A lot of background storytelling about Shura this episode. However, most of it is about when she was at the academy and her connection to Fujimoto.

Glad Shura managed to overcome her past and fights for her future. Obviously, Rin and her friends played a role to help her but still, it's also Shura's own choice to fight back.

I thought Yukio knew that he was a double agent? But he knows too damn much! Surprised that Shura also knows about Yukio's awakening powers.

Good job for Yukio and Rin to finally release Shura from Hachiro’s curse. Now she is able to live her life freely, without any more obligations.

That priest was kind to Shura and accepted to take care of her, even though her situation was not too great.

Can the trope of "woman cuts her hair short to show independence/character development" just die already? It's such a tired cliche at this point.

CGI is jarring, but somehow, someway, never thought I'd be saying this, especially for AoEx of all shows, the story/arc is actually enough to hold itself up.

I found this arc way more interesting than anything season three put out, and even on the same level as the Kyoto Arc, minus the animation ofc. That whole "CUTTING YOUR HAIRS = CHARACTAH DEVELOPMENT" thing kinda brung it down though.

P.S. THAT scene with Shura is uncen in the manga (jap ver. at least), for those wondering.

@IzanaSolos i mean the animation wasnt that bad but who are doing the corrections in voln? or are they even doing them, the poses sometimes are overly good sometimes its too static, but the story gonna get epic assuming u read the manga

I hated that also. But this is a long running manga, so this chapter probably was released ages ago.

I'm still shocked at Rin. I don't know why given he was always wound too tight.

I don't think I would have let little Hachiro go.

I didn't realize until the convo on the steps that Shima's VA is Midousuji from Yowmushi Pedal. It was weird hearing Midousuji's fake laugh come out of Shima.

It's not a cliche if it's something people actually do. And they do. It's a type of a cleansing or ritual if you will. I've known quite a few people who have done it. When celebrities do it they say oh she (or he) is trying a new look, but if you pay close enough attention it almost always coincides with an event in their lives that promotes change or growth in most. I, myself, chopped my hair off to exert my independence at 14. It's freeing in more ways than one. I don't know why, but it is.

This was probably one of the stronger arcs of blue exorcist for me, I really enjoyed it…and shima is still sus af. I am a little disappointed that the Hachiro fight didn’t look as cool as it did in the opening…

Yukio should bang Shura.

Poor Hachiro, he doesn't seemed to be a BAD demon, I think if they talked things out the right way he may even had become a friend lol

I 100% get Yukio's frustration, Rin is a dumbass yet he has all the powers and shit, he can auto-heal while poor Yukio has to get operated and wait months to recover, it sucks.

Also, I didn't like that Rin was the one to beat Hachiro, that was super lame.
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~
Btw, cry about it.

An enjoyable fifth episode, though somewhat below expectations in certain aspects compared to previous episodes. Paradoxically, my approach here is more critical, as the flaws become far more noticeable in this particular installment.

Let’s begin with the conclusion of this arc, which is truly remarkable. While I was not overly surprised due to my familiarity with the manga, the animated version proves even more impactful, largely thanks to the music selection and the monumental work of the voice actors. I must admit that I felt genuine chills throughout the episode.

That said, I suspect I am not alone in noticing a recurring issue: the 3D animation during the battle, which appears only to undermine the character of Hashiro. The choice of wide angles unnecessarily accentuates visual flaws, whereas a closer adherence to the manga’s original framing would have sufficed, sparing us the disengaging 3D. Even some still shots focused on the serpent's eye could have enhanced the intensity.

Perhaps I digress by dwelling on minor details. Despite these small imperfections, this episode offers a graceful farewell to an arc that is both intense and nostalgically evocative, if I may say so.

I now eagerly anticipate what lies ahead, as the upcoming arc promises to be as enthralling as it is pivotal. Voln has already demonstrated its capacity to deliver high-quality productions; let us hope this is no exception.

Hachirotaro defeated, and Shura freed, win win.

Although not everything is rosy, it seems that the path of Sasuke has finally begun for Yukio.

@Atavistic I think you don't understand that's not an anime trope, but something rooted in Japanese culture that women actually do to symbolize taking a new path in life.

Shura trying to seduce Shiro lol. She can just have Rin. Shura is saved. Rin's warmth helps yet another person. But damn short hair, she doesn't look bad I'll miss her with ponytail. Was funny watching Shima hit the sore spots for Yukio again, good job guy.

@Atavistic Well, it was also because she was trapped by Hachiro, that guy was all over her (literally)
