This was one of the better episodes, which I do welcome. =)

I can understand why Saki really hated herself for following the crowd and joining in with the bullying that Mirai went through when they were younger, as she was really good friends with him at that time. Although the lengths that Mirai went to test Saki's resolve to actually want to kill herself made her finally find her resolve to keep on living. At least she's smiling now and she looks cute doing that, too. Even Revel looks nicer acting all upbeat as well.

Sadly, the ending with Mukaido and his family was depressing. The fact that he made a wedding dress for his daughter is a good enough sign that he won't be around to see his daughter get married. It was sad to see him break down while his wife also cried beforehand, too. =(

The small post-credit scene took me by complete surprise with an appearance of another god candidate and his 'smile'. I won't lie, that made me crack up! XD

The scene with mukkaido at the end with his daughter was sad. Also wasn't expecting that was the reason she wanted to kill herself either.

Great episode! A bit depressing after Saki requests to be killed. I am happy that Saki was a lot happier in the end and changed her outlook on life. She suggests they get a new base of operations and even wants wings of her own as well. Saki also wants her own wings and Revel asks Baret to see if he could be promoted to a first rank angel and it seems that he needs to work hard for it as an angel xD. He's happy about the thought of being special rank lol.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Wow, another incredibly bad episode - how surprising!
Saki's backstory is a solid top contender for the world's most ridiculous reason to go suicidal. It still amazes me how this show manages to get a little worse each time. That in itself is an accomplishment.

I completely agree with you. At the end of episode eight, I dropped one point from the previous score, but I think it is still not enough and it deserves less.

Well, one of the most logical reasons is that this anime is not as good as you say, Actually it has been very bad so far. This may be my personal opinion, but from its point of view, as well as other opinions, one can well understand the depth of dissatisfactions.

I made a couple of faces in this episode, of worrying, of sadness, of joy and neutral. And then comes that last frame with the guy smiling like that and I burst out laughing while the others are sleeping already :) God damn that was unexpected. "The Face of An Assassin" my ass :)

Living together with your crush, finally get to share the same bed.

Mirai's own suicide attempt prompted Saki to feel guilty and both got recognised by their angels as god candidates.

Since she didn't have wings, it wasn't her rising up to reach Mirai's hand, but Mirai likely sensed her reaching motion as she began falling. It took two near-death experiences to convince her to keep on living, it seems.

A church as a headquarters for our Angels and superheroes, very apt.

The most compelling part of this episode is undoubtably Mukaido's story. His wife's mood swings from suspicion when to one of sorrow. His daughter asks about the wedding dress; his illness means he won't get to see her wear it.

Damn, this episode was emotional. Saki's reason to die was pretty intense but, at least she seems to be in a good state now. Revel willing to rank up to "special-class" for Saki was pretty sweet. The Mukaido scene at the end was pretty depressing. We all know his future in this show.

I agree. While I can understand that they are trying to convey how depressed Mirai is, as the mc he just hasn't worked at all.

Saki's character development was also too sudden for me to take seriously, the grabbing scene was a hack, and the angels are just not interesting nor funny. I'm really starting to fall off this series and we're not even half-way through.

It's so weird seeing Adult Man like Mukaido did Kabedon, usually we only see it with Highschool Student in Anime.

I like how everyone just talked about Mukaido and his daughter scene more than Saki story lol
For a second i thought the daughter saw the costume that Mukaido says to Mirai, but no it really is a Wedding Dress.
This is so sad.

Saki's mentality is intriguing, but after knowing her backstory, I kinda can understand why.

Uryu has a target: his own friend in school who can put two and two together. For Mukaido, he's a reasonable husband trying to be cool to his wife (and doing the Kabedon just seems so unnecessary lols).

But for Saki, getting Mirai to sleep with her on the same bed...the mindstruck is eerie. I mean like, you could just go out for a private walk, but choosing it this way to express her character development was kinda rancid and feels like it's not to be taken seriously. It's all over the place, but if there's one thing I can relate to Saki, is that the feeling of death and bullying is real.

