Good old fashioned World Trigger duels this episode. Yuuma, Osamu, Hyuse, all in action!

I'm slightly underwhelmed by the match this episode though, felt like it wasn't as memorable as the previous season's, yet. On the other hand, feels like this episode/season has a lot of tactical strategies.

World Trigger Season 3 episode 5 has been delayed on Crunchyroll for a little bit due to production issues. Here is the blurb "Due to production issues, episode 5's launch will be delayed till later in the day. We thank you for your patience and understanding."

Edit: Ok, it's out now.

Seriously, if Chika was able to shoot people, they could have won on this map easily. Just pack out of the mall when they knew most people were inside, and then have chika nuke it a couple of times. Well, once she manages to get over her fears of doing shooting people, she will be unstoppable. That much destructive power should be illegal, haha. With one shot she managed to blow up half the mall and accidentally "killed" one player and injured another. The animation put into Chika's blast was also stellar. Probably the best of the season so far.

Most likely the battle will end next episode, and Tamakoma now has a humongous advantage. They just need 3 more points to acheive their objective, so that means they need to kill one more player and get the bonus two survival points. Shouldn't be too hard, though Azuma is a formidable opponent. And he is a great player, more focused on helping his lesser teammates gain experience and become better players than actually winning.

A lot of great strategy in this episode, and it was all a thrill to watch. Kuga and Hyuse had great teamwork and really showed off how good they are working together and how strong they are also individually. Kou almost managed to take them both out with a cool maneuver, but they were able to scrape by and take him out. Props to him though for almost beating them both while outnumbered.

Mikumo is out, but at least he nearly got a kill himself and provided the opportunity for his teammates to take down Kou. Mikumo has really improved since the last battle. Hopefully he just keeps growing.

All in all, a fantastic, bombastic episode. Hopefully the next episode can be keep it up.

I gotta say this was one hell of an intense episode. That meteor explosion though. Not gonna lie. I had a feeling if Chika did an accident killing intentional or not it was going to some pressure on her mentality. I mean we seen how she does her moves. She can't shoot people. Though now that she did the other groups are going to get spooked. At least she got a point, but I highly doubt it is a good thing since her mental state might be in disarray.

(Mikumo didn't get the kill, Ema (snipper) got the kill).
Mikumo's team got two kill "stolen" from them but at least they got a "lucky" kill from Chika who just destroyed half the mall (and it seems she has plenty of trion left... she's a monster).

Ah, right. My bad. Nice catch. He nearly got the kill, and then Ema sniped him (how could he?! Chika won't be happy with him, that's for sure :'D). Tamakoma needs to work on their follow throughs, haha.

ending gave me chills

i want to see kuga and hyuse fight neighbors and go all out with black triggers as the matches they seem to be held back by the limitations of teammates and the triggers they use.

Was incredible how Chika ended those basic fights and restored the dynamic, with just one literal meteor.

It was worth waiting 85 episodes and seven years (not that much really, more like 3 years) just to see Chikaboom and her cubic Genki-Dama.

Really... if Chika were a shooter and had more trion control (Which I suppose improves with practice) she could just blow the entire map up and go to A-rank by herself lol. Like Ninomiya on steroids. Give her a few years and she'll become the only S-rank without a black trigger lol. Or give her a black trigger and she'll become the D E M O N L O R D .

I mean if she had the Lamvanein trigger she'd already be a complete monster of destruction, because it's completely suited for her. Sniping capabilities, shooter capabilities and flight lol.

I mean, most people (I remember Kitazoe, Hiura, Konami, Kuma, Izumi, in particular Izumi has a lot of trion and even that doesn't come close to Chika) would have plenty of trion left after using Meteora a few times so... yes. Chika is kind of a bottomless well of trion.

Best episode of this season so far. We got to see plenty of good action and smart stratiegies, which is where World Trigger really thrives. Chika’s meteor was insane too. All of the animation this episode was great tbh.

Easily 9999 points out of 10.
I really think this episode is the peak of World Trigger as an sci-fi strategy anime. Even better than S2. I think there are some really good scene in the S1, but sadly the animation were average.

I watched it 3 times already, but damn i am speechless. A combo between Kuga and Hyuse are just strong as top A-ranked attacker i guess. I mean they are as being said in the episodes.

That Chika moments are really hype, the soundtrack, the timing, i love it. But as for now, Tamakoma-2 can't let their guard down. Azuma-san, a he is the FIRST sniper in the border after all.

The animation continues to be on point. That explosion and the smoke clouds were beautiful. All anime need to take the 12 episode approach if we can get this level of art in most episodes.

Kuga continues to be the MVP whose support pulls the victory. To think up that distraction on the fly and be so in sync that Hyuse could follow up with the hissastsu is just more reasons to celebrate him as a character. The back escudo hit different in the manga chapter, but the rest of the episode more than makes up for that.

I still prefer the strategy of last season to this season, but y'all better get prepared for the fireworks of next episode. It's gonna be straight heat.

Both of them are roughly in the top 5 attackers on their own, but I doubt they could pull off teamwork like the top guys did against Neighbors last season. Both Kuga and Hyuse barely had time to get used to Border triggers (the entire anime up to now spans a few weeks at most), and from the way they fought before, they're probably not as used to working in teams. As of now I'd say they'd be able to match mid-A-rankers in terms of overall combat ability.

Ahhh, I'm so glad they didn't make the Chika Meteor a cliffhanger like I feared they might do! It was so satisfying to see it happen haha! This was one of the moments I wanted to see animated the most from this battle!! Also that Hyuse escudo on Murakami as well. Just like Kuga they both are so innovative with their triggers! This is just so satisfying to watch and finally seeing these glorious moments animated. ;w;

I agree. The highlight of the last season was Osamu growth and using his strategy to win matches, also Chika being able to shot people with lead bullet.

