Damn, this episode had a surreal experimental feeling to it.

It still had the harsh environments and adventure-style themes but also introduced us to Brad and Luida. Pretty interesting how this also ties back to Vash's connection and character. Definitely had a different feel compared to the other episodes but still important to the overall series.

Now were getting Vash backstory how he came to survive the ship crash and be on his own. Found by survivors of one of the other ship's that crashed at the same time Vash ship did. Him being a humanoid plant made it hard for that ships occupants to trust Vash, I liked seeing how they grew closer. Especially with the main two we saw Vash interact with. He grew close only for it to be ripped away. Its sad to always see Vash have to leave people he cares about. We saw it before with that town he saved at the start of the show, with Rem sacrificing herself to save Vash and Knives, then here with these people on ship three. It was nice that Vash talked to all the plants to help the all survive, being a humanoid plant himself has some uses. Vash carries around a ton of guilt for not stopping Knives from killing all those people on their ship so he feels like he has to do more to atone. Vash is a very heartfelt soul wanting to help people but being faced with his psycho brother.

this episode was the first for me to feel so short even though a good amount of stuff happened in it! there was a lot more exposition so I guess I was just immersed in it all. we finally got confirmation that Vash was a plant even though last episode hinted at it. was also cool seeing vash grow up and getting rid of that L bowl cut (whoever was his and nai's barber on their original ship deserves to get flamed fr), seems like next episode we will learn more about knives & his motivations, the preview for it looked pretty brutal. worried about luida's wellbeing for sure. can't wait to see what happens!

The re-account of the doting mother Rem Savarem with the twins of Vash and Million "Nai" Knives, it's clear that whatever Nai was aiming for, his destruction would be one that Vash could not afford to turn his eyes away from, running away until he was found. "Independents", or "plants" cloned from original cells, Vash was one that escaped from Ship 5, only to be found by Luida and Brad in a research facility. And while explaining to Luida about the perils of his past life when things were alright, it's hard to get him to acclimatize to the new environment when he lost everything he had hoped for.

The more both Luida and Brad hear about Vash's plant situation and his connection to them, this is all the he could do to save even more lives, and both rewarded Vash being a resident of Ship 3 while giving him a sense of motivation to heal the numerous plants around, growing up as if he's part of their new family and the one place that he could call home. The Black Box that Brad managed to unravel, that was the final nail in the coffin to tell them that Vash was one not to be trusted, thinking that he's working together with Nai.

In the end, there is still no escape for the Independent, and his atonement to take care of his other Independent psycho brother, Vash is off on a journey of his own, until the moment he was saved and came back home again, for the 2nd time, facing Nai.

What an episode, the dark tunes of this new rendition just never stops to amaze me.

Just 4 more episodes to get a resolution to the Woolfood and Livio plot line, also gotta get through the remaining Gung-Ho-Guns, Legato and Knives...they could leave room for a season 2 honestly.

We got a deeper look at Vash's backstory and it was nice to get a time lapse that showed him grow up and gain the trust of the people on Ship Three. Unfortunately, yet predictably, that didn't last forever as Brad managed to restore the black box and hear Knives' conversation with Vash, giving the misleading impression that they were working together. Luida going out to bring Vash back is giving off all kinds of death flags for her. Ominous cliffhanger to leave us with this week.

Pretty good episode so far! We finally got to see Vash's backstory unfold fashion, although i'm surprised we didn't spend much time with Rem in this new show. I'm guessing the showrunners thought that fans already know the story with Rem and wanted to get to the point faster or we learn more about Rem in next episode. Only time will tell. I admit i was initially harsh on Trigun Stampede due to some of the changes and probably my love for the original 90's show and manga. But looking back, it tries to tell new story of Trigun and while i'm not fan of the some changes, it does fit the flow of narrative better and Stampede is worthy take on the original show and manga(I've noticed it paid homages to both 90s show and anime in some fashion) The show definitely improved for me during Episode 6-onwards. One thing i'm hoping to see for Trigun Stampede is Tesla and background of Legato Bluesummers(one of my favourite anime villains of all time)

I hate to say it, but I have a terrible feeling that Luida is totally going to be killed off. Vash isn’t allowed to have nice things in this reboot. 😢

I was bored and underwhelmed by this episode. We were given a small amount backstory and yet it felt like nothing happened. Vash was found by crew from another ship after his split with Knives, but then he ran away after they found out that his brother sabotaged the other ship and he had a role in it. That's barely anything for a half hour episode.

We weren't shown why Knives decided to snap or why Vash gave him the access codes. I'm just going to assume they'll cover it in a future episode so I'll give them a pass for it now, but this show has weird pacing issues. On one hand the story feels rushed, and yet it feels like it's moving too slowly or not much happens in an episode.

Another marvelous episode. Those scenes with Rem hit differently in animated format of such gorgeous quality.

Vash's life was harsh from the start. Just when he seemed to have found peace, everything went south.

I'm excited to see Vash and Knives' meeting after such a long time since the Great Fall.

EPipsode 8 tackled an important arc from the O.G with lots of changes. The Changes were for the better as it fleshed out Vash and knives origins in a broader way. Another stellar episode but kinda a cliffhanger haha

so what Vash generates as a plant is the ability to communicate with other plants, and essentially "heal" them? no wonder he's so empathetic, as if wanting to atone for his unintended role in killing hundreds (thousands?) wasn't already reason enough

one thing i don't like about this episode, though, is that Vash is getting older but no one else is. i thought he was super old and aged really slowly? shouldn't all the seed scientists be aging faster than Vash?

and did they skip over how Vash got that arm?

So Vash and his twin Nai are plants that can communicate with other plants. Just when Vash was settling in on the remains of Ship 3 and gaining the trust of Brad and Rudia, the truth comes out about the other independent plant being Nai that Vash didn't tell them about. Vash was forced to runaway after overhearing Brad and Rudia hearing the truth from the damaged black box. Of course, Vash eventually returned to Ship 3 only to find it abandoned and running into Knives.

Every-time the show replays that scene where Knives calls Vash his accomplice with that shit-eating cartoony villainous "Right, Vash?' the show lose points for me. Besides that, this was a pretty enjoyable episode. I remember Brad being a thing in the original anime, though I think his role was different. Either way, I liked this episode, it's a somewhat comforting experience, seeing this turn from Ship 3 to home. Which reminds me, I like that they've been saving the title cards for specific moments in the narrative, even if it means it'll be happening in the last third of the runtime. They did this last time with "Wolfwood", showing it after he insisted he was Nicholas the Punisher, as if the episode itself was calling him out for his false bravado. Here, it's too punctuate the Home decision and set-up for him leaving. The only other problem with this episode is I'm not sure what point there was to showing Vash returned on the ship with the new arm then immediately flashing back to the circumstance. Seemed kinda pointless.

A flashback that explains the patterns on Vash's face, his connection to the lost technology and even his red jacket.
So Plants in this world are organisms producing the organisms humanity needs to space colonisation and he and his twin were Plants bred for that purpose. Vash has a complex about being unable to produce anything useful like most plants do but as a plant he is able to empathise with other Plants, landing him a job as a doctor of sorts for the plants.

The more this anime reveals the more my sense of dread builds. Knives is definitely going to kill everyone on Ship Three.

A lot was revealed about Vash and Knives’ past this episode but we still don’t actually know what happened with the crash. Obviously, Knives caused it but the big question is why?

I love the prequel-like foundation in this series, while meshing original content from Trigun. The characters are embellished beautifully into the story and equally share their importance as the cast. Kenji Mutō and studio Orange have really delivered something special with this.
