8 years of crowdfunding, 6 years since the pilot OVA, and 2 years since the anime announcement, the newly commissioned TriF Studio and director Sae Okamoto's Mecha-Ude is now a reality of a series in the making.

Kuhaku Gokko's Setsuko's OP and ED are just simply beautiful and gorgeous, with Hiroyuki Sawano's unmistakable music composition.

The ordinary boy of Hikaru Amatsuga hanging out with his friends, only to hear a cry for help in a prohibited area for him to meet a cube and be simultaneously taken over, it's a Mechanical Arm derized to him, only to be attacked by unknown enemies, necessitating an escape.

The prized Mechanical Arm being the Trigger Arm, Hikaru has no amenity towards it even though it needs arbitrium to survive, which unfortunately they're linked within the same body, it also has another person chasing it: Mecha-Ude user Aki Murasame with her mechs of Sinis and Dex, which Hikaru has no choice but go against her, showcasing just the amount of power that Trigger Arm a.k.a Alma that was supposed to be someone else's.

Hikaru is stuck with Alma, and he has to meet Aki, who joins him in school. One thing's for sure: Hikaru's life will never be the same again...

Mecha-Ude may be stereotypical, but this is a solid effort from what was once a Kickstarter project all those years ago.

What started off as a little project, turned into a OVA, and now finally, six years later, the official TV anime is finally here after so long. Been following this one for a minute now, and man am I so happy that the creators are getting such a faithful and great adaption. I mean, just that first scene gave me so many goosebumps. It looked SO FUCKING GOOD HOLY SHIT.

Such a great premiere. Couldn't have asked for better man.

Not bad as far as the first episode is concerned in terms establishing plot points and introducing characters. Although this feels like an anime studio Trigger would make so I got a kick out of it when they mention the "Trigger Arm". Of course Aki would show up at Hikaru's school in order to get the Trigger Arm. Let's see how they would get along.

Apparently, I've seen the OVA 5 years ago and didn't like it. Nothing changed in all this time. It was as mediocre and bland as it could be, without a single thing that would make it appealing. While being made by a relatively new studio and clearly inexperienced writer, it somehow has the whiff of something made with a checklist by a committee. Backgrounds are nice but characters have that awful cheap and flat looking simplified design. Writing is something you can ask a language model to put together for you... Maybe this is what people mean when they say a mediocre series is worse than a bad one.

Have been waiting for this one for a long time and it's finally here. So, it feels nice. It's a cool concept and the Trigger Arms are so cool as well. I love the art style, it feels so trigger-esque, and maybe that's why. Hikaru seems like a kid who takes his responsibility seriously.

Alma is sweet as well. Aki is so cute and it feels like she'll get along with Hikaru quite nicely. LOL. The animation looks like it's gonna be providing much more going forward. The OP is nice but I liked the ED more. The music is epic as you'd expect from Sawano. Really looking forward to the rest of the show. Good start. Good job, TriF.

I was curious since the 2018 OVA will they expand the idea and how they will do it.
So far it works, not a fan of the school life clichés tho.

Been following this anime since hearing about its kickstarter, looks VERY good for its introductory episode so far.
Something lacking about the animation is some of the fast-paced action scenes that are hard to follow with the eyes, especially the mecha-ude transformtions which should be the money shots have this choppy kind of feeling which maybe the animators were going for a "rigid" feeling.
Or maybe there were just too many stuff in the action scenes idk

Is TriF Studio in anyway related to Studio Trigger? Just like how Studio Trigger is related to Studio Gainax, which is now bankrupted. Because this surely reminds me of Kill la Kill, down to the music choice.

Thought this would be clear pass and I'm honestly still not quite sure if I will finish this, but first episode was so well directed that I watch the second one.

OP is banging. Song reminds me of Re:Creator ones.

Wait is Sawano on this?

Edit: it’s sennarin, one of my faves who often collabs with Sawano or has him produce so that explains it. Def watching now.

