Anne's enthusiasm and optimism is quite infectious. I couldn't stop grinning all throughout. I was listening to heart the other day as well only to find out Laura Day Romance is finally in anime. Big W

Okay, I know the shows look completely different from the Emily anime, but bear with me on this one.

That X-Men anime, the Wolverine one, and that Supernatural anime. The SPN one though, I felt was the best to look at because it was less overly detailed and played with shadows better. But Emily reminds me of those shows because their colors feel super saturated, a lot of the character designs are real detailed in some places, and not in others. And the detail in some places make the rest stand out. The adults don't really have this issue, they're fine. But the kids all look weird, including the ones outside of the main cast.

Like I said, these shows are wildly different in looks, so you probably won't understand whatever the hell I'm saying. Even I think it sounds like nonsense. But it's like, just this weird, extremely specific vibe I get from all of these shows and some others.
@Gwenpool

Watched none of those (although I do plan to watch the X-Men one some day at least), so I wouldn't be abloe to make much of comparison either way haha.

But I think I get the gist of what you're saying. Yeah stuff like that is hard to explain but you just know when you see it, lol.

I think I kind of get what you mean with Emily's artstyle. For that very reason that makes me consider it artistic which only enhances the "children book feel" for me, but yeah it can go both ways for people.

@TheColonel76 These days, I'm genuinely shocked when a series is listed for 24-26 consecutive episodes, which includes Witch Watch this season, surprisingly
@holdingnothing Oh yeah it’s always nice, I love having a show to ride for half the year with no breaks, but I’ll take split cours as an alternative if it means a better product of course.

@TheColonel76 Bye Bye Earth is somewhere on my backlog, but not even sure where I'd fit it in with other stuff, like the Batman Ninja sequel movie that came out

The classic slice of life is back! The Cubert family is much more friendly than what i was remembered. Her imagination makes the story much enjoyable.

Insufferable main character. Probably the first time I see a character that repulsive while it is obvious she hadn't been intended that way. I haven't read manga but I assume she feels much better there.
@Sinagro

she's like this in the book it's based off and in literally every other adaptation. anne's enthusiasm is a part of her character and charm lol

A great way to introduce new watchers. I watched the original version that had that old school 70s palette colors and aesthetic/charm, but this was cute in its own way.

Can't wait to meet Gilbert!

Wow. This anime has such a bliss of Iyashikei vibes all around. I am in for this roller coaster. It's just beautiful and heartening! Way to go!!!

P.S: I can't Believe it's the same studio which butchered Tower of God Season 2.

Anne is one of my favorite characters in all of literature! She's just so infallibly charming and lovable. And I wasn't disappointed by this episode. It's appropriately beautiful, colorful, and painterly for a show about a girl with an incredibly vibrant and vivid imagination! This is definitely going to be a comfort show for the spring and summer seasons! I was so pleasantly surprised that this was being adapted to anime; it's become one of my favorite book series after reading the first one ("Anne of Green Gables") a year or two ago

Aww I really like the novel and always imagined I'd watch to 70's adaptation one day. I had no idea they were doing another one until I looked at the seasonals list. I figured why not, but I do still plan to watch the 70's one too. Admittedly, I feel like the newer art is oddly out of place for this story, but it's still nice! I'm excited about seeing the friendship between Anne and Diana!

Very happy with the quality of the visuals/animation for a remake of a classic piece of literature. Hoping this show gets more traction because I did enjoy reading the original novel.

from the Jan 7, 1979 to Dec 30, 1979 series
to the live action Anne with an E (2017–2019), a Canadian joint CBC-Netflix...
it's the same old story nonstop but in every time it remain being a beautiful story

Anne of Green Gables is almost as big as the Moomins seris. as per usual .. if you fear risk just remaster the guaranteed success..
i hope they don't ruin this one ..

oooh Marilla ... the child inside me .. will ALWAYS HATE YOU ....
i hated her as a kid, i hated her as a live action actress. i know i'll hate her character forever ..
just like the house mistress from "princess Sara" some characters are simply designed for you to hate them
....
Mathew is a very kind and understanding gentleman .. but .... he has no idea how to interact with women .. . and with his "sister's" personality
it's not that weird ... both grew up unmarried .. ... the original show was 50 episodes .. i don't mind watch "episode to episode"
and compare them both.
i love this story
basically ... Anne's incredible fantasy .. is not born of her childishness or boredom .. she lives in fantasy trying to survive her "situation"
i find it strange that Mathew IS the older sibling, yet Marilla doesn't respect him much ...
Marilla is a very logical and sensible woman .. your "old school teacher personality" kind of a person.. she's WAY too serious .. i'm not confused why she didn't get married .. since her personality is seriously unlikable
Mathew is more flexible and friendly very easy to get along with.

Damn. It didn't really came to me when I read the book as a kid how thoroughly valid Anne's crashout was. Parents absolutely cannot just pick and choose like that.
Anyway, I love this adaptation so far.

@Piromysl someone ... wasn't taught about "personal space" ... and Mathew is very bad with interacting with women .. pardon me .. but i couldn't stop laughing at this zoom in ..

also YES! it's very common for red haired people to have freckles .. it just comes along with their genetics.
she hates her "red hair" even though it's among her best charms ..
YES black hair is ROYAL.. but red hair is super rare! she should be proud!

Iyashikei, slice of life, drama, coming of age, and shoujo? Tbh, this first episode slapped real hard and Anne is such a bundle of hope, sunshine, and liveliness.
It gives off nostalgic feelings and it's set in Canada (my country). Haha, I like that.

Haven't read the novel but damn I love Anne's character. I can already imagine some people going nuts since she's overly energetic and loud. To me she's a precious, must-protec type.
She'd make an excellent actress I think, or a writer with such boundless imagination.
