So once they started showing scenery in the later half of the episode, I immediately recognized it was modeled after the Pripyat amusement park near the site of the Chernobyl disaster. I wonder how much Chernobyl plays into the main plot.

So one thing about The Earless... they definitely have ears.

Unless its meant to be that they're people who no one will lend an ear to? I don't know, I'm spitballing.

This show is still teetering on the edge of dropping for me, as it was after the first episode. Honestly I think the art is carrying it for me. I'm someone what interested in the world building, but less so in the actual plot itself, at least thus far.

Interesting reveals this episode. Fact that humans are earless was my first guess and here it is. No wonder why Players are most scared of them indeed, as the onee-chan pointed out.

μ being this overpowered relic of the former King or whatever bit, was a choppy way to introduce this plot thread but here's to hoping it'll be evaluated better from next time onwards. It was hard to pick up from these "illusions" though.

Lol, that autograph scene, μ's fail at the start and the steaming urine were hilarious bits though. And I'm really enjoying the duo so far.

Damn, that Op though. Creative and its got a certain flare to it, well done MAPPA! Even the ED song was pretty cool and likewise for the visuals. Is it going to be one of those EDs which uses footage from the episodes? Well, I'm curious if they'll follow this trend for next week. I suppose that'll answer it.

The OP really showed a lot of interesting things albeit the dull start. Looking forward for more. Probably going to have multiple EDs with the way they animated this first ED

Opening is great - both visuals and song.

There were some well drawn shots this episode.

And that's where my compliments end. Dropping for now, might return later if I hear good things about future episodes.

Oh, the mysterious player from the memory/vision looks like a combination of Mu and Echo.

The latter half of the episode was kind of a clusterfuck.
I'm also a bit disappointed in the animation and general visuals of the show, was expecting more.

I don't get why is the rating so low. This show definitely isn't a masterpiece but it's still pretty enjoyable. I was expecting so much worse.
I like Echo, he is a fun character. However, Myu (is that her name ?) seems pretty generic at the end. Apparently she is a queen or something ? Why do amnesiac characters always have to be super important people who don't behave as such because "memory loss" as if that could explain everything... Especially in Myu's case when she has a real personality. How can she if she doesn't remember anything ?
Also, I barely understood what exactly happened with those three women. They want Myu to remember who she is so they... Kidnapped her I think ? But I don't have a clue of what they were taking about during the fight aside from things directly related to Myu.
And what happened to Echo at the end ? I thought he was badly injured but he seemed to be pretty fine aside from the fact that he also got kidnapped by a weird pink mecha.
Speaking of mechas, I'm really not fond of them. They look ugly, same with their animation.
I'm looking forward to see how the story develops. I'm not expecting much, but it can still be enjoyable.

Not sure what turned up at the end or if the weird sisters are good or bad. One thing for sure though, this show is mental!

I think they aren't supposed to be good or bad, that is the intent of the director, I think. If it was obvious, they would be one dimensional characters.

It was rhetorical, but thank you for reading my post, at least someone does.

Interesting concepts and characterisation right now, with a high potential for some serious world-building.

I'm intrigued.

That's what death is, don't you think?

This series is gonna wind up heading down one of a few paths: 1.) Completely made up with no real direction as it goes along only to somehow make sense in the end. 2.) Become a series that makes no sense right now and is better off binged due to a weird narrative order 3.) Be yet another original series that needed 2 cours to actually be fleshed out but got forced into one 4.) Just become yet another pile of wasted potential that subverts expectations.

Either way, I find myself leaning more towards drop at this point in time. That clusterfuck I just saw was a solid 2/5

My god, i never imagined to see my weird thoughts that i can't generate into a single sentence be so flashed out by another person, kudos to you. I'm more inclined between 2 or 3 with 60% on 2nd because i'm confused as hell to the point where i don't know what to think or say about the episode.

You're totally wrong, just look at BNA which is also airing this season, ID:Invaded last season or Carole & Tuesday last year. Originals can make it, they just need to be good lmao.

I have NO clue what's going on, it's completely going into the realm of existential nonlinear storytelling, but I am still interested in finding out.

This show isn't the best, its animation quality is really choppy, but I enjoy the dynamic of the two main characters and am definitely interested to see where this show is going. I hope they can keep this puzzle of "what does is MEAN?" interesting. (I do wish that the Earless were more interesting, though. The whole "abstract black wavy blobs devoid of personality" thing isn't exactly the most interesting antagonist.)

@Caraculiambro

but honestly BNA have this receive only because of trigger fanboys. If not this studio (or other really famous) I highly doubt score would bo over 7/10.
Like it is really weird, anime have almost 9 thousand votes, score 7.9/10 but discussion posts can't even surpass 3 pages?

Ehh, when I heard that the anime was about a world without music, I was honestly hoping for something more like Carole and Tuesday. Now, this anime isn't bad, but it just feels bland. As of right now, there's really nothing pulling me in, nor is there anything making me actively dislike this show. The animation is okay, could definitely be better, especially with the cgi. The story is ehh, the characters are ehh(except for the three sisters, I loved them), and the entire show just feels ehh.