Wasn’t gonna watch this because of how packed Thursdays are but I found out Sennarin and Sawano were on the OP making it a MUST watch. +yamamoto on the OST. Mech show+ Yamamoto and Sawano, surely this is 86 season 2 right?! 😂 idc if a third grader made it or if it’s a kickstarter, with that lineup I’m watching it. Nah but this was an amazing first episode, definitely looking forward to where this goes.

Serious trigger vibes here in the designs, world and action. Aki is badass and I’m interested in learning more about trigger arm and all this tech. Hikaru just wanted to live a normal life but seems like he just got pulled into something way bigger than he could’ve ever imagined.

That final fight of the ep with the Yamamoto OST.. omg I had chills. Very hype

I didn’t watch the OVA or know about the kickstarter campaign but it seems like it’s been a long road to get this made and I think those who’ve been waiting will be satisfied with this start.

This feels like an underdog homage to both Studio Trigger (and their consistent utilization of Hiroyuki Sawano’s genius compositions) and unconventional mecha… Absolutely peak.

I understand why younger fans/tourists whose gateway was modern mappa & ufotable might be confused by this and think it’s bland, but in a few more years I bet they’ll circle back and appreciate works like this one.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!!

What a journey, glad she finally made it and for sure it gonna inspire a lot of local indie and independent.

Man still remember 8~10 years ago I found an interesting short PV of an original content promoting itself on kickstater looking for support and fund to produce an OVA. Looks cool and been following their journey until the OVA came out in 2018, tho it is slightly disappointing but understandable from an indie project.

Can't believe 6 years later, she finally secured the full series. Its so good given that it is a small startup studio, big improvement from the raw early day of OVA, likely this time with more experience and budget. Hope this series will be a success and very impress on how confident she is and how much trust she had on her own work to stick with it and never give up on one title for 10 years.

So let's see. We have a new original anime that has been in development for a while. It features animation similar to Fire Force in character design as well as Soul Eater and battle animations that could be mistaken for Studio Trigger. There is already a cast of characters to look out for, an evil organization, a sad little man seeking revenge and our wimp mc meeting a sensei mechanical arm while being chase by his to become romantic interest probably. The op has a nice smooth ring to it and the end isn't static. All of this takes place during highschool.

Yup, this has potential all right.

This is not a mecha show tho, you need giant piloted robots for that...power armor is the closest thing to Mecha-ude and still not there.

This feels very 2000's mecha, I love it, I need this kinda energy right now. It also feels very Trigger inspired, the talking weapons also reminded me of Kill la Kill, plus we got Hiroyuki Sawano onboard, betcha I'll be here.

And of course, we can't have shows like this without a badass female lead with a gap, already a fan of Aki.

The action moments were well done, I also liked the storyboards, that sequence of scenes + great camera angles, made all the difference.

The plot itself is very generic, the protagonist too, but this is still a very decent debut, as it is an original anime, everything is unpredictable, but it seems to have potential

It's finally here! I've had my eyes on this one for a bit, even though I haven't watched the special episode, and this was a decent premiere imo. It's got elements of Kill la Kill in the action sequences and Re:Creators in the sound department. Cool female main character there and Sugita-san as the mecha-ude will at least make interactions entertaining, one would imagine. Classmates now though, this is off to something xD.

Cool Op and ED too, and the animation isn't bad either, looking forward to more of this!

I'm conflicted about this Anime.
Never seen the manga before, so coming in without any expectations... which is kind of good for a new Anime.

That being said, I don't like the MC, I like that red hair girl, I definitely don't like how they portray those AI arms.

The Art style of the Anime they are using that crappy Netflix like style for quick editing and publishing, that means low quality low effort work.

The story itself is a little bit interesting, just curious to see if those are actual AI's or if they are human brains uploaded to a Cube.

Also curious about the 2 factions fighting for the mecha-arms while the rest of the world is in the dark about it, as they edit and remove all evidence of those things existing at all.
