| I thought the animal sounds while she was masturbating were just the sounds of the bed creaking and stuff. I don't know. That scene confused me on if the photographer raped her or she was fantasizing about it. It creeped me out. This was a pretty good episode though. Akira is sort of like Peter Parker in Spiderman 3 but less cheesy. |
| The scene where Akira showed off his new body at school was great, it seemed Kill la Kill inspired to me with the way it was cut and the way it animated the fan girls. Not only was it hilarious but it quite clearly showed us the devil urges that he now has. He has sexual urges in which he watches porn with speakers on and walks around with a bulge, later he stares at the secretaries boobs and butt in the hospital room with Ryo. Recall how in the first episode he couldn't even look at the Sabbath girls boobs without blushing. Smart fan service! It showed his urge for hunger with how he ate every girls meal, and later how he drooled like an animal over the meal Ryo got him. And not so long after that it showed his urge for violence with how he provoked the rappers to a fight so he'd have a chance to try out his new body in a fight. I also assume the way he went from the slowest on the track team, lagging behind Miki was contrasted by him outrunning her like a cheetah was to symbolize that he's no longer lagging behind her in life. What a great and well constructed form of characterization. Even with these devil urges we still see he's our good old Akira though. He hugged Ryo the same way as he did last episode. He cried over the crying wife story as well as when he confronted the devils who killed the chief priest. He still has his good nature even if it's supplied with more confidence as he saved Miki from the sleazy photographer this time alike how he saved her from the rappers last episode. As if all this wasn't enough amazing characterization for our protagonist we also got a flashback of his past when he was forced to separate from his parents. I wonder if the wall of their photos is from postcards they've sent him. We can infer he hasn't seen them for a long time with that scene coming from his perspective as a child. The use of the old Devilman song was charming and the fact that Taro uses Akira's account on the computer is adorably hilarious. He's seeing some stuff he probably shouldn't. He see's the porn and learns about devils that way. I'm surprised we didn't see Miki confront Akira after he was caught beating up the rappers. That said it doesn't seem as though Miki is confrontational and it would be impossible to deny she wasn't relieved when she saw Akira crying in the dinner scene, if anything that's actually a much more subtle way to approach that issue. She was relieved because she knows he's still himself and that he's okay. Recall how she avoids confronting the sleazy photographer and instead keeps pushing the issue of nude photographs aside, and instead of dealing with him she pretends she's busy and runs off, alone, to the docks to escape. If I'm right about this, she is a subtle and in depth supporting character and I like that a lot. I mean it when I say every time I rewatch a scene, I see something brand new. This time the big one was the amount of detail in this room! This among plot details, or the fact that the first person we saw dying in the scrapyard was the chief priest and seeing him use the gun with such proficiency proves that he did collect and use guns like the little brother said. "I'm not a devil. I'm... Devilman!", highlight of the episode for me after all that other amazing stuff. |

| I hate this theme the episode is going on. It is like all they ever did was add some surreal stuff and way bad fan service. Girl walks in? Show her oppai. 2 girls talk? Make em bang. Girl masturbates? Donkey sounds. Boy watches tv? Show nudity. This is one messed up Japan they are showing. Also, the animation seems to be bottom level. Overall, this episode was a mess of things. |

| It's pretty ridiculous to see how dramatic his personality had changed with him directly acting out what his newly-acquired body wants to do without even realizing it but it was really fun to watch. To be fair, he did get really carried away by testing the limits of his Devilman body and it looks like his regard for the people he loves haven't changed a bit. That gun-toting, watch-flashing monk's really weird but I'm sure that he was a nice guy for Akira to cry to, assuming that he doesn't cry over just anyone's death if he had happened to hear about it. Nagasaki should've been the one eaten instead. It's pretty unfortunate that she got caught into the high-schooler porn scene when she tried to fill in Miki's position when she started ditching the whole gravure model business. Miko making donkey noises while getting off to Akira's massive Devil D definitely represents how much of a fool she is to indulge in her animalistic desires. It's just like that scene in Pleasure Island from Pinocchio. |

| Welp, this took a turn out I didn't anticipate, I never thought they would go the road of high school popular bad kid that captivates the hearts of all young girls. Now he'll probably have to stay at Ryo's unless he stops that photographer before he manages to expose his identity to the world. I imagine that would only cause his foster family trouble, they seemed like nice people. It looks like his Demon Amon is quite the big shot and that beautiful woman in white looks like real trouble. That young boy in their house will someday be in a tough situation at his hand, better go back watching your cartoon before you end up as a fool. It was great to hear the opening song of the original series in here. |

| I watched first two episodes. This anime is clearly fast-paced and skipping some parts to create mystery. I can't say it's bad, but it is not good either. Also, it gave me a pretty weird taste with this color changes, random acts of characters etc. . Not in a bad way tho. just weird... |

