I think Genkai's death scene may be the goriest part of the series thus far.

Amazing episode, the feeling is transmitted to the viewer, next episode doesn't look that good though

This was a very well done episode. Even just during the events leading up to Genkai's last moment, I became very emotional and couldn't help but weep. ;__; I love Yu Yu Hakusho, because I've become attached to the characters, and I agree that the feelings are strongly transmitted to the viewer.

It's a shame Genkai was killed. They could've done more with her character in my opinion but oh well still a good episode.

God fucking damnit. Genkai was quickly becoming my favourite character.. The last few episodes she had been so badass and she looked beautiful as her younger self.

Hope toguro gets mercilessly killed.. Don't give me any of that realising-he-was-wrong-as-he-dies bs, I want him to die without being allowed to show any remorse.

Ehh, maybe if they didn't spend every episode on shitty drawn out fights and actually spent time developing Yusuke and Genkai's relationship I'd feel more emotional. All we ever got was 5 minute training montages and Genkai yelling at him. They never had any bonding moments whatsoever. Compare this to something like

or

and see how poorly done this was. Pretty much the only reason I'm even watching this series anymore is to see the Team Toguro fights. The characters have potential, but instead of having legit bonding moments and interraction between them, all we get are shitty jokes and drawn out fights. Genkai was by far the best character on the show, and her relationship with Toguro was more developed than basically anything else.

Guess I shouldn't really be that surprised though as this series is pretty dated, and it was one of the first ever battle shonen to adopt this formula, so obviously it wouldn't be as good or polished as more recent series

I won't change your opinion on the show, but how does age solely determine how good something is? More things should be taken into account. I can't say for One Piece, but for Naruto, aside from Jiraiya, Naruto is very unrealistic with pairings. Why does Sakura love Sasuke so much when he hates her, and even tried to kill her? How did Naruto end up with Hinata, when he didn't care at all prior? Why did Obito cause a war for a petty crush? That, and Naruto s notorious for dragging things way out.

Oh believe me, Naruto isn't perfect by any means, and the end pairings sucked harder than anything I've seen. About the fights being dragged out, that's true but they were atleast interesting. There were barely any cutaways to people talking, and when there were, it was explanation on a strategy or technique a character used, and the fights themselves just had more sustained action and infinitely better animation. In YYH, literally every fight has like 30 seconds of fighting, then it'll cut away to Botan or Keiko saying how worried they are for like 2 minutes, and then they'll get back to the fight. It's insanely irritating and boring to watch since everything is needlessly dragged out. This is just my opinion though. I have no problems if people enjoy this show, I've just had a bad experience on my first watch of it

No, the last match of with the first team, when there's only hand to hand combat, punching, and a dagger behind each fighter's heel.
But this has me watching Toguro's ugly physique, so, second place. Plastic surgery does you no good, Toguro-chan.

Agree. Naruto is so good until Pain. Fights are insanely animated. Power ups are hinted throughout, like if one ninja is skilled in one element (say, water), his power up skill is very belieavable and relevant. Or Naruto gradually turning into 2-tails, 4-tails, 8-tails .... we all expect it, and when it occurs, incredible. (though I remember a lot of moral exchanging when fighting which is shit)

Here, skills totally jump out of nowhere. Like Kuwabara's match when he's cornered, and suddenly Yukina shows up, and he wins thru the power of love?lol? Or the Genkai's match where she suddenly is able to absorb energy and reflect energy, super convenient cuz her opponent in that particular fight makes use of energy shooting. Very LOL.

But the worst part is as u say, boring boring stretches of cuts to Kuwabara's shouting, or the stupid demon audience, or to Koenma, or to the girls commenting, or to opponent's taunting each other and boasting. At the most only 3 minutes of quality fight time each episode.

Man Genkai was great. That episode actually got me emotional. I loved how Yusuke was drawn almost like a demon as he was screaming at and punching Toguro and how Toguro was drown incredibly grotesque as well. The relationship may not of been well founded on screen but the way the show portrayed Yusuke's emotions was gut wrenching.

Now we got a 4v4 for the final round, I'm curious how it's going to go. Should be some intense fights.'

probably the best fight of the series so far.
A battle of ideologies with some pretty good animation.

Toguro is grotesquely muscular to show how disgusting and inhuman he's become in his quest to retain his peak power. Yusuke receiving Genkai's power is the show saying that in order to progress, you have to pass on your knowledge and power to the next generation. If not, you become an insular being like Toguro here.

Genkai's death was a little played up. I didn't feel anything when it was made obvious she was going to die last episode, and I still didn't feel that much when it actually happened.

The hints towards Yusuke's power ups are a nice way to get us excited for the big showdown, though.

What an emotional episode. We've now lost Genkai, but that just means that Yusuke has the motivation to take on Toguro. He really has become inhuman hasn't? If that's his power at 80%, god only knows what Toguro's power is gonna like at 100. The past episodes were really building up to that moment and we got to see former friends fight each other.

Noo! Booo! Genkai was the best, she shouldn't have died by the hands of her annoying How dare you to be old!ex-comrade, now that is sad and not the supposedly "bond" between her and Yuusuke.

Yuusuke broke his hand and then proceed to mourn by punching a tree with the same hand xD
