Mixed feelings from this. On its own anime seems good, but...its stupid how now out of nowhere there is technologies to isolate certain territory. Eve more so assicaly HQ of Black Knights. Mechs now looks more skinny and tho combat looks good to me its now more on super robot side. Sakuya having same geass as Lelouch is boring, would e etter if it actually required to give target an options. Also I understand that Neo-Britania are posers, but now it seems so easy to deal with its high officials not needing tactics, funds and organisation. Overall everything new seems interesting but repeated elements and tropes looks lame
@Leongolleyn I don't think it's out of nowhere. It's probably the same technology used by the flying fortress or even better

@thepath Have the same surname, have similar looks. Wow, I wonder if she's related.

I feel like some people were making a little too much of a big deal of the absense of Lelouch. For someone who's coming of Gundam, this is just the norm.
@Raibyou it's seriously annoying

Tbh it is retreading stuff we've already seen a little too hard but I think it's a pretty decent start. I do hope Lelouch has some role to play in the story. It doesn't have to be a main role at all.

The primary thing I would dislike most of all is an active avoidance of previous material. It's common for sequels made by new teams to get overzealous in standing on their own by distancing themselves heavily from what came before. It's really not necessary. Let old characters show up in minor roles. Let us see how their lives have developed since R3.

Gotta be honest, I was ready to hate-watch this. Code Geass is my favorite anime out of the 2500 I've watched because I loved the ending. Just by concept alone, I hated the idea of Resurrection and didn't like Akito as much. But this one, this one felt like a true successor to the "rebellion" Lelouch sought, while also giving us a more grounded reason as to why the conflict restarted. To be honest, I would still prefer that Code Geass was left alone, but hey, Akito felt more like a Suzaku successor. Resurrection was a little distasteful for me, but Sakuya truly feels like a Lelouch successor, in ideas and ideals, at least as far as first impressions go. We'll see.
Being a fan is like having a penis. Its nice to be proud of it But don't pull it out in public and wave it in other's faces

She literally used the power like Lelouch. And Lelouch has become like CC, a contractor who can give geass + in 3rd movie trailer of this series they showed a glimpse of Lelouch, So yep
@Apratim Which movie is that? I didn't notice this.

In Lelouch of Resurrection movie, lelouch resurrected. And now in one of the teasers of this roze of recapture they showed Lelouch cameo. Most Probably in Sakuya Sumeragi's character trailer

kinda need guide

so..uh..

1. is this connected to original series wherein leoluch "died" and britannia releases all of its overseas territories and under nunnally's reign (i think? i forgot cause its been a long time xD)

2. if not, where should i get start

i'm kinda confused watching this mainly why britannia is back colonizing again, what happen to the government nunnally originally created after her brother's "death" and how the gal got her gease. but other than that. i think the episode is quite good. its clean, the op is super good too

The message I'm getting is that the creators are being too repetitive and afraid of risk.

- One main character is a strategically ingenious Geass user
- Other main character is a skilled Knightmare pilot
- Oppresive empire subjugates the Japanese
- Small rebel group fighting to liberate their country
- Main character isn't associated with the rebels, but joins up with them for his own personal reasons

All of this in just episode one. Lelouch of the Rebellion literally ends with all wars being ceased (which was actually followed up on in Lelouch of the Resurrection), how did they fuck this up? Hoping this series ends up being good, even if they don't want to do that the creative way

@Animaaaaaaa

R2 is done for years and the only thing they had w/ TV series is rebroadcast with changed OP/EDs.

Everything they did for "10 years plan" is basically connected to 3 recaps movies -> Resu movie -> Roze -> ????????

2nd question? Lack of creativity + Neo Zeon v2 ;)

Okay, I just watched this episode. I can say it looks interesting. I don't expect anything at the main series level of story, and that's not to say I am not looking forward to this one. Just that it's clearly different. I will be keeping this show close and checking it weekly.

Interesting start...but I had few thoughts as I watched (narrowed down to 2 points though:

-- Schneizal gets all the credit of quelling down the chaos after "Emperoro Lelouch died"? wait....what.....I thought it was credit Nunally? I question my memory but it still sucks hat sucks she wasn't mentioned...
-- Sumeragi Sakuya? I had to make a double take and look up again Kaguya's description...yep, that's definitely NOT the same person.

SO....my guess is Sakuya and Sakura are twins separated at birth and they MIGHT be Kaguya's kids (cuz Kaguya's description said she was the last of "Sumeragi clan" outside of Suzaku, etc...).....So originally Sakuya saying some random Brittannia name as her mother threw me off but could've been her adopted mom since we already saw the two "twins" got separated in the beginning flashback

Interesting...this definitely caught my interest way more than Akito....(also Akito had an irregular release schedule so that didn't help it...)

edit: Ah, forgot to mention....That Geass seems more "audio" than "visual" like Lelouch's was....so HMMmmm...

