I was pretty unsure about the harem tag too but if it isn't harem then it has everything which I love in rom coms

its not harem. It looks like one but isn't. They instantly add that tag when there are more than 2 girls on screen at any given time.

I'm just so confused what's supposed to be implied by the soccer scene. What made him change? Why would he not realize he's completely different? It's weird, but it's also literally the only thing separating this from any other harem romcom.

The realist boy that is Wataru "Sajotchi" Sajo, with his ever so stalk-ish nature on his crush: fellow classmate Aika Natsukawa, and the moment of change is when a soccer ball narrowly hits him like a mind-blowing explosion.

Together with Aika's good friend of Kei Ashida, his stalking fanatic of Aika is known to the entire school, though him being realist is out of the ordinary for all expecting the usual rom-com. The next-door class's Rena Aizawa feels intrigued on his behaviour, though this earns the ire of his classmates and leaves him on airs, apart from Rena having had an ex-boyfriend in the form of 2nd Year Kazuki Arimura, which Kei just casually blurts out like nothing.

Apologizing in their stead, Sajo laments with Rena on the fact that the love they had for each other was equivalent to swings and misses of misunderstandings. It's the same with Sajo falling for Aika in the most unkempt of circumstances after a rejection of his own. Though Kei did it because she thought that Rena has ulterior motives on Sajo, which is warranted. It's a good thing that both Rena and Arimura got back together, but while Sajo knows that he's out of league for Aika, her suddenly appearing at his house to tell him that she got asked out and calling out his weird behaviour of not being a stalker, he goes for gold to ask her out, despite knowing that she''ll reject him time and time again.

Other than his older sister, the Student Council's vice president Kaede butting into their conversation, Sajo's ready to move on from his and Aika's "divorce", though she doesn't feel like letting go because of his diverse personality.

A rather mediocre start that throws logic and plot points out of the window, no thanks very much.
