Very happy to see Arisa and Saki back and they still look great this season.

Too bad that Kyo still has to deal with more drama in his life. Can't he ever catch a damn break? Seriously though, he's been through a lot, both past and the present. I like how the episode had another Kyo and Tohru moment, where they felt connected. Yup, chase after her lol

Not complaining tho.

They mixed in a lot of different chapters into one I feel like it was a bit weirdly done.
That Yuki and Kyo fight was done amazing props to Nobunaga Shimazaki for voicing Yuki's voice so well in that scene.
I'm glad they kept the Kyo confronting his father about his mother he finally knows the truth of what drove her to do that. Haru just ordering pizza was hilarious. Akito taking the next step of wanting to change so proud of her.
Yuki in the dark and when Machi calls him there's lightness in front of him I think that was a nice shot he looked so excited running out wanting to meet her. And finally, Kyo getting to see Tohru again saying how much he loves her was so sweet but still Tohru runs off lol gotta run after her, Kyo.

Subs are already out @ 6pm PT time.

How this episode paced things around the manga was super awkward though with added anime-original scenes.

The Student Council banter with Yuki aside, Kyo running away from home is not a surprise. The confrontation of Akito betwen Arisa and Saki for Kureno's case...a consolation this is one that doesn't feel like it. Haru's depiction of Rin, as is his monotone crassness is chuckles. Shigure doesn't care about what happens to both Yuki and Kyo while their rivalry continues like mad.

The one constant from the manga: Kyo going back to his family's place to face his dad, and that family is still a wreck if Kyo confronts them any further, especially to his dad who is still very one-sided and warped against both him and their deceased mom. But still though, props for Kyo finally facing his problems without turning on his tail.

Both Yuki and Kyo are starting to run after their significant others, and that's for the better...though Tohru sprinting out of the hospital when she saw Kyo was funny.

Goddamn the tennis, having nightmares about staying up past midnight when I've got work to do tomorrow xD! Giving me the same vibes as Wonder Egg Priority with these delays!

Now that it is the next day I can write my thoughts lol. Tohru releasing her inner usain bolt was jokes at the end.

Again I don’t understand why akito is getting a free pass from the cast for what she did, this time from arisa and saki. Because she was a troubled girl that was made to act as a man she’s allowed to abused people? Weird gaps aside gotta commend saki’s dodgy ability at reading situations and understanding pretty much instantly that akito is a woman!

Yuki’s bro talk was real as fuck and it’s hard admitting that you’re not good enough for someone especially someone as close as tohru who was with the trio pretty much the entire year, but that finally snapped kyo out of his delusions that he doesn’t need to be a superhero, her just needs to make the bundle of joys life a bit brighter.

What’s with these Mondays episodes and abusive parents lol? Kyo’s dad is so disillusioned that he doesn’t realise he was the one who caused his wife’s death, not his son that h brought upon the planet unwillingly. Blaming a child’s birth never makes sense to me, as the child didn’t choose to be born, the parents forced that option against the child. Akito telling that maid to basically stuff it was quite nice all things considered.

Yuki x machi next episode, looking forward to that stuff and obviously kyo x tohru, hopefully we see some more kisa action in an all encompassing happy ending.

Side note hatsuhara had me dying, his monotonous voice describing the tsundere run changing colours was brilliant

Totally fine, they really noticed each other this season lol, the other seasons they merely knew each other but I think it was around episode 3 - just checked my videos - and it was where they actually had a lot of development, with yuki when they talked about her past and yuki started helping her. Before that it was yuki trying to be nice to her and her realising that yuki is lonely even though he’s regarded as a prince (season 2 episode 20 I believe). She’s first introduced season 2 episode 1 but we see her before in episode 25 of season 1 according to the wiki. Hope that helps, feel free to pm me next time so we don’t clutter up the post ;)

Amazing episode! While I loved every bit of it, highlights for me included Kakeru saying "his mom" to describe Yuki's relationship with Tohru, Hanajima calmly stating Akito being female, Tohru running away, and of course, the Yuki and Kyo fight. So good!

the honest confrontation between yuki and kyo was a long time coming and it delivered, yuki is just such a good boy, really happy with his ship with machi sailing.
was also great to see the girls again and uo-chan was adorable.
although there was a lot of heavy stuff per usual, i couldn't stop smiling at the end of the episode, seriously i don't deserve fruits basket, it's too good, just 3 more episodes of it left though, may the gods of anime bless us once more with something this great in the future.

