Predictable but Will managed to use that sword infused with magical powers to take down his foe and help them escape. This whole experience was something he won't forget.

Will and Sion seems to still have a rivalry of sorts although this episode only gave them short time to fight. No doubt Will has gotten much stronger since the beginning of the show. He's a grown a lot truly.

I mean seeing those pikachu faces were nice and all, but would we know how Will miraculously gained that power? No, I guess. I mean the actual purpose was to just let Will defeat the main bad, such that those fellow group mates actually do start respecting him. Barring that, I think they also wanted to introduce that main old man and the small blonde guy, who for some reason… already took interest in our main guy. Too much aura xD Jokes with Lihanna aside, are they even allowed to fight each other within the school premises?

I know that was for a cool ending, but lol. Well yeah, the series is a bootleg of so many things we’ve already watched. Story wise there is actually nothing new, maybe this series is trying to foreshadow a lot of things, so there’s that, but that’s it. Not even sure when we’ll be able to get to the core of these things, as it isn’t like the source is too far ahead… one more season and we’ll catch up. The most annoying thing btw was these guys who were bullying Will, just because… that’s all they can do. This thing won’t go away, I know, but let’s hope. Animation carried this one, now whenever the second season comes up.

The Evil Grand Duke is almost at the cusp of its last breath, all it needs is the gem and Rosti's reminder of Wand and Sword, with Sion's magic to make it his own unique magic sword, and defeating the monster by his own strength alone.

But even with the Grand Duke's defeat, the horde of Sentinels and Dukes have Lihanna's party all vulnerable, until the save by the king and the strongest Magia Vander of Light Sovereign wand Aaron Masterias Oldking, whom he acknowledges the party's perseverance, and Will being intimidated by this rather unkempt Supporter boy of Finn (whom DanMachi fans will recognize the link from Finn Deimne, leader of the Loki Familia) finally marking the end of the all-student Praxis test gone horrific. With no leads over the cruel death of the professors, Lihanna is relieved that her party is safe and sound...and proceeds to munch on food to replenish her magic that's meant for Will...or she's just a big glutton in general. Julius's whining aside, Will's magic sword takes the attention, and even the wielder himself doesn't know what's happened.

The errand boy who definitely met their enemies and recovered part of a sword that they were experimenting on, Finn taking care of the Swords while Headmaster Cauldron takes care of the Wands, he's definitely got his attention on the boy who wants to become a Wand. And it's no doubt that everyone feels the same about Will, and Sion still risking himself to challenge him, continuing the fight from where they left off at the Grand Magic Festival.

The next hurdle to reach the Tower: their graduation exams, and it starts in Season 2.

This show is the literate definition of "animation carried the show". It's good, but if only you see it as a standard Shonen anime, and nothing else.

Man, what a seasonal this was. Incredible from start to finish. May not have been the strongest story, but when you have production values like this it doesn’t matter. Congrats to Oomori sensei on another series with multiple seasons. I can’t wait to see what direction we go in in season 2!

They did it, they said the thing! “Wand and Sword” I don’t mind a replay of last week’s incredible fight at all. Starting the episode off with the rest of the group’s perspective on Will’s transformation was dope. But man things looked like they were going to get real dark there until the Magia Vander King showed up. Easily took out that whole horde of demons, but why was he in the dungeon in the first place? The conspiracy in me thinks he might be in on things but I could just be overthinking it

Considering how messed up things got, losing only students is a blessing. 11 dead faculty is obviously tragic, but this could’ve been a lot worse. Good to get a little bit of the gang just chilling and being silly even if it’s in a hospital bed. Lihanna giving Anna a run for her money in snacking lol, she was tearing those apples UP. Of course it’s because of the magic expenditure, right.. 😂

“Supporter” name drop?! So Oomori sensei literally bringing some direct callbacks to Danmachi into this one, interesting. Imagine if Wistoria ended up being a prequel to Danmachi or something lol. I got a bad feeling about that supporter who follows the Magia king though, something just feels off with the two of them. And man why is this dude Sion always trying to fight, fresh out the hospital and he trying to challenge Will to a duel lmao. Go sit your ass down somewhere please.

That’s a wrap folks, I didn’t even know Will and Colette were in their last year, so season 2 I’m guessing will take place after the exams.. if so, really curious about what the gang will be up to. Also a lot of questions in terms of who’s behind the attack, the flashbacks to Will as a baby, what the principal is up to, the supporter etc. This story just getting started!

One of the best of the season imo.
Classic battle shounen done right. Characters are cliché except MC but they are all enjoyable.
Amazing animation in most battle scenes.
Surprised it's not getting the attention Demon Slayer has.

Will is the focus of the story but everyone around him is the focus of the character development, Sion especially. Learning to accept different points of view and own weaknesses.

Definitely want more development for Will in season 2.

The wizard school trend that began in western two decades ago from Harry Potter fever are now beginning to impact Japan with anime like Mashle and Reign of the Seven Spellblades. Japan has its own way to apply its own storytelling style and I'm glad to announce that this anime has the perfect balance between originality and inspiration and I'm definitely looking forward to season 2, alongside with Mashle season 3. I'm 100% sure both are gonna be epic.

