So that's the path they chose to take. I know now the reason why that the title is Momentary Lily.

Damn... the only character I liked died. But she apparently shows up in the next episode - that's a bit confusing. Why didn't they develop the characters more? The entire episode I kept guessing who'd die - and I couldn't name a single thing about green hair and pink hair. And then, we have the terribly obnoxious Gamer Girl, Miss Onee-chan, and to a lesser point - Miss Anxiety.

MC's reaction to her trauma of her dead/missing friend is frankly terrible and completely one-dimensional. "I had a friend, I lost friend, no more friend" - what kind of toddler-like thinking is that? At least add some depth! Make her happy to chill out with people but shy away from anything deeper that would mark them as friends - such as maybe - oh, I don't know! Not opening up to this completely random girl she just met!

Her missing friend could be shown through a flash back during which they'd show how Ren-chan reminds MC of her and how it makes her ball up on herself in terror even more and maybe react in an unhealthy way. It could be a reason for her death maybe, her running off from her trauma and getting injured in the process.
Those deaths felt incredibly sudden - she's fine one second, and in the next, she's not. I suppose that part isn't any sort of error - but I'd prefer to have an additional reason to believe that MC dying makes sense.

And don't get me started on the empty dolls the other girls are. They're like paper cutouts. It makes the death scenes not matter at all - since the characters aren't people at all. And it's not this show being on its second episode - I've watched plenty shows that hooked me way quicker and made me care in express speed -
and
are both good examples.

Onee-chan's near death scene was amazing though, I'll admit that. They might not know anything about passive trauma - but active terror, they nailed. She was amazingly pathetic. Unfortunately, she didn't die - but I suppose they have to keep the big boobs around for the fan service. If only they gave the boobs some personality!

The respawning city annoys me too. I know it's a feature of some stories - and some of them do nail it and make it look natural - but this is just lazy. It's like they didn't want to keep track of what was broken so whoop doop, problem gone.

This could have been an amazing anime. The animation is fun - eccentric, sure - but very nice and stylized. So why didn't they develop everything more! What a waste of money! What a waste of resources!

I do think I'll continue watching - for Onee-chan's near-death blubbering.

would they actually kill off one of the girls? and the most likeable one at that? Yuri's death sure looked real but I'm still skeptical ;-;

I'm also still amazed by the animation and the colors and everything. hands down one of the best looking anime I've ever seen

The reveal this episode was quite bold but feels quite unearned, I was not invested in the moment at all.

Beyond that big moment, I'd have to point out the horrible editing style in the episode as well;
something I don't remember being an aspect of the first episode, but then again, this show is
just made up of one bad animation decision after another, so it is not surprising.

Ugh, they really killed off best girl to save worst girl? I'm guessing she will be brought back somehow.
I did like this episode better than the first one, but the bar was pretty damn low, lol.

Personally, I find no fault with the animation. Is it just me? Maybe it just grows with me since I've watched and liked K series.

I liked this in the two other Gohands stuff I've seen but this is first one I've watched that was action. It isn't the style just how visually noisy some moments are which is difficult if lines are given same time being I have to read the subtitles.

This might not be the best show in the world, but the first two episodes have shown it’s way better than the current MAL score indicates. Say what you will about Gohands’ animation style, at the very least the story and world are interesting and you feel curious watching this. Not to mention the emotional gut punch this episode was holy shit.

You mean to tell me, my cute girls fighting monsters anime is going to have bloodshed and death?? Episode started off so light hearted, we’re planning snacks and hot pot and next thing I know, Erika’s being strung up by some monster and on the verge of death. Her seiyuu performance was great in that scene and really drove home how scared she was. Like a character who’s all about making people laugh and lightening the mood literally on the verge of pissing themselves with fear is wild.

Felt so relieved when Ren and the others showed up and just knew we were escaping with everyone intact and BOOM that fucking ending. 💔 Yuri deserved so much better .. didn’t think I’d get emotional watching this show. The big question now is if death is permanent in this world. I can’t tell if next episode is a flashback or we’re getting a time loop sort of deal.

Just wish Gohands would stop with the over animation. I can’t tell if their fights look good or bad. It’s like a crazy mix, as if they’re more concerned with looking good rather than being good. So many of the movements are jarring.

I agree, that performance was wild. Erika was also pretty down to earth going into the whole fight and her fears / reluctance weren't unfounded, she could barely hold 1 of the monsters and 2 almost killed her.

2 episode in and we already lost a member.
Looked like Erika was going to go but they got Yuri instead, and just when she was making good friendship progress with Renge.
I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.

Oh shit, now that was unexpected. Is Yuri dead for real, or will she come back (somehow)? We will see.

Good-looking action scenes were good, indeed. The intensity of moe and CGDCT moments was a little bit too much, but not enough to make me drop the show. xD

It seems, judging from the preview, that we will learn the origins of their team in the next episode.

