I know it's not really new content but seeing this anime return on TV is a blessing. We still got the usual cast and a lot of comedy in this.

I had fun watching the cast spend time together including making some food outdoors. Just enjoying life like they should! It's wonderful to see everyone doing so well in this anime again.

Ah yes, so if i'm understanding this correctly, and reading this right. The first four episodes of the fourth season are just a recaps, right ? Kinda bummer you know, considering this season is 12 episodes in total, and already 4 are just ... well, a filler.

Like the way they recap the episode, still feels very new, its like more in story recap rather than just "here this happened" kind of deal. But we still have 3 more episodes like this after, so yeah, not the biggest fan.

This episode is basically a recap, but it's good to watch those girls again.
Of course! it started with the Mt. Tenran. Mt. Tenran is kind of a symbol for this series already.
The second hike from this episode was Mt. Takao. I've been to this mountain before and also bought that flying squirrel plushie keychain as well. What a nostalgic feeling for me. Mt. Takao Cable Car is also the cable car with the steepest slope in Japan.

This series is new to me, I just checked it out because it released on Hidive today and I expected it to be a bit like Laid-back Camp. So it looks like I have some research to do to get caught up with many others. After reading through the comments I surmise the first four eps are sort of a recap - so, coming in fresh from the outside and having watched it without knowing this, there were only a couple of moments that seemed over-familiar or rushed. I'll do some research and keep watching.

I am fine with these recap episodes because I have watched this series so long ago I didn't even remember their names before the first episode. I actually planned a rewatching before this season but I had never got enough tiime for it, and now these recaps are helping a bit to rememeber why I liked this anime so much.

I'm also new to this series, so I appreciate the summary or recap episodes. But it was rushed and obviously there was not enough time to show how their relationships developed. I'll hang in there in anticipation of a better story as we progress. It would be great if Crunchyroll would start streaming the old seasons again.

Is this whole season just gonna be a summary of the previous seasons? I recently binged all the prequel seasons so I wouldn't really have a reason to watch this season if it's basically just a giant recap...

Since you're both new I highly recommend checking out the first seasons instead of only relying on these first four episodes. This first episode basically recaped the events of season one, with episode 4 being glossed over in one and episodes 6 and 7 glossed over in another transition. So far the OVA seems to be left out entirely as well. I'm guessing episode 2 will recap the first half of season 2 up until
, episode 3 the second half of season 2 and episode 4 will cover the entirety of season 3. So basically the same number of episodes but thrice the runtime covered in the same time. I expect there to be many things left out or drastically shortened to meet the runtime, so I'd recommend watching the original seasons instead of relying on understanding the story from these recap episodes.

Nope, only the first four episodes. Though there will be new episodes, so it's probably best to check them out instead of just brushing them off because they recap the story.

On a more personal note: I'm really happy to see this series again. I don't really need the recapping episodes because I just rewatched the entire series in the last two weeks, but I can always rewatch Yama no Susume, so why not. Also, it gives a good opportunity to look into what was remade and what was just cut together from old episodes. I haven't done any close checks yet, but so far it seems a lot has just been reused - but other scenes have been at least repolished if they weren't completely remade. But it could also just be my imagination. I'm looking forward to the next episode, gonna be interesting to see how they will recap the rest of the anime and especially what new scenes will be added. This time only the part before the opening was new, everything else had already been there.

Recap, really??? After 4 years a recap. And next 3 episode also recaps. Well I would be happier if they kept it in short form and just continued the story. However I still loving it and the recaps will be forgiven if they announce season 5 for next year. There is plenty of manga left that is still unadapted.

Very happy this show is back! Next Summit feels like it wants to bring new newcomers to the series, and I sincerely hope they enjoy the show.

Part of me is worried about how they will tackle the stories from seasons 2 and 3 in the recap, considering they needed quite a bit of build-up for the emotional moments to hit. Overall there is not much to say besides the OP and ED are great, and I hope the show continues to be great.

It's been so long that I had forgotten how much fun Hinata was being the driving force that pulls out Aoi from her comfort zone. Now that I think of it, I hadn't noticed how similar was Hina from Hokago Teibo Nisshi to Aoi, both from the A-social behaviour and the whole handcrafts hobbie.

It took me a while to notice that this was pretty much a remake of Season 1 with much better storyboarding and overall animation (although it's probably just my imagination since some people have stated that it's a direct compilation of season 1). Guess we can finally recommend a single episode for those who want to start the series, and just skip season 1.

The scene before the opening is new, but after the opening, it's just a compilation of season 1. The pacing is incredibly fast, as it's a compilation of 3-minute episodes, with some scenes and entire episodes cut (episodes 4, 6, and 7 were cut for example). It's okay, I just wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it over season 1 proper, especially since season 1 is just 12 minutes longer than Next Summit episode 1.

Pretty disappointed that the first 4 episodes will be recaps, though I guess I don't mind too much since it's been a while since I watched the original seasons. On a positive note, the new part at the beginning looked great, the music is beautiful as always, I like the OP and ED, and it's cool that the episodes are full-length this time around. Looking forward to the new content.

^ These are my feelings as well.

I've been using these recaps as an opportunity to introduce a few friends into the series, and I was already kinda expecting that the first season would be pretty one-to-one with the first episode given their length. The prologue and OP-ED gave the episode something refreshing, and on lieu with memory lane, I didn't mind at all that the episode only just neatly stitched together scenes from s1. Loved the scene in the OP where the characters are heading out in the POV from someone else significant in their lives. That being said, yeah. Are the recaps going to be able to encapsulate s2 - s3... A bit worrisome.

I've missed this group (especially Kaede); super happy to see a new season. It's a shame about the recaps, but it seemed like a few of the scenes had been reanimated, and there was a little expansion at the start, so that's nice. It feels like it's gonna be pretty break-neck trying to go through all of 2 seasons in the next couple eps; I hope it doesn't put new viewers off too much.

As someone that wants to get into the series, but don't really have the time right now to catch up on the previous seasons, the 4 episodes of recap is really appreciated. Well, unless I end up really loving this, I might squeeze in my schedule the previous seasons. So far, hell yeah I am liking this. Any show like this, like Yuru Camp, like Slow Loop, like Super Cub will always be hits.

These recaps are definitely jumping around a lot, but it's good enough to get me up to speed for now, really looking forward to the next episodes.

Glad for the recap with new scenes and improved animation. I saw all of Season 1 and most of 2, so the reminder is appreciated.

I'm still going to go back and watch 2 and 3 in their entirety before this season takes off, but I'm glad its made it this far.

Wow, there are going to be 3 more of these? I guess they're trying to create one cohesive season of the entire series since the show isn't all that popular, so most newer viewers would be lost if they jumped right into the 4th season. This format kind of reminds me of FMAB with all the rushing through the content already covered in previous version (in this case previous seasons).

After watching everything yesterday at your suggestion I'm glad that I did. The recap left out a key element, the MC's reasons/motivation for withdrawing from mountaineering and being outgoing (as she was in elementary school). Specifically, she had a fall from a jungle gym which resulted in an extended hospitalization and consequent fear of heights. This was only briefly glossed-over in the recap. Maybe they'll go into it in the following recaps as she starts to break down her trauma and open up.

I've just finished season 2 and am starting season 3 so I'll probably just skip these first few episodes. I don't really mind if they exist as an alternative entry point though. Even if you remove them 8 24-minute episodes is still a longer overall runtime of new content then the 13 13-minute episodes of season 3.