Huh...more characters, and more questions, of course! So this was the troublesome bunch our two mysterious antagonists were avoiding. So is Dumbledore...uhmm I mean Masterias Noah the strongest of them all? Aside from the headmistress of the Academy, he's the only one who fits our trope of wizards, he's an old geezer! LOL So Finn of the Finn tribe huh? And what about the sword/s the kept yammering about? And what the actual eff is the spell/skill/talent/etc Wiz anyway? Where did Rosty go after dropping that crystal thingy?

Season 2 finally confirmed, so something to look forward to in the future.

7/10 Enjoyed it so far, I hope the worldbuilding gets even better next season.

Some real important people showed up and I'm quite interested in the small guy from Finn tribe who can't use magic but has vast knowledge of the dungeon. Maybe Will is a mixed breed since he is not small but can't use magic. Cute Lihanna moments with her getting hungry, eating a lot and making excuses while looking cute. Kiki adorable once again. Ended the season in a nice way too.

Good season with neat action and world building with superb animation/visuals. Hope we get more focus lore/world building next season and also get to know more about Will's origin. Maybe more Elfie too which I doubt. Looking forward to s2.

And with this we reach the end of Wistoria.
This episode hinted us at a lot of lore behind the series, that we are probably getting to see in the already confirmed 2nd season! Really excited about that! I always like when anime that I like get a new season.
From the flashbacks that were shown once again in this episode, I realized that Will's mother must have made some pact to make her own son unable to use magic, and instead, be more of a swordsman. This is also implied later in the episode, where the characters notice how Will's body is already pratically recovered, when he was the one that took the most hits, which shows that there's something behind it, and it's just not hard work. It seems Will's mother believes that Sword and Wand should be one, to achieve true power, that was shown to us in this episode. But it seems that being able to combine the power of Magic and Sword is not something mages can do, and is instead a unique power, that, as of now, only Will has been shown to do. It is also implied that Elfie knows about this, and gives more depth on why she wants Will to join the Magia Vander so bad, because his sword is needed for something big. Why Will doesn't know it, when it's implied by Elfie (I mean, Rosty, but at this point it's super obvious Rosty is just a Elfie clone) that he should "remember" it.
Later in the episode we get to see the "Finn" boy, that is actually from a tribe that doesn't use magic, with the director of the academy, and we can see he is a poweful person, because she was really nervous when she understood that Finn discovered Will, and it's stated that Finn is the "leader" of the ones that use swords. With the combination of the fact that they don't use magic, but yes swords, I wonder if the pact that Will's mother made was with a person from the Finn tribe, because it would explain why Will was so fixated on Finn, and why he can't use magic, but excells in using swords. Not only this, but it seems like Finn and the academy's director want to prepare something to "overcome the sky". This whole sky thing was teased back in episode 3, but they didn't really developed that anymore, so it's good to see it back.
Honestly, this opens the doors for a lot of interesting lore that can be developed in season 2, and I honestly don't know why they didn't do it sooner. It seems like this season needed to be a 2 cour anime, because this first season seems to be only an introduction for the anime, more than anything else.
And that's why I'm having a bit of a hard scoring this anime, because while episode 1-3 and 9-12 were really good, and had an interesting plot being developed and introduced, episode 4-8 were just boring overall, with episode 4 just being unbearable to watch really. But at the same time, I have the feeling the 2nd season will be a lot more interesting plot-wise, and that made me really excited.
So I'm really between the 7 and the 8. The anime was for sure a fun watch, the plot and the characters were not that good overall in my opinion (Sion is such an unlikeable character), but the animation was really good, and the fight scenes and the whole setting of the anime were interesting, and seeing that the plot is getting better, makes me really excited for the 2nd season!
But I will need to think about the score for this one a bit, because I was thinking about giving it a 7, but this last episode made me rethink that.

Will took out the Grand Duke (thank you for the 3 minute recap of that 💀), and things almost went south even after that before Wizard Jiraiya stepped in. Being the king of the Magia Vander, it's no wonder evil Bakugo and his headless buddy wanted to avoid him. Speaking of those 2, I thought they were going to play a bigger role in this arc but I guess we'll have to wait for S2 for that.

For now, all's well that ends well. Love how Sion and Will were just casually vandalizing school property with their rematch 💀 overall it's amazing to see how far Will has come during the course of the show, and how he now has the respect of some of the school's top names. Well, at least from Lihanna and Wignall, Julius and Sion still seem pretty wishy washy lol.

Sometimes a simple story with fire animation is all I need from a show (esp. if it's action-based, animation will be a priority for me), and this show delivered in that regard. Basic is fine sometimes, I don't need everything I watch to be Pulitzer Prize-level. Really looking forward to S2, I'm happy it was announced right away.

Fun action dump but expecting more from worldbuilding/lore aspect of the show. Also, I need some clarification on the power scaling of the show, we haven't really seen a stronger character than Will yet (technically the black-haired Sensei but we didn't get to see him go all out and even got one upped by Will) and it feels like there is a lot regarding the whole Wand & Sword ability...

