This year's 26th issue of Weekly Shounen Jump magazine announced on Monday that a television anime adaptation of Shuuhei Miyazaki's Boku to Roboko (Me & Roboco) is in production.

Miyazaki began serializing the comedy sci-fi manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in July 2020. Shueisha shipped the seventh volume on March 9 and will publish the eighth volume on June 3.

VIZ Media's Shounen Jump platform and Shueisha's Manga Plus both simupublish the manga in English with the Japanese release. VIZ Media released the third volume on April 26, while the fourth volume is scheduled to ship on July 26.

Synopsis
Robotic OrderMaids are popping up in every household, and 10-year-old Bondo Taira has found out that his two closest friends—Motsuo and Gachi Gorilla—have OrderMaids too. Motsuo, in particular, owns Meico, a beautiful robot that gives excellent massages and serves drinks with a smile. Jealous of his friend, Bondo convinces his mother to get him an OrderMaid, hoping for a similar experience.

However, to Bondo's surprise, the maid that appears outside of his door is incredibly muscular and clumsy enough to destroy a house when completing simple chores. Going by the name Roboko, this new robot is the exact opposite of what Bondo wanted. But despite that, Bondo, together with his friends, learns that there is more to Roboko than they could ever expect. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Great series and severely underrated in the West. Can't wait to watch the show and see those beautiful knees in action.

The gag series that inexplicably survived the Weekly Shonen Jump axing while big ones like Ayashimon and Jigokuraku get cancelled after surviving for so long.

Everyone hates this, but only some love it.

Hell's Paradise isn't even in WSJ's magazine nor was it axed, get your facts straight....

Pretty much what Nidhoeggr said + gag manga in WSJ usually have an easier time than shounen battle manga to stay in the magazine.

Also, Roboco is doing way better than Ayashimon in the ToC in Japan so, maybe Ayashimon is the more popular here in the west, but they really enjoy Roboco more while Ayashimon kept staying at the bottom of the ToC every week lol.

I'll just reiterate what I said in another thread already:

1. Gag series are usually read in the magazine itself and have rather low sales.
2. Roboco has great ToC placing in the magazine, indicating a big popularity in Japan.
3. The series was recommended quite heavily in a few TV shows and the author is well-connected within the industry by the looks of it (He could get Yabuki to contribute in a chapter of his, for example).
4. It's not only a spoof of WSJ, but takes a lot of inspiration from Doraemon and has a lot of great gags that aren't Shueisha related, thus giving it mass appeal.
5. Just take a look at her beautiful knee and tell me Roboco isn't best girl in Jump right now.
6. Keep in mind that it is an anime with a most likely shorter episode length, so a good filler series in between other TV blocks.

I mean it really boils down to this, doesn't it.

But that being said, how are they gonna work around the issue of it referencing and outright riffing on other IPs, many of those still ongoing at the time, multiple times per chapter? Some of those (Magu-chan, Ayakashi Triangle) would be out of the magazine by the time the anime gets around to adapting these gags.

I'm happy about the news but it really doesn't sound like a manga that would lend itself well to adaptation.

So? Ayakashi Triangle is not in WSJ anymore, it was moved out to Jump Plus last month.

Pretty sure there have been other references that were relevant at the time but will be completely outdated by the anime's release.

And Yabuki's massive in Japan, so it's inevitable that Ayakashi's gonna get an adaptation.

tbh I don’t think Mashle needs it right now. It has already made top 10 WSJ without any animation promotion. They know it will bang, so it’s best to wait for when JJK has its end in sight before making an anime. That way, when the anime exploads, it can take over as the next king (i.e. JJK succeeding Demon Slayer)

Mashle becoming next king? Are you seriously kidding me? That story is a messed up piece of writing that started out pretty well but ended up going nowhere.

It’s popularity is undeniable though. Maybe it won’t reach JJK heights, but all it needs is a great adaptation to be the next big face of the magazine.