Dude this episode was so freaking good for me. The scene with Akito, Uo-chan, and Hana-Chan was freaking nice and adorable. Uo-chan said she will wait was freaking good and nice. The scene with Yuki and Kyo was so freaking phenomenal. I had to watch that scene over and over again because it was just great. Two of them talking all out and Yuki having to punch/kick Kyo and give him a lecture was nice. Telling to get on get. As for the scene with Kyo and his father was also phenomenal. Eventually I think the truth was out about Kyo's mother. The father was a real dang donkey's butt dude. Eventually Kyo told his dad what he will do, and that he will live outside no matter what. Even saying he killed his mother. Then Akito deciding to destroy the cottage was a nice step. Akito seems to grow tremendously which is something to be very proud about. Yuki going after Machi after she made a call to her. Now Kyo going after Tohru by chasing her. Dang man. The end is coming very soon. I can't help, but be so dang happy. Is there something wrong with me? :')

Woooow....Yuki's "pep talk" was epic. His VA did a great job screaming all that too. It tingled my feels. Especially when Yuki finally admitted out loud he admired Kyo...Tohru recognized that 'solution' a long time ago but for that wall to finally fall down between Yuki and Kyo. I cheered "The wall's finally been torn down! They've finally admitted they were each jealous of the other! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MOMEEENT~~~"

I was also holding my breath at what would happen if Akito ran into Kyo on her way to Kyo's dad's house while Kyo was leaving but I guess we'll never know since they just missed each other....

And that ending was so darn cute. Tohru ran away so fast I loled. Go go Kyo! Chase her down! <3

Next week can't come any sooner... T-T

I loved this episode. Yuki and Kyo's last fight made me emotional. They finally confessed their true feelings and the roots of their hatred came to light. Moreover, Kyo can finally break free from the guilt his father imposed on him. This episode made me really emotional but I could laugh in between my tears. That's the beauty of Fruits Basket.

I still think they should have reduced the Kyou scenes more in order to reduce the unnecessary drama but it was fine I guess. Yuuki/Machi phone call right after the fight and Kyou/Tooru hospital visit afterwards is just perfect for the pacing. When I was reading the manga I found myself looking away and scrolling because it was getting stale from time to time.

There's my boy Yuki kicking some sense into Kyou (literally).

Also, I was a little worried Kureno would just give up on everything else and stay with Akito out of some sort of twisted sense of obligation or pity, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case, and I'm glad.

3 eps left...

Holy SHIT a love heavy episode!!! Arisa wanting to wait and go with Kureno, Yuki hearing from Machi and running towards the station to meet her, and of course Kyo and TOHRU!!! God damn what an episode.

I thought the fight between Kyo and Yuki was very good and it developed both of them even further.

Freaking Haru talking about Rin's Boobs though LOL

Dude next week is going to be so good! Can't wait to see what Machi got Yuki. I like Machi a lot.

Some very much needed healing and optimism after the series of heavy episodes, I really love the detail of kyo grabbing his father's arm fairly lightly showing how weak the man who had been tormenting him his whole life really was.

This very well could of been the final episode and it'd of been generally pretty satisfying, but I'm glad its not cause there's some more loose ends and general epilogue stuff i want focused on.

Its astounding that a show can pump out immaculate episodes after immaculate episode but here we are folks. Fruits Basket is just *that* good. Because we got another jam packed episode that hit on every beat. Akito meeting Uotani and Hanajima at the hospital saying how she realizes now that she held Kureno down all these years. While Kureno himself realizes he must leave Akito to let things heal and move forward. Akito in later scene with the old maid saying she can't move forward like the young with Akito saying she can stay put but Akito is moving forward. That's a big theme in this episode really is moving forward. Its not an easy thing but we have to just make one step them another until we get there.

The Kyo and Yuki final fight, the pinnacle of their character relationship. Its been building this whole series and now after we've learned both their back stories of how they both wanted to be the other we get this amazing confrontation. Yuki having to lay it into Kyo so he gets the picture. That it's Kyo and Kyo alone who makes Tohru happy, Yuki can do that. Kyo has to be himself and face who he is, we all have to. Kyo thinking he's done a horrible job of protecting Tohru when its the exact opposite. He's made her the happiest. Its a really powerful scene, probably one of the best in the whole show. Its the perfect cap to their character dynamic and fittingly end with a fight just like they used to do way back at the beginning.