How quaint for 2 like-minded people to think on quite extreme terms of life, and Saki definitely wasn't ready for that suicidal feeling when Mirai took her to the skies. Either you live or you die, high-maintenance bitch.

A big church and cosplay costumes for the trio and their angels, and Saki is already asking for Wings like Mirai's. Obviously, Metropoliman has both Wings and Arrows so he's a perfect target, and Mikaido is a perfact sacrifice if both Saki and Mirai couldn't take him down.

The wedding dress is kinda fitting for Mukaido who's about to reach his end too, might be the last day that he'd see his wife and daughter.

And to those who don't understand Saki's reason, I suggest to read "Koe no Katachi" or watch the anime movie. Not exactly the same but it does show how guilt can drive you into depression and suicidal thoughts.

I don't understand that movie's characters, but I understand Saki. Orange is an even better anime.

BUT, those final 2-3 minutes with Mukaido's daughter.... DAMN a real Banger to the heart.

Great Father, Mukaido.

Interesting character development this episode. As others have pointed out, I think Saki believing she contributed to Mirai's suicide attempt could believably make her feel guilty and suicidal. Especially given that she’s young enough to have just finished middle school. Mirai's conviction against bullying is admirable. More people should think like him.

The last scene got me hyped for the new season of Jojo!

Saki's backstory has finally been revealed. It wasn't as deep as I thought it would be. What she did in past wasn't really her fault. That's a typical thing that most children of that age do to blend in with others, to be honest even I did it and I'm really disgusted of my past self cuz of that. But it can be a different case when you see the person you bullied is committing suicide in front of you especially when you already regret whatever you did. So Saki being a soft and weak hearted person, it's understandable why she wanted to die too.

Good thing this Saki will get useful in someway now.

I wish someone out there in the world is counting how many times they're mentioning the word “Shiawase” in this anime.
At this point I hate the word happiness...

“I'll just act like nothing's changed”
Glad this side character has got some senses. Actually I wish this guy played a serious role.

What's up with the new God Candidate? A Jojo character just popped up out of nowhere. His design doesn't go with this anime at all 🤣

He is a cancer patient and even tho I don't know what type of cancer he has the treatment is not exactly easy so it is something like >side effects of therapy >cancer progressing >hiding his true face/feelings from his daughter/family. but I would say it is a combination of all three possibilities

Like he is flying so he could just lower himself so that she could reach him right? On that note, I would like to say that I am not trying to say that this is a good adaptation... But since you seem to read the source material I gotta ask how was the characterization of the MCs done there? since in anime they are just so one-dimensional that it actually hurts to see them do anything.

He didn't lower himself, you can see this through the angels' dialogue.
Saki was still one-dimensional for most of the story, but didn't feel as much, at least it had really good art to make up for it.

Pretty good episode, main character was more than a moping, stalker-vibe, emo kid with typical hero character ideals. Actually did something, and had a pretty neat fight scene. I gotta say, I am sick of the flashbacks and scenes with kids, it is like the creator never talked to a child in their entire life and expect them to be small, intelligent, philosophers from age 5.

Saki's reason for being suicidal is very weak, and it's even more far fetched that she asks someone else to kill her: dear Saki, if you want to die because you treated the MC like shit, how do you think you'll make him feel after killing you? This aside, I'm invested in the plot and the characters, I don't get the hate.

to be honest, this episode wasn't pretty bad, but it still have problems.
the anime adaption just doesn't deal right with the death theme of the manga, saki's story felt weak compare to the manga. recommending for those who wants little more depth in her story read the manga.
it's for sure because the pace, but for that they could add 1-2 more episodes, why they set the animt to 24 episodes if it's ruining the manga? lol
it's making saki's development really weak too...

gotta say though, they handled the mukaido scene very well.

the post-credit scene though reminded me what's gonna happen,

She finally has some character development even if it is rather shallow. But geez. SO many death flags! Now I've started to fear for the father's family. This show likes to be quazi edgy so I'm not expecting them to actualy get hurt but just imagining them get hurt and how much it'd hurt the father... sucks.
