Michi feels like an underdog in this...especially with her size against a bigger opponent.

Felt like this match had its excitement as usual. Michi truly has stepped up for herself and the team. She's improving everyday regardless who she is up against. Very proud of her progress and her teammates also cheered her on. Loved that teamwork spirit!

Well that was a complete bust for the opponent team, surely they have tried, yet failed ... but thankfully, there is always another time :). On the other side, our Michi scored not one, but two ippons in a single match, good for her.

The competition continues.

Aoba West vs. Hakata South, and Michi scores first blood over Sachi. The latter's 2nd running being Kotoko Nogizawa, and though she's cautious about Michi's steps, that didn't stop her from producing yet another ippon. The last player being Natsu Umehara, she was how the judo club kickstarted, but the alumni sure are distracting at best to give her any focus. It's only when Kotoko shuts them up, then she can focus hard and have fun.

Even when she's down, the alumni never fail to push her out of Michi's hold, and despite initially losing by a waza-ari, the match is not over yet until any one is down, and Michi bolded through all 3 girls. Despite that, Natsu did great, even by earning a waza-ari, with their coach in the learning process as well.

Onwards to the next stage with Nishikiyama High for Aoba West.

Really, the characters here, main or supporting, all are well developed, as is the case with Hakata South.

Michi finally got the chance to be the star of the match, I feel bad about the other team, was hoping for Nacchan to at least get a victory, now Sanae is all hyped up to help the team but that preview doesn't seem like a good sign.

Man, it felt like the main characters were different this episode lol, I’m kinda amazed they devoted that much backstory and focus on characters that didn’t get a single round on our actual main characters but hey I loved it, it made me care a lot more about the match and the characters involved, I especially loved the shift in cheering from the crowd when it came to Nacchan’s match, they went from cheering for their school to Nacchan herself which ended up giving the cheering its intended purpose in motivating Nacchan to fight back a bit against Michi, one of the guys straight up live coached her mid match which I don’t think is allowed but it’s anime so it’s okay lol.

But sadly the shifting of gears was too late and Michi scored her another Ippon, the focus may have been on the other team this time but I won’t let that take Michi’s massive win from her because she rocked it, but the next opponent sounds like a big deal and looks like it too from the next time preview, it’ll be interesting to see how they tackle this next match. And it’s occurring to me now that there’s only three episodes left when it feels like there should be a lot more, or at least that’s what I want lol.

Keeping matches interesting over the span of the series is always a tough task for sports anime... So why not switch things up and have the opponents be the protagonists for one match? I really loved that style.

Tthis show managed to make all of the Hakata South characters, including Sensei and Fanclub, get better character development over a single episode than some bad shows give their mains over their entire lifespan. I loved their internal dynamic and also how they matched the "real" protagonists, as Nacchan not only saw Michi defeat an opponent much bigger than her, but also bear her with the technique she wanted to master. Also, I hope the allumni will go and support the training of their school. They might unlock some potential in the team!

And besides Hakata South, the other characters are great as ever! Michi finally sees her efforts paying off, Towa and Erika get ready to take their teams to the final and it seems Sanae will get the spotlight next week, with the goal to take down five opponents in a row! Can't wait for it!

from not having an ippon to making three in row, amazing michi.

I was kind fo cheering for nacchan at the end, at least that she take down michi but this works too. The momentum was played well.

Not only Michi beat three opponents but Midoriko beat FIVE. Absolutely crazy display of techniques!

5/5 Episode. Kinda wish Natsu would have won at least once but well. Hope Hakata South girls have better luck next time.

One thing makes this tournament portion stand out for me. The creators show everyone's backstory. Everyone's motivation to win. But we know not everyone can win.

Congratulations to Michi~ for beating three opponents by herself! I thought Nacchan would win at least once in the last round but luck was still with Aoba Nishi. Hakata Minami did really well, I hope they can win next time!

It's awesome that Michi won over 3 opponents in a row! Both teams did their best, so I wonder if they'll get the champion by the end of the season.

I'm so happy for Michi. All her hard work finally paid off. She took down the entire team herself. Felt bad for Nacchan and her team though, better luck next time.

I feel bad for homegirls who lost all their matches. They are really nice, but it is sport after all.
Some of the people in comments said their background story was unnecessary, but i think that was really touching. They also reanimated judo club in their school, but alas. They need a real coach and more members, i'm sure, they are gonna be ok.
I believe manga is pretty long, so maybe there will be more of them.
