How I rate:

*I don't think any anime is perfect, and my 10/10s are rather personally set as such than I would say they are objectively perfect. I'd say I equally like my 9s and 10s, and I even have some of my favorites as only 9s because I'd say they are personally engaging to my tastes, yet might not be approachable for everyone (i.e. Texhnolyze, Angel's Egg, or Legend of the Galactic Heroes). Still, I try to be as critical as possible with what I watch and how I rate it.

For example, I grew up with Inuyasha and Naruto, and even though I still like these two series for various reasons I recognize quite a few issues with these shows today I cannot ignore. Ranma 1/2 as well is a show that comes to my mind that I like, but critically I don't have it rated very highly on my chart (Always struggle with rating Eureka 7 too).

I give 3 points out to the categories of character, plot, and composition (animation, sound design, music) when I rate with 1 quality point for if I personally had fun watching something despite the other categories.