| This show has no boundaries and doesn't play it safe, I really respect that. So many anime that are highly rated nowadays feels really by the book or safe and underwhelming for me, this show goes off the rails with its vision and continues to also translate Go Nagai's original manga from the 70s, really smoothly to more modern times and a modern society too. Akira's a Devilman, someone who can transform to a devil on the outside but has humanity on the inside even despite the change in build and a bit of character too with a more sinister and aggressive presence at times when his devilish feelings bear fruit sometimes subconsciously. Basic but solid enough characterization in this episode for him. Him riding on the bike while the remix of the original Devilman theme playing was so good, that song's such a banger, one of my favorite songs of that year from an anime. The donkey noises during Kuroda's masturbation scene were... something. Had me laughing at least, Masaki Yuasa and co. just don't care whatsoever, they're just having fun with no boundaries here since it's a Netflix anime and they don't have to restrict their mindsets to the TV-guidlines. A bit too out of control for that particular scene imo though, since it felt too random for me. Also feel like while the show is crazy and acidic with its nature, the pacing also is a bit too reactive because of that. The story does feel rushed to a small degree, but doesn't bother me too much for this show since the presentation and atmosphere is what makes the story work even better for me and Devilman Crybaby nails that so far. |

He got a mission to destroy a devil or monster who involved into Sabbath ritual. More build up character and straight to the story. Ryo is still sus, he got a motive by turn Akira into a devil. |
| Okay, I see what Yuasa was going for. Social commentary through exaggerations. I still think 1st episode was a bit TOO fast. Pacing actually works quite well overall. Ryou is not a human himself, isn't he? Either way, he is an obvious messiah complex manipulator (or speaking in personality types and stuff ENTJ 1w2 EIE). |

| Ha, new Akira shut down those nasty girls that wouldn't have been attracted him before. He's not into kids. Look at all them bowls of Katsu curry. Using the school auditorium to play porn lmao. Miki's brother plays the original theme song when he uses Akira's account on the living room computer (remember last episode, playing porn on that was mentioned) Akira wins through his inhuman run but slows down deliberately to 10s in the dash so as to not arouse too much suspicion. So the pervert photographer (though part of the crookedness is the boss who pays him to photograph young people) wants to keep photographing Miki and her fellow track athlete Kuroda is jealous of that, to the point she fantasises about being raped by him (cue donkey sound) is it censorship or is foreshadowing she'll become a donkey devil? With the photographer looking to diversify his portfolio with more than just the lewd content his boss pays him for, he records a Sabbath party but incidentally records Akira's transformation into Devilman, which is bad news for him and Ryo. |

| In the masturbation scene, I think the donkey braying was a parody of her sexual moans, mocking the foolishness of her fantasy. Miki is troubled by a sleazy tabloid photographer who wants to take and publish nude photos of her and this girl is jealous of the attention she's getting and wishes it was her, even imaging sex with the photographer (i.e. being desired beyond the value of the pictures). The audience learns he's sick and tired of tabloid stuff so it's not likely he really would have acted like that! Akira's dismissive line that "everyone works hard" was an interesting twist on that particular Japanese fixation. |
Pretty good series so far, crazy graphic way more than I thought it would be, but I love Akira's devil design, I'm really wondering like the meaning of it right now! |

| Akira really is a stark contrast compared to how he was in the first episode and it’s all due to last evening of him becoming Devilman. He went from a weedy guy who cries a lot to a buff and muscular tough guy. I mean I’ve heard of character development but this dude, I mean he went beyond different. Watching porn at school, having girls just fawn over him, even picking a fight with the thugs from the first episode. That sleazy reporter definitely wants something different than the stuff he’s getting which unfortunately comes in the form of accidentally filming Akira in mid transformation as Devilman. It’s certainly bad news not just for Ryo but Akira who we do find out has Christian parents and if they ever caught wind that he’s turning into a demon at night while also killing other demons, they would more than likely try and exorcise him or worse have him kicked out of the household. Which is what I’m liking about this anime, it’s setting the stakes and consequences that may happen if things go south for Akira in particular. One scene that still bothers me, while it is a dark scene and it is pretty much meant to showcase how seedy the photographer is when Miko takes over the photoshoot for Miki and yes she does in fact masturbate over Akira when the shoot is over. But why were there donkey noises playing over that scene? We don’t ever get an explanation why that’s the case it just comes and then goes. I mean was she making the noises? Was this scene meant to be metaphorical that she’s a jackass for agreeing to do the shoot even though that photographer is taking advantage of her? Or did it not happen that last bit with her braying just meant to be in her head? God only knows with that sequence. It was definitely out there I’ll give you that. Anyways so far so good, two decent episodes for me here. No complaints so far. |
| Ryo is definitely manipulating Akira like an absolute psychopath. I remember his speech at the beginning about him not believing love to be real. I don't understand all the hugging from him, it's always him initiating it with Akira and it's physically overbearing. I think because they're practically brothers, he uses affection as another form of control. Beyond that their emotional connection is probably codependent, especially since neither of their parents are in the picture. I don't understand all the soft core adult content, especially since it's of teenage girls! The body parts are so rudely in your face and unnecessary. It makes me really uncomfortable. As a woman it makes me feel like I'm not welcome to watch this anime. I think the gratuitous sex and violence play a theme, probably because they're 'sinful' but I don't know what it's in contrast to yet. |

| As if the show wasn’t generic already, we got the generic “mc gets transformation and makes any girl that’s in a 30 mile radius of him squirt” troupe. Forgot to mention this as well, but soundtrack is also another plus for this show. Just give me more action sakuga and good OSTs, and this’ll be somewhat entertaining. |