ED development with the grown up Will plushies was interesting, lol.

7/10 but I'll be hoping there'll be more to this when the 2nd season comes around.

Alot of interesting new things this episode, definitely makes me look forward to the second season.

While i'm not usually a big fan of action heavy shounen in general, i have been enjoying watching this show throughout the season. A decent story with good animation, nothing that wowed me but nothing that icked me either. I hope the second season gives me answers to the mysteries i can't seem to figure out myself. Maybe we'll get a some chicken little action where the sky falls down :)

I do wonder how much money the school has to waste on repairs with all these kids using spells that could level small villages on eachother for fun.
But hey, if they can fix heaven itself maybe repairing school property isn't that much of a hassle.

I was not expecting the Light Sovereign to appear, I thought they will be rescued by Workner and Edward.

"Finn" showed his face and my first thought was "He looks like Finn" (Danmachi).. a second later, he introduced himself as Finn.. lol.
Him having such an important name I knew he gonna be important, he actually seems to have the highest authority probably more than Caldron and the Magia Vanders. (or as he said, on the 'Sword' side of things).

Good finale/cut for the first season and season 2 is already announced!
I will probably read the Manga now coz I really got hook.

yeh sooo true, have to wait season 2 for the reveal just hope that team reveal it during season 2 promo, and don't tell me that they will only reveal it after the certain incident happened to Rosty.

anyway, if anyone did not notice , Lihanna just try breaking 4th wall just funny, even others in the group are speechless for a while watching her reaction.

Of course no body Main character actually dump in orphanage is son of some special character that have important role in world, seen in flashback with his mother then his roommate actually is his mother retainers. Then of course will can use magic power using sword, then there's faction of sword (finn) and magic which contradict with what they said earlier that no body use sword anymore.

his roommate also arrived there earlier than workner and edward even though they are flying using dragon.

All of that which of course COPIED INSPIRED from black clover.

Finn was mysterious. He even made the old lady Caldron sweat and he doesn't look like someone of his age. so Will might be related to the Finne tribe.

Turns out there are sword people like Finn, but apparently no one from the students knew of them to tell Will? More surprisingly, Will never read about non-magic sword-fighting people for some reason?

Slightly above average show for me.

Anyways, this was written by the same guy who made Danmachi. Felt like the same thing to be honest, especially when it comes to MC. I didn't really like that show either. Dunno, will likely not watch S2.

They all made it out alive. Will awakening some kind of power within himself to use the flames on his sword to defeat the evil grand duke. They should all get a portion of those credits after facing that huge monster. Getting saved by the king of the magia Vander and his cool wand staff. He kinda looked like a dwarf with how his face was drawn but that wasn't really asked or expanded upon. Good news for the group since they could get out of there. No students died but eleven professors did. Lots of new openings at the school that have to be filled now. As the students try to move forward we get some nice scenes with our group bonding in their hospital beds. I like that they've all grown closer now bonded over that traumatic experience. Will and Sion get their for real duel which is nice to see. This was a fun fantasy series that I very much enjoyed. There's some shortcomings since the story has just begun but I'm glad there's another season on the way.

it was a big surprise to this season.
Initially, I thought it was just another anime with good animation,

Um...did they just completely rewrite the main premise of the show, that in a world of magic no one has a use for swords anymore and Will is the only sword, and now everyone knows that high level groups have members of the sword faction in them?

Also, how is the Finn tribe (a tribe of short people with no magic) not just the dwarves (a race of short people with no magic)? Why are the Finns valued and respected but the dwarves were massacred and downtrodden?

What the fuck just happened?

As much as I've clowned on this show these past twelve weeks, what people are saying about "animation carried", clearly haven't seen Demon Slayer and Kaiju No. 8 lol. The story has promise unlike in those two shows.

Do hope that in season two they do actually touch on the worldbuilding and other things, but for now, yeah this season was majorly carried by animation.

Oh well, time to go watch DanMachi now.

The world-building that took place in this season's finale made me super excited to watch Season 2 WHICH GOT ANNOUNCED AT THE END!!! I NEED MORE!!! Visuals were still the most standout thing about this show. While there were noticeable quality drops, it was still so much better than a lot of other shows of the genre. Though I still couldn't help but nitpick at some derpy faces and such.

The character writing on the other hand is about unaspiring as can be. I'll just cope by telling myself they're teens.

I am glad we're getting a second season though. Would like to see some progression towards the story as a lot of these fantasy series just kind of go no where.

Sion Ulster is just too arrogant, he will never beat Will Serfort. His sword abilities surpasses a lot Sion’s wand. He proved he can be very reliable and trustful and strong enough to defeat worthy monsters.

The final exams came and Will is going to graduate. I am happy that a second season has been announced, the story is not over yet.

It would be nice if Colette and Will became even more closer, they are so cute together!

Although the premise is very generic with a guy with no magic going to a magic school, they executed it pretty well. The animation, especially, is top tier with the fights.
