Now that we know how Ruomen who raised her was like, we all now understand how did Maomao became such a Sherlock Holmes.
As per usual, Gyokuyou is having the most amusement from Maomao and Jinshi's interactions, but this time Honnyan (instead of Gaoshun) plays the tsukomi instead. Bet you, if not because Gyokuyou is her charge, as a tsukomi, Honnyan would absolutely slap her with shamisen (or fan) as well for laughing. "Warana~!", she'd cried.

This episode would be frustrating for the audience. The reason would be:
And it's a good direction to settle the episode with the short comedy of Jinshi that was actually the introduction of the next arc.
- Many of the casts regarding to the incident are new to the audience.
- The pacing is too fast for the amount of information.
- The audience couldn't get an explicit solution for the incident.

It is a murder and they are all in on it.They are just apothecary and not the law enforcement. Most of their deductions are based on speculation alone. You don't see your local EMT breaking patient privacy and solving crimes, right? |

| I would love to see Maomao not end up with anyone. She's such a free creature, I would hate to see her be compromised. I enjoy the dynamic between her and Jinshi, but I don't like him. In a good way tho! I enjoy disliking him. idk I guess I feel the same way about him that Maomao does...lol. I just hope it doesn't turn into just another "enemies to lovers"/ tsundere thing. The pink hair lady is such a prankster..lol. She was really getting a kick out of Jinshi going crazy. It's definitely in the running for AOTS for me personally. |

I think that courtesan didn't actually fall in love with that man, but rather she heard about his reputation and wanted him killed. And I definitely believe that the entire brothel (including the little sister girl) knew that the courtesan was planning this and wanted to keep the silence on purpose. This was indeed a strong case.

| Nicotine poisoning can cause vomiting and paralysis of the respiratory muscles which is why mouth to mouth was needed. We weren't told what herbs were given unless I missed something. However in a charcoal preparation which is commonly done in TCM the charcoal may in theory act as an absorbent of the nicotine assuming it is activated charcoal. Activated charcoal has tiny holes in it that traps certain molecules but not so much water and nicotine is one of the things it is able to absorb. This isn't wildly different from what it done in modern medicine as far as I am aware. This of course only captures the nicotine in the stomach and possibly intestines depending on when the stomach emptying occurs, not what is already in the blood stream, though once it passes through the kidneys Id assume it may filter a little from the blood. If we were to assume it followed similar procedure as modern medicine the herbs would have been laxatives and something to prevent seizures and stabilize heart rate. One drug used to counter the nicotine is atropine (which can raise heart rate but I assume why it's used for nicotine is it is a stronger binder to receptors with a weaker action than nicotine? Maybe if any med student reads this they could explain) which you can obtain from various poisonous plants and there is some natural laxatives too though I am unsure what would exist in this supposed environment. | Such a chaotic start... Maomao still managed to save their lives but that was certainly rough. That ending had me feeling for the dude, Maomao is so dense with these stuff it leads to such hilarious scenes! It seems I catched up with the anime, sad fact. Checking the source material, up to episode 8 it seems it was adapted up to LN vol1, chapter 24! A single volume so far used, that is crazy, they are going slow-paced, slowly savoring the source material. My guess would be that these 24 episodes will adapt at most 4 volumes or 3 volumes. THUS there is more than enough material to get 75 episodes in total for this series already, which leaves me very excited and hopeful for the future of this adaptation! Also cant praise the OP1 enough, it is so stylish I fear OP2 might disappoint me in comparison. |

| What the hell was this episode, at least in the second half? Maomao annoys me because she doesn't explain herself which ends up in serious miscommunication and misunderstanding. Poor Jinshi thinks Maomao slept with the other guy. This episode went by too fast though, literally blinked and it was over. |

| This entire murder mystery type episode really reminded me a lot of Conan, from the solution to the mystery itself. It doesn't look like Jinshi is recovering from that last bit anytime soon. |
