Well, that was quite sad. I like where this series is going. So far all the characters are really interesting, the art and OST are brilliant, definitely one of the better shows this season.

Yup, I'm really impressed by this series.

I really like this show, it's becoming my favorite of this season. The characters are awesome, and there's so much room for development with them. It's fun, but also has hints of a more serious atmosphere to it. I also just love the relationship between the family members, and even though it is fantasy and they're tanuki I relate a lot to them. The MC is awesome.

Learning more about the world through the show's characters is just as interesting as it was last week. It feels like there's so much of the setting yet to be fleshed out

WHAT how is MC not mad at her?! Perhaps there is more to the story.

I guess MC gets his gender changing habits from his mom. This anime has a nice OST.

Ok after reading this comments i felt like you guys must be messing with me. Why are so many people wondering why the main isn't furious to that woman?
Showing her image doesn't mean she ate his father, it was just a picture representative of humans who will put a tanuki in a hotpot(the image was shown probably because f her teasing threads about eating him in the first episode). That was all.
Sometimes i just can't believe you guys are that thick-head..

Hmm, first half was boring but second half made for it. I still don't know what is this anime trying to accomplish. But it's so different I keep watching it further.

Also, no Benten appearance this week, no bonus points this time :)

4/5

Practically the main plot shows no signs of life, this is just yet another episdoido approach to the family and not Shimogamo. Although there is little passion narrative from the end we are told so disillusioned, like all the time, the end of the householder. Technically it's beautiful, really beautiful with views of Kyoto. Except for the really horrible designs for lovers of the beautiful, the animations are fuide.
For things more or less good the highest mark I can give is 4/5.

Ah! Dialogues delicious.

So, Benten ate Yasaburou's father??
Poor Shimogamo family
It's so beautiful to have a family like that :)

This episode was better than the last one. Less confusing.

There are also new intriguing character : that girl under the bridge, the mother and of course the father. I love how she was telling them that being eaten was normal xD

That fight on the bridge was too long, they could have made it shorter and more interresting.

Damn that old guy got a hnad full of ass. lol

Wait, did Benten eat Yasaburo's father? Why!? It didn't say she did but it looked like it did.

Yea, I really like that ED. The OP is skippable for me.

The show is really interesting.

Four brothers and a great, great mother.

These two kind of evil tanuki brothers and then there is one sister (?) who saved the mother.

That tanuki scene when their father died was heartwarming.

Still enjoying the series, it's starting to make a bit more sense now too. In this episode we get to know a little more about the family. Including the younger and older brother we've already seen, a third brother we haven't and the mother. She's mainly the focus of the episode, if begins with her going to the pool hall in a Prince form. And the climax is the brothers fighting off their dick head cousins to save her when it starts storming. Their mother is deathly afraid of storms (I assume they'll explain this more later) and has been hit by a car in a previous incident.

After they duke it out with their horrible stiff shirt cousins (that was pretty awesome the Lion and Tiger fight) who attempt to impede them for no real reason. They find her under a bridge rescued by their third female cousin. She seems like she'll be significant, the mother even comments she's the only member of that family she likes. Curiously we don't see her face in this episode though.

On a similar note we meet the second brother in this episode as well. But he is permanently stuck as a frog and lives in a well. I feel like there's some sort of symbolism. Or larger meaning behind this. This brother, Yajiro definitely seems to represent stagnation. How apathy and laziness can leave you in a pitiful state or something. After all he can't change back because he used his powers too infrequently. But I also feel that like transforming tanukis their might be some old legend they're riffing on with him I just don't get. Oh well a lot of compelling new stuff in this episode. One pretty quick but fun action scene. Can't wait to see more.

I liked this more than the first episode.

This show does not give two shits about gender roles. Our main protagonist first appears wearing a dress this time, with his mother proudly dressed as a prince.

The Ebisugawa brothers are so cruel/full of themselves. But did Yaichirou seriously bite the one in the dick?

Their mother is really cute as a tanuki. It's a bit of a shock to see something that cute say "The Ebisugawas can all go to hell."

I'm going to agree with the part of this thread that doesn't think the show was trying to say that Benten ate their father in the hot pot, and was using her as an example of a human the protagonist has a connection with.

I'm not clear. Does the general human population realize tanukis actually exist? Or do they just consider them folklore? Can they not see them when they are in giant tiger form and whatnot? If they are aware of their existence, how do they not mind eating them in a stew?

I'm aware that rabbits exist and I don't mind eating them in a stew... I mean, sure rabbits don't have human-level intelligence like the tanuki, but I'm sure they taste similar.

Ginkaku and Kinnkaku are lame as hell, but amusing.

Really liked the episode again, especially the family bond that was portrayed. And mother reaffirmed that this is indeed an eccentric family.

P.S. Forgot to mention it before. Opening and ending are nice.

I wonder, does Yasaburo have no grudge against humans? Or has he just given up and accepted reality? He seems to enjoy doing some activities as a human and I guess that's necessary because that's how he lives his life... but is there a feeling that... I don't know how to explain it, but their father was eaten by humans, while they (Shimogamo Family) live socially as humans....

I know that this is how they live, but I wonder how they feel every time they change their form into a human since their father was eaten. Btw, the OP sounds good~