Followed flawlessly by the scene of Kyo confronting his piece of shit father. Telling the old man no, just no, Kyo will not be locked away, he has someone to live for on the outside and that's what he's gonna do. The vile cockroach of a man having the audacity to pin Kyo mothers suicide on him. When in fact it was the dad who degraded her and caused it. Kyo thinking about his mom about how they won't have a second chance since shes dead is so sad. About how they won't get that opportunity to reconcile and wishing they did.

Lots of smaller scenes this episode too like with Arise saying she'll follow Kureno, and Akito saying the cat jail is to be destroyed, Yuki being embarrassed by Kakeru, Machi calling Yuki with him running to see her right after saying we all have to have that something or that someone to strive towards. Leading into the end where Kyo just lets all the bs go and saying it straightforward, nothing else matters, just loves Tohru. Now all he has to do is catch her.

Loved the Yuki and Kyo moment...it needed to happen and it finally did. Nobunaga Shimazaki did a fantastic job voicing Yuki during that scene.

Not sure how I feel about Akito doing a 180 so suddenly. Wish there was more character development from her. I also hope that she apologizes to everyone she's hurt, particularly Rin, Yuki, Kyo, and Kisa.

Ending scene was great. It would be like Tohru to start running for her life the second she gets discharged from the hospital after a head injury haha

so so so good, how was this done so well? i rewatched it three times and i’m bawling.

yuki and kyou’s final confrontation was perfect. i wasn’t sure yuki’s seiyuu would be able to pull it off, just cause of how soft spoken yuki normally is. there’s a pro for you.

this was yuki and kyou’s reconciliation and you don’t realize how significant it really is until it happens and it’s so satisfying. after all, their complicated relationship was one of the biggest plot lines of the series. they FINALLY develop some understanding of each other and all through yuki beating the crap out of kyou and kyou finally admitting his true feelings towards him.

kyou really needed him. yuki’s the only person who could have knocked that sense into him and gotten through to him, and yuki came through. so beautiful.

and i was so happy to see kyou learn the real reason of his mother’s suicide. and now we get next week’s episode with him and tohru and i’m going to lose it srsly i can’t TT_TT <3333

Screw Tennis, I now had to watch it in the morning before work and my emotions are a mess.

Another fantastic episode!

Didn't think Arisa would be able to see Kureno again, but seeing as he was in the same hospital, it was a great opportunity for her to throw out what she wanted to say to him and I am so glad for her that she managed to do so.

Yuki was phenomenal this episode, the VA did a insanely great and emotional speech towards Kyo to kick some sense into him. It did work to get his gears moving.

Kyo's father was hard to watch, he's filled with so much hatred towards Kyo.

Kyo went to the hospital in the end, only to get there to see Tohru get discharged from it. I love how her first reaction was to run away and Kyo saying he can run faster than her. That made me giggle in an already emotional episode.

Next week the Yuki x Machi ship will sail???

This show is so good I love is so much it isn't healthy.

Kyo and Yuuki's moment was really great, I'm glad that Yuuki finally said something to Kyo so he'd go visit Tohru. And Akito man, her growth over the span of 2 episodes is so vast that it's hard not to forgive her and to think that Kyo's mother died because of his dad, I'm glad Kyo finally stood up to his dad. The ending where Tohru ran away and Kyo said he was faster than her, now that's adorable

Good to see, Akito's regretting the decisions she took so far and trying to be better in her life. Tohru's getting discharged soon. So, everything's looking great. Kureno and Arisa had a chat as well. Yuki and Kyo had a fight where Kyo finally understood what he needs to do.

Poor Kyo had to be with such a shitty father. No wonder he's like that. I'm happy that he wants Tohru back because he loves her. Tohru running away was so adorably funny. LOL

I know it is an unpopular opinion but Yuki is just the best character of the show imo, he had the best development through the whole show and actually speaks a lot of sense, him yelling at Kyo the superhero speech was probably the highlight of the season for me, he was so right and Kyo needed to hear just that.