Outright wrong.
By your incredibly small proportions, there are still two other shows (Code Geass, Gurren Lagann).

Why not count movies? Just to make the amount so small? That would be 4 more entries (Your Name, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Wolf Children).

The reason why originals are less common is because there are not that many made in the first place. This season there at most 5 originals and over 15 manga adaptations. What do you expect?

You say "nothing is objective" yet you lampoon the entire site because they dislike it and you like it?

There are plenty of originals with a decent rating; at least 1 per year (Little Witch Academia, A Place Further, shows that were already mentioned yet "disproved" because some people complained, like with every show).

not a bad episode, but it feels a little soon for this kind of plot. To me, this feels like it should be a mid-season finale, like episode 6, or if this had been two cour series, episode 12. Kind of a nit pic from me, but it feels like we've only just entered this world, and we're suddenly transitioning into this big reveal. I'd like to see the world and get into the characters more before I get this kind reveal.

I think I liked the first episode more honestly, though probably because I found the trio to be kind of annoying, and little confusing(I was tired watching this one), and I really didn't want to hear about the origin of the Earless or transition into the story of the dark lord so soon, because those elements of the story don't matter as much to me when their shoved in my face. To be fair, I think they're trying to get that stuff out early on, but I'd rather build to that reveal.

It's not a show killer though, the soundtrack, style, Mu, and the start-up musician feel have already gotten my attention enough that I'll keep up with the series for quite a bit. Note: I'm tired writing this too, so sorry if I got a little rambly.

OST is good, but it's fine TBH.

But I don't know, this episode really gives off the vibe that everything is misplaced as of now, the puzzle pieces still in disarray.

Echo and Mu are off on their own distant journey, but this journey isn't without complexity and problems. Finding Players and fighting against the Earless, is just one pain in the butt.

And the steaming urine, exposed...

It's not surprising to see Echo shine his "junk" knowledge even against Players-turned-Earless who desire Mu's powers, but even that fighting against baddies that are cardboard characters, remind me too much of Madhouse's Afterlost that has a similar setting with a failed exposition.

Now the mecha genericness will rear this series' uglyhead...

@Ryuseishun I think it's painfully obvious how not much effort went into this episode, and just letting things glide the way it is now. It's quite misleading to prove that a studio's name can make a show good (looking at Madhouse's Afterlost), and Listeners here already is eroding that confidence way too early, even if it's early to tell.

This episode was better than the first one but it still hasn't grabbed my excitement to look forward to the next episode. The three sisters seem to be most interesting characters so far and they remind me slightly of Jessie and James from Pokemon with their dramatic way of speaking.

Carry overs from Ep 1, The Earless still suck.
3D mechs are still bad especially with the 3D Manikins on the shoulder.

Interactions between the main two feel hollow still.

The initial interactions between the sisters and Echo was actually really good, favourite part of the episode.

Why are the sisters describing everything that is happening in the Battle? Why do I still understand nothing after every little hint is then explained by the "baddies"? and Why is this so tedious.

Oh well, time for the 3 ep Rule finale.

LOL, "outright wrong". You cannot even read properly and stay on your lane. Take a breath. Slowly. Count to 10. read again.
I specifically don't count movies since they rarely if ever are adaptations due to the length of source of materials. And even if you hadn't moved the goalposts and I go with your TodAbot rules, there would still only be 5 of out 50 shows in the top 50 that are not adaptations. Even accounting for the disparity in the number of original shows made vs adaptations, it still shows how hard it is for original works to be appreciated on their own merits around here.
Granted it's not an anime only problem. The amount of reboots, sequels and adaptations that Hollywood pumps out are also a sign of the times when producers only dare to risk their money on known "properties" Sad times for creators of original content
peace out.

You say I can't even read properly, but then you say by my rules there would be "5 out of 50" when I literally counted the entries for you and you still got it wrong. 7 entries.
You don't count movies because most of them aren't adaptations? But there are 7 movies in the Top 50 that are adaptations; that's more than the original ones. If you didn't want to count them, you should have said "...out of 39 TV shows in the Top 50...", otherwise you're making the difference larger than it is.

"You cannot even read properly and stay on your lane. Take a breath. Slowly. Count to 10. read again." But I didn't even make a mistake while you are making many and don't even acknowledge them when people are calling you out.

You say that it shows how original shows aren't "appreciated on their own merits here", but I can't even tell what you're talking about. Shows that aren't in the Top 50 are still appreciated.

Yes. You are outright wrong.

Oh god, I'm reading the first reply you made and you say "no one can be totally wrong", even though the first statement you made is "Only adaptations can make it here it seems", and that's objectively wrong, because there are plenty of loved originals. And if you want to measure it in Top 50-isms, there 3 original shows and 4 original movies in the Top 50, which means that they did "make it".