Yeah, I don't think I'll stick to Momentary Lily. I'll wait to hear if it's actually worth watching, but I'm just not getting any enjoyment out of it. I want to - I really do love the premise and the animation - but the characters are unbearable. Not just in the way they act, but... I can't really explain it, the second episode; just got bad vibes from it lol - I knew Eri wasn't going to die (despite how hard they tried to death flag her), even without my knowledge of Yuri's death beforehand, but they did such a "great" job at getting her to be alone.

The plan was clear - for Eri to hold off one so that the rest can deal with two.

And I highly doubt such a bad plan will ever be replicated again: not just because of the risk of her getting overwhelmed, but the show made it very clear that these Wild Hunts are not small fry, even the basic ones.

They require a team effort to manage, and one mistake can be fatal. Anybody, in this situation, would realistically have her paired with another; or they would retreat; or they would change tactics to isolate and take one down. It's already hard taking down one normally - Ei thought she could fend off one, not for a decision that required a hard choice or an unavoidably high risk, but because the story needed her to be alone for... this: This scene where she's slobbering and snotting and begging for her mama whilst dragging her fatass tits across the grass. It was honestly unpleasant to watch, and not because it was a tense or harrowing scene; it felt fetishistic. It felt like... not "sadness porn," or even "drama porn." I just felt like, in this moment, I saw the writers' strings attached to the characters, puppetting them to do what they wanted to do instead of presenting the carefully-crafted illusion of organic-feeling drama.

Like, this wasn't the only plan they could've done. But the show wanted to make us believe that, and that on top of everything else just gave me bad vibes.

Especially telling that this was the first moment Eri had any real character. Except, I didn't feel like it deepened or served her character in any way - not in the sense that it gave context to her actions. Mama demeanor aside, it felt... half "oh she's gonna die, here's something to make you empathize with her in the last second" and half "look at how infantile this 'mature stacked mama teen' actually is, isn't she complex?" I just don't trust the show to take these emotions seriously; I haven't bought into it yet.

She went through all these emotions, too, and she clearly wasn't talking rationally, but when she became enraged that the others "never come," why wasn't this problem in the past emphasized sooner? Why would anybody even agree to her version of the plan without a second of discussion? Why did this feel so forced?

It's because it was.

And it feels juvenile. This whole show feels juvenile in the worst of ways.

My brain is already fabricating a potential counterargument to this scene with Eri; like, "But isn't that telling? It shows how forced her 'mama' demeanor is and how hard she tries to maintain it for the younger girls. The break in character emphasizes the gulf between her persona and her own self."

And to that I say, I understood what they were going for. I just think everything around it was evidence of the writers being degenerate weirdos instead of trying to craft a complex character.

An improvement from the first episode. It looks and generally is better. Surprised they offed one of the girls already. Is GoHands cooking a cult classing doomer series? Of course I'm joking a little, but I'm actually somewhat excited to see what's gonna happen next time now.

I'm not sure how I feel about this episode as it was all over the place, from the awkward conversations the girls had with each other, to another brief cooking lesson, and then the combat against goliaths and death of Yuri. Speaking of Yuri, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of her.
@Alfredo-Sauce Me too, I don't feel bad with her death because for some reason it feels like she would return.

Damn. They killed off one of the main characters in the second episode? What a shocking moment! R.I.P. Yuri.

This anime is not fucking around. Nobody is safe in this show. I like that the characters don't have plot armour just because they're main characters. Of course, there's the possibility that no one else dies in the rest of the show.

Sorry, who? We barely know anything about these characters. How are they going to try to drop a death and expect people to truly care?
The most it does is show that death for our main cast is, indeed, a possibility in this anime, but I really hope they don't expect us to feel too moved aside from shock value.
I'm not really interested in seeing all these characters eventually die though, so hopefully we don't keep going down this path.

I was so afraid for Ecchan then they saved her. Just as it seems okay, that unexpected death of Yuri. Ugh. Looks like the stakes are high here and our protagonists don't have much of a plot armour.

That said, why does it seem she is alive in next episode's preview?

ETA: From episode 3, Yuri appears as they tell Renren how they met her. RIP Yuri

Did Onee-san just say "Screw you guys" when she thought she was dying? That was unexpected, almost as unexpected as the blonde one dying. Will we only see her in flashbacks now, that doesn't seem right.

Renge getting introduced to the girls and their Andavari weapons, and she might be very well their key to understanding what's going on in their singularity world full of the mech Wild Hunts.

Of course, they could just do whatever they want, though this would expunge their efforts even before encountering the Wild Hunts, So then, what better to do than to cook some food and get their bellies full before meeting the Goliaths. But if one of them wasn't hard enough, the horde proving too much for the girls to handle, much less Erika with her less-than-ideal Andavari shield being under attack from 2 Goliaths, it takes the entire group to save her within the nick of time, though at the expense of Yuri's sacrifice.

This early, and someone's passing so soon, Renge must be hurting this bad.