But, in this season, in five episodes, Osamu did not accomplish much, Chika had one cool moment and Hyuse did not accomplish much either. (Yuuma is basically the same with no emotion at all during all his fight). I understand they could not get a total victory but it just felt kinda overwhelming. Strategy like using the light seemed good in concept but did not accomplish much...

(also I always hate when they are shooting at each other and shields which don't even cover 50% of their body magically block everything... which happens a lot of time during this season...)

Well, I always preferred match where the underdogs manage to win (when it's really deserved), which was accomplished in season 2. In season 3, it's like they don't want Tamakoma-2 to be overpowered so... But, really, between the steal kill, Osamu getting shot by Ema and having to leave without accomplish anything...

I understand it's more realistic that way, but, it's missing something... Especially when Chika could have just shot twice and kill everyone "accidentally"... making all strategy useless.

One of the weakness of World Trigger matches as always been the fact there is no "pain", so, it's juste like "ok, I'm dead, see ya" (and because of the realistic way they react, you don't have a lot of "emotion"... especially Yuuga which has basically the same look no matter what happen). While it's great because it allows teams to fight without holding back, you really need big strategy to make up for it.

Well, let's see how the 6th episode goes !

There's a lot going on here. Osamu is in the process of learning to trust himself and be more confident in his own judgement, although I'll admit what we've got so far is a little weak. Chika accidentally shooting someone was good for her character and in future it may set up an incredible character moment, but as it stands I think they handled it a little too jokingly. They needed to take the gravity of Chika actually destroying someone for the first time more seriously. As for Hyuse, every action he takes reveals more about his character. I'm finding a lot of his decisions pretty interesting, but my biggest problem would probably be that he just doesn't have enough depth (which is a problem with all the WT characters). On a surface level this fight functions as a proper introduction for Hyuse and so we'll probably get more character progression from him in future. Yuuma is probably my biggest issue with WT for a while now. Since his full introduction and the establishment of the team he's been nothing but...there...I guess. WT just needs more character moments where we actually get to know our main cast rather than just having them be vehicles for plot and fights.

I feel like it's a budgetary thing. That and the constant narration the show has of the fights. A lot of it is redundant for the audience and mostly used to pad out the runtime and cut costs. Like when Kou threw his Kogetsu into his other hand and was executing an epic blow, but after he cut Yuuma we randomly cut to the commentators and they were like "that was a cool trick, he is faster than both opponents so what are they going to do" and my brain got so confused. How can they comment in the middle of an event that lasted like 1 IRL second lmao?

I feel like the fights have always been about strategy, but the narrative underdog aspect has faded as Tamakoma has become more experienced. To me it feels earned, but I can understand if it's less satisfying for you. There's really no narrative replacement for it. They were always trying to get in the away squad so there needed to be something extra to motivate our protagonists here.

Rukodaime91 said:

Well the thing is, no one realised she could do it. But to think that Chika would make the shot not realising that someone could get killed from her seems a little unrealistic to me. Surely she would have realised this. If there was a brief debate between her and Osamu where he convinces her she won't get anyone, and then she does, that would have been a lot more believable and have added more narrative weight to her actions, as they would feel more like a consequence rather than an inconvenience.

I'm personally fine with this tbh. It allows the characters to fight harder and us to see way more epic kills than could have ever been possible in this story otherwise.

overall I just wish someone could come in and rewrite the characters. IMO that would solve pretty much all of the show's major downsides now.

It's infuriating how much Mikumo sucks, like negative value to the team
- he doesn't get a kill on the gunner who was defenseless, and didn't see him so they lost a point
- then he gave a point to the sniper

Even when out of battle his uselessness affects his team

The way they write Mikumo is awful, this anime would have +1 if they just accelerated Mikumo's growth instead of handicapping Tamakoma-2. Understood Chika needs to have post traumatic stress otherwise they'd be too OP and this might as well become redo of healer, but holy the MC is not entertaining to watch at all. If Tamakoma-2 were side characters and Mikumo was a rival of the MC, then this type of character writing would make more sense. As it stands, they haven't discussed how to increase trion, and Mikumo is still struggling to make decisions. The world is interesting, the other characters are interesting, it's a damn shame that this one little thing pulls the whole enjoyment down. The first 70 episodes was okay, but now they're just recycling the same pitiable weakness that he's had since the beginning. There is nothing redeeming about him at all, and the few moments he attempts to +ultra are overhyped. Literally the rival teams make greater strides with less effort and less of a handicap (i.e. having 2 A-tier members). Nerf him more please.

I Absolutely love the new addition of Amatori Mini-Nuke. I was annoyed that people are being dumb and acting like she can shoot people now, like she hasn't done something like that with Ibis multiple times. She was clearly aiming for opening the map, but I was laughing when saw her face when realized she killed eliminated someone hahaha. Hopefully her accidentally getting someone will help with her mental issue, rather than make it worse by not wanting to mini-nuke anymore.

These fights are so fight, we only have 2 teams now in a 3v2 but everything that happened is awesome and Asuma is a top-tier opponent who simply seems to be more of a side-role so his newer-mates can flourish. This isn't just a competition, but an excellent method of improving for real battle. The power of love wasn't enough, but did secure 2 points putting them in 2nd place, for now. Hyuse is confident and saving Viper for the next and likely harder match, using now will both show his ability to use, and show his pattern skills.
