What an amazing movie, it's a nice break from complicated, action oriented or fast-paced plots, this movie is so light hearted that it's pure joy watching it. Oh and the quality of the art and animation is just amazing, seriously some of the best I've seen, no less from Miyazaki.

As somewhat of a fan of Ghibli, I had expectations. Overall the movie was a nice watch but there were two points in which I got excruciatingly bored. When there were ten minutes left in the movie, I was ready to turn it off and didn't care about what was going to happen. Overall, I guess it was slightly disappointing. I wouldn't watch it again.

I'll still give it a pretty high rating, though, because it went well together as a movie, the ending was precious, and it pulled at my heartstrings.

Calm down dudes, it's a father having a bath with his children, it's not Michael Jackson watching TV and eating Candy in his bed together with someone else's children.

Extremely charming movie.
Totoro is really a weird creature. That cat as well is also pretty weird.
A sweet tale of moving on, living in countryside and enjoying everyday's life with his family. The serious undertone toward the end really made it better.
Animation was quite spectacular for this time, the clouds were really beautiful and quite realistic.

Actually I didn't want this movie to end ;_;

I held off on Totoro for awhile because it seemed too juvenile. Having finished it, I must say that this is one of the best childrens' films I've had to joy of watching... and it's not just for children. I especially love how Totoro, unlike many of Disney's features, picks a gentle pace and tells its story without having to bag a villain.

This was a lot better than I'd expected. It does have that nostalgic factor, the music was endearing at times and the scenery is really gorgeous despite being a little dated. I actually liked it better than Princess Mononoke which was targeted at slightly older audience. However, I can not get myself to give it more than a 7 because it is after all, a movie for children, which kinda bugged me. If only I could travel back in time and give this to my young self; I'm sure it'd be something I would love at that age.

I don't see the appeal. It wasn't very enthralling, and I didn't much like the characters, besides Totoro.

It was worth watching though.

Totoro is still so cute.
Even though he is scary, but I think he is so adorable.
I like how this movie runs.
The scenes with Totoro are so nice especially the Cat-Bus.
Hope I can find like Totoro too. xD

Having lost a parent recently, I was in tears pretty much as soon as the mother was introduced.. having to see the girls consider their mothers death was unbearable.

Was she just pregnant? Because from the credit scenes it looked like there was a new baby with the two girls, and it would make sense for satsuki to remember there being one other time where her mother had had a similar cold (as she mentioned JUST before she started crying)...

Anyway. A very nice movie. I liked the gentle nature of Totoro as well. 9/10.

i really liked this, but watching with parents making synide remarks all the way through kind of put a downer on the whole thing D:

totoro and that cat bus were so kawaii :3

the only thing i didn't like was the VA of Mei, she was quite irriatating -.-" she needed a good slap (i watched the subbed version and haven't seen the dub but i can't imagine it being better)

I've just watched it (finally). And it was well worth 1,5h of my nighttime.

I won't call it overrated, but not a masterpiece either, just a great movie. Not for people who only like explosions, complex stories and fast paced action though, that's for sure.

Also - I find Totoro unneeded for this movie. It didn't ruin it or anything but I enjoyed the parts without him much more. And I wouldn't complain if the whole movie was like that - just a normal family living a normal life. But yeah, the movie's great anyway.

On another note, what's with the sudden weabooness of the ghibli movie titles?