Thought a Code Geass continuation without Lelouch would be kinda meh but I can't deny how intriguing this ended up being.

Also, the concept of a hearing-based Geass whose targets get to choose whether or not to obey the user's commands is damn cool

Cant be Code Geass without a chess match that has nothing to do with the real chess. Ah, and dont forget the edgy writing for kids of twelve years. It's rare that in the first episode we dont have tons of fanservice, but i'm sure that the next episodes are going to fix that

Blatant racism like this always amuse me, not because it's so blatant that you can say it's not realistic or something, but due to the fact that in our world, an entire nation is doing that and is well documented, and yet they managed to paint themselves as the victim and many people blindly believe it.

Oh well enough talk about real world. This episode at least is better than Akito, though I really can't say I appreciate the big brother character casually having Lancelot/Guren-tier Knightmare and Spinzaku-like skill inside an occupied territory fighting what looks like 6th/7th gen Knightmare that pretty much can't do sheet against him, and the plot is pretty much repeating Rebellion. Well, they did tried to make different formula like Akito and man it's so bad, so I guess I need to be satisfied with this if I want to continue watching. Need to appreciate the animation that is just so good and smooth though, with 2D fight instead of 3D like Akito.

I watched the first episode with high expectations—after all, it's Code Geass. But I ended up feeling deeply disappointed. While I appreciate the attempt at a solid side storyline, it felt more like an artificial extension from Akito rather than a true continuation of the original series. The music also lacked originality, carrying that same synthetic vibe from Akito rather than something fresh or iconic.

The real letdown, though, was in the scripting, action, and voice acting. There was little to no emotion behind the deaths and actions, making everything feel flat and meaningless. The action scenes were especially underwhelming, which is surprising considering Akito at least got the action right.

On a personal note, the choice of a female protagonist didn't sit well with me. It felt like fan service aimed at attracting a broader audience and simplifying the narrative. This isn't about being against female characters, but for this particular theme, a male protagonist would have made more sense. Just like in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, male characters bring out a sense of emotion, resolve, and a "classy knight" feel that resonates deeply. These traits are historically associated with nobility and chivalry, often depicted through male figures. A male character with refined, almost feminine gestures can evoke a sense of royalty and class that aligns well with such themes.

However, a female character who excels in combat, like Karen, with more masculine traits, could be just as compelling, if not more so, in that role. It’s not about one gender being better suited than the other, but about how certain roles and themes are more authentically portrayed by specific genders. Although it was a sterotype, but just an example if a male cry it would give a lot of meanings a they usually hide their feelings and trying be and act tough, where as girls crying was pretty normal as they are much more emotional and don't hide that side of their feelings.

Honestly, everything released since Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion has been disappointing. While Resurrection was great, it lacked the sheer intensity and surprise that made Seasons 1 and 2 so iconic. Maybe the element of surprise has just grown old and outdated. But everything else, like Akito and this new installment, feels more like a completely different Gundam anime that just happens to retain some elements of Geass. It's a very disappointing series overall.

Does this have anything to do with the original authors of Code Geass, or is it a completely new staff? and is it also the same universe?
@RodrigoGM It was supposed to be a stand alone side story of what happened after the movie resurrrection. But the plot, scripting, everything is so trash and retarded that nothing even make sense as they somewhat trying to link it to the original series, i mean ruining it by bringing and including those characters here, they just show their faces, got involved somehow and do nothing with it. Yes, quite literally that and it does not even make sense.... the ending for original s1 and s2 is total ruined... I am beyong speechless to this trash series man. Just a mashup cash crap fan service bull**** with no actual substance abusing the brand of code geass.

This is a trash series through and through that is worse than the new gundam S*** is pathetic and sad.

@Gator It does feel really similar. - Just smaller scale this time since it's about occupied Hokkaido.

Decent start, it feels a bit disjointed and rushed imo.
Britannia (after it's downfall) is somehow able to recapture Hokkaido and keep that barrier up, no idea where they get the energy from though.

I actually thought Sakuya was Kaguya, they even share the same last name.
She's also related to the Britannia family (Sherry being her mother) so she could be a niece to Lelouch.
I'm guessing she got the Geass from Lelouch at one point.

Even though the plot seems like a kinda ass rip-off of the original. It wasn't bad. The animation is clean, especially the action scenes were well made and most importantly it delivered a honestly cool code geass like plot twist near the end of the episode :D
