Nice to meet you. I'm Japanese, but I registered to study English. I can't speak English very well, so it may be late to reply, but I'd be happy if you could get along with me! As the number of my friends is increasing, I may decline your friend request if there is no particular reason for it. In that case, I'm sorry.
There was a time when I was a little bit of a cosplayer. A long, long time ago, though.
Anime movies I've seen in theaters recently
Mononoke Movie: Dai Ni Shou - Hinezumi Versailles no Bara (Movie) Kidou Senshi Gundam: GQuuuuuuX
Then again, I love the Slayers series, so I'd love to talk to someone or something!

In the deleted comment I was just saying reasons why region locking media is keeping many shows out of reach. And how blocking legal access isn't the best solution against piracy. When anime movies premiere in my region they're extremely limited, one showtime staying in theaters for less than a week. It takes a long time for the DVD to release if it does, same goes for legal streaming services. I just wish there was better legal accessibility to these things. Sometimes legal access doesn't exist, especially for abandoned media. Sorry if I wrote too much.
I had Senzanki, do you know this fired chicken dish? I couldn't tell the difference between normal fired chicken and Senzanki.
Then again Japanese food outside Japan tastes different than the actual taste
Those printers look well polished. Have you head of people referring to posters as "eye-candy"? I like that expression, because they really are like candy on the wall for the eyes to look at. XD
I appreciate you enlightening me about the flag. I didn't know about that Demon Slayer controversy, that reminds me of the censorship in One piece. Of course, that instance of censorship is intended to appropriate it for kids.
Has manga ever inspired you to create something? If you were a good artist/mangaka/painter/director, what message would you want to convey with your work?
Really? It’s very common in the west to introduce yourself with your enthnicity.
The posters are in printer-paper size. 8.5 x 11. I used double sided mounting tape. It looks like hardened gel. My mom allowed me to hang it all up but she says it’s going to be a nightmare to rip it off without tearing the paint off the wall with it. I think some olive oil and hot water will do the trick.
Oh gosh… yes I was very uncertain when putting up the flag. I tried using google translate picture tool to see which way it reads correctly and it wouldn’t help. Finally I tried sending Chat GPT a picture which also gave me a vague answer so I just hung it up.
Second of all, it surprises me to find out it translates to suicide attack, referring to kamikaze right? Of course I had no intention to glorify the kamikaze, I think it’s really sad to hear that they were usually forced to do what they did. Are you trying to say it’s a bad gesture that I have the flag wrong? Oops.
Before I reply to the entirety of your message I'd like to share just a tiny bit of background about my ethnicity. I like to label myself as Russian-American, because my whole ancestry is Russian, but I was born in America and lived here my whole life. Russian was my first language and I quickly became fluent in English, but this of course crippled my ability to speak Russian and I don't speak very well on my mother language even today. Having been born in America, I adopted their thinking and values which is why I like to label myself as a Russian-American.
You're very experienced in manga, and I understand the age privacy reasons. Just for clarification, when you mentioned you started using playback speed controls a few years back, did you mean you watch the anime in 1.5x or 2x speed or are you pressing a button to rewind a scene?
Thanks for the insight regarding when kids learn the alphabets, but elementary school kids writing basic kanji? There is no excuse for me XD. You're right to say Berserk doesn't feel like a "Japanese" story, considering it's set in medieval Europe, and I did enjoy reading Berserk in English, but I'd like to read it how the dialogue was originally captured. A lot of Japanese words don't translate well into English, and much nuance (double meaning) is lost.
I watched every adaptation to Berserk that is available. The older adaptation is gold and the soundtracks are amazing, but memorial edition is my favorite by far. It's the most polished one out of the bunch.
Yes! I ordered the artbook a week ago and it just arrived yesterday! I flipped through every page and loved it.
While I'm at it, I might as well show you the contents of the trilogy movie artbook, my entire manga collection, as well as the manga posters covering my room
I think the Rising Sun flag is cool so that's why I have it up. Also note that I haven't read all of the manga on my wall, only 21 completed are up there. The rest manga I haven't read is up there because I recognize their value or I find their cover to be awesome.
The older I get the lighter theme I prefer.
I too on the same page and agree with your mother that the anime is missing many comedy characters who were important in the live-action but they are replaced by mob background characters who have no speech or just one line.
Anime is 22 mins but live-action is 45 mins per episode so of course many things are cut.
But I can't give up on mystery anime, I wish they would do more mystery anime.
Indeed movies might be released earlier but for digital release it's the same later dates.
Lazarus gave me the same feeling like super thieves or un-go, the Japanese version isn't available, so I watched the English dub.
I think i'll continue with the English language version because none of the characters are Japanese.
Although, I thought you would be more interested in the anime your forma than Lazarus.
Hi, I'm trying to start a club for critical and knowledgable anime fans. I came across your account in the "World Masterpiece Theater" club and you seem to fit the bill. The two purposes of the club are to foster community via the club Discord server, and to create a robust poll of the "greatest anime of all time", voted on by members in a thread on the front page of the club. Each member would post their personal top ten list in the thread, titled "Post Your Top Ten", and then eventually I will compile all the lists into a final aggregate. Here's the link to the club if you're interested: https://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=92948
20 years.. Holy crap… Why do you prefer manga over other mediums? I like it over anime because it’s self-paced, I can sit and admire a very powerful panel for as long as I want. It’s much too tedious to follow an anime very closely.
Kentaro Miura inspired me to draw, I loved the Berserk trilogy. I bought an artbook showcasing all the rough sketches from it. Also, I ordered a used complete set of the Berserk manga, vol 1-42. It’s in Japanese and I bought it to commit to learning Japanese. If I knew it, I’d be able to read Miura’s story just how it was meant to be read, I’m sure a lot of the word meaning is lost in translation.
I’ve been learning for a week and I started with the hiragana alphabet before anything else, I can recall, write, and pronounce the first 5 rows of it. Im curious, how long did it take for them to teach hiragana to you in elementary school?
This year I'm so undecided about asking for what happens in the movie.
I wish they show lupin so you can watch it and tell me.
With movies there is no telling when they are gonna be released, different countries different timings.
Since you saw my comment, yes it differ from the goblin box.
But I love it may be its not for the fans who are into thrillers.
In a way it's more like Houkago wa Mystery Totomo ni (2012) -live-action with haruna kawaguchi.
Man that's nostalgic to talk about, I feel Old.
Despite our big difference in age, I think manga will give us a lot to talk about.
How many years have you read manga? I started reading since I created my MAL account (last year.)
Manga has inspired me to write something, I like that the stories go past their entertainment purpose and voice the author's comment or opinion on something. Whether it's a comment on society or just an exploration of the human condition for example. Kiseijuu had a nice message on the preservation of nature and our Earth, Goodnight Punpun worked really well in terms of diving into human dread and tragedy.

Oh, curious, I hadn't heard of it, what's it about?
Yes, you're right about that, the format is the best.
How great.
Yes, I imagine, you're right about that.
Oh, really, and when is the concert? And who is the artist?
