pretty much every Masaaki Yuasa film and others. And Ghibli obviously, but the only film they've released lately is Aya and the Witch and uhhhhh that one wasn't great lol.
I also saw you're watching 86. I haven't seen a proper mecha in a while, and that one looks a lot of fun. Legit just found out Sawano and Yamamoto did the OST, so guess I'll wait for the BDs then (¬‿¬)
And I see you're watching Demon Slayer too. ufotable being ufotable is really nice (dat animation) and I'm glad they're achieving massive success with this show, but uhh I do wish they'd start using their resources again on properties that aren't just a basic shounen. Ah well, who knows what they'll do after Demon Slayer ends. I believe they're over halfway done with the source material now.
While I do look back on those good ol' days with rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, I'm happy anime actually got as big as it is now, since it's no problem at all finding subs for a show. Imagine the amount of shows we have per season now (which is like what, 40+?) and having to find fansubs for all of 'm compared to the roughly 20 shows that were airing 8 years ago. Either the fansub community had to grow with the amount of shows being produced, or like half of the shows wouldn't get subbed at all lol.
I still download fansubs for BD copies obviously; DDY's subs are always very solid. I used them for Kobayashi-san S2 as well.
Whaaaat no way?? Man, I thought Reiner was such a great character!! Especially since the final season, seeing how he's really the only familiar character we see for the first six episode until Marley gets invaded. I felt for his PTSD and suicidal tendencies RIP anyone reading your profile that's watching AoT and hasn't reached the final season yet (¬‿¬), and I found it quite charming how he reminisced and compared his old friend group of Titan Candidates to the current group of Falco and Gabi. But hey, the good thing about the show with a large cast is that everyone can find characters they like and dislike, right lulz
I'd say AoT is definitely more focused on plot developments over characters, but I do think it really excels at handling a large cast and bringing them together in fantastic ways. Especially during the climax of Paradis's invasion (the part you're at right now), I found it so so well done how all characters come together and actually all deliver something meaningful to the plot with their actions and motivations. The Brothers episode hit me so hard, pff.
The anime community is definitely going to explode over the ending, if it's even going to end with this part though. People are speculating we're gonna get a final movie to end it all, which would make sense commercially, with films like Your Name and Demon Slayer gaining international success both commercially and critically. I would love to see an AoT film in my local cinema (thankfully anime got so big the last couple of years that the local cinemas [including the cultural centre I work at] play pretty much all big anime releases. I'm gonna watch SAO Progressive this Thursday in cinemas culz), but I'm not looking forward to waiting even longer to see the ending to this saga lmao.
But yeah, real enjoyable shit.
And some anitubers that I watch have been raving about Mushoku for a while now, but I have been on the fence in checking it out, because well, isekai (¬‿¬) It's like the Marvel of anime I know, very original observation; it's everywhere lol. But now I'm convinced, since the founder of Derp Subs actually recommends it, so I'll definitely check it out lulz still waiting on that DaiDenYuuDen anime adaptation
Yes, I do think age and experience definitely has to do with the fact why we're less inclined to be wowed by media in general, but I do think predictability doesn't necessarily equate to lower quality/enjoyment. If the audience is able to predict something, I'd like to think that the writers made sure the audience were actually able to pick up on all the factors and aspects that the writers carefully put into their story.
For AoT, it's a bit different, since for every reveal Isayama puts in the story, it's not just a reveal; it's a whole new story with its own developments. He does this with the basement reveal in S3P2 as well, essentially starting to shift the entire storyline into whatever AoT has turned into in its final season. It's amazing really. And what you said is spot-on; as soon as the story starts to feel a bit too comfortable, it changes into a whole new beast. And yeah, the shock factor also really helps lol.
And I just googled an image of PM Koizumi on his segway and damn, I wish I could be as content as he is on his segway lmao
<Good> you counted the episodes and continued your journey lulz. I find this turn for the weird pretty fucking great, since the show started off as your everyday shounen (and everyone loved it when it was just that, but I thought it was just fine on first watch) but the political intrigue that was introduced in S3 and the straight up war themes and allegories to real life events that were introduced in S4 are just *chefs kiss* Glad they went with a studio change for S4, since it fits the thematic and stylistic change the story goes through after S3.
I rewatched the entire show during the veeery long lockdown at the beginning of 2021, and while the first half of S1 is very rough to get through, the show just increasingly gets better after that. Good stuff.
And yes, the OST is literally the work of gods, both Sawano and Yamamoto's soundtracks. Exquisite and plain iconic stuff right there. I listen to it every day culz
Speaking of anime (dat segway (¬‿¬)) it's gotten a lot bigger ever since we started watching it over a decade ago. I do feel that it's more quantity over quality nowadays, as it's impossible to keep up with all the shows that are airing. Also, shows that would get categorized as classics (such as S;G or other highly regarded anime with an actual ending that almost everyone unanimously loves) haven't really been released lately (with maybe AoT managing to snag that title if it manages to end properly). I was wondering if you found any hidden gems throughout the many anime that aired the last couple of years. Almost nothing I watched had that WOW factor y'know but maybe that's just part of getting older lmao
You enjoying your AoT binge? (¬‿¬)
