| The first 4 episodes were great, but everything after that has been a downward spiral so far. Hopefully next episode will pick up again. |

| This is the weakest episode, by far. And I'm not sure why the producers had Filo mentioning about becoming Naofumi's mate when that wasn't present in the LN or manga. At least we get the zombie dragon next episode. |

| I swear... The amount of people that think this is a worthless filler episode annoys me. It's like you don't understand how a story is supposed to get told. Plots climb and fall with highs and lows. You can't run at high all the time or the next "high" you really want to hit home will fall flat. These episodes are the calm before the storm. And as story telling episodes, you get quiet a bit of both plot AND character development. You find out how both the spear and sword gero have screwed up, and Raphtalia-chan has become less jealous of Filo, and Filo has come to accept Raphtalia-chan more. This is how story works. Filler, this is not. As to the people talking about Filo wanting to be Naofumi's mate... I think that happened in the Web Novel. I might be wrong, but that line didn't feel out of character to me. I'll have to try and find it again to be sure. Edit: “Firo, you really do like Naofumi-sama don’t you.” “Yup! I won’t lose to you Raphtalia onee-chan.” “How did you end up with that!” Chapter 34 of the web novel, right before plant village and the two making up |

| A town being tormented by vines and they are also parasitic? I got an unpleasant flashback to The Ruins movie... Either way, kinda funny how Naofumi is never escaping the Spear Hero's actions. I loved the interactions between Raphtalia and Filo when Raphtalia was hanging in that tree/monster. Like even in that situation, they are joyful and teasing each other. The one thing so far that I dislike about Naofumi, is that he's asking money for everything he does. Like I get it, he needs it for upgrades to armour/weapons and food, but as Raphtalia pointed out he seems a bit too greedy in my eyes. Maybe that will change in the future. Onsen scene is also present in this episode, honestly can't complain at that. Raphtalia thinking that kissing with Naofumi might get her pregnant was too funny. Her jealousy is off the charts though! So cute! |

| Well, I'm a dit disappointed by the latest episodes. The main character is still over-unfriendly for no reason and very not appealing. The love triangle is kinda cringe and took a spot too big in the 7th episode. I suppose things are getting better on the second half of the anime, but for now, it's just good with some obvious flaws. |

| This anime sucks so much, I'm going to drop it. Even SAO wasn't this bad.. c'mon man whats this with isekai's turning their heroine's into one track minded/useless puppets for the MC? this is some SAO shit all over again. I'm disappointed in you guys for liking this trash. |

Filler, this is not. Yes, when reduced to the Cliffs Notes version this episode doesn't seem too bad. And honestly I would say that a lot of the rest of the series doesn't seem too bad from the 30,000-foot view, either. It's when you look at the actual execution that it starts to feel like filler. The ease with which Naofumi resolves the initial conflict makes all of that kind of feel like filler; the bowing and scraping villagers and Naofumi being the best merchant ever feels like filler;and the fact that we have an unnecessary romance/love triangle sub-plot feels like filler. Flipping it around into kind of a bonding moment is a good touch, but that doesn't explain why it's even an angle to begin with. The part of this episode with the most potential to be interesting, and with the most impact on the overall story, took up maybe a third of the running time at best. Thus, probably why a lot of people feel like the remainder of the episode is filler. And while it's true that lulls in the action are a necessary part of story-telling, this series feels overweight in terms of "downtime"; we've already had the obligatory onsen episode, barely a quarter of the way through. |
| Good first half. The second half shoulda been an ova tho. Also they're kinda abusing the whole raphtalia vs filo thing, I really hope they'll go easy on that in the next eps, it's getting a little annoying tbh |

| Good episode. It felt like the vine village stuff went by super fast but then again it seems like they covered everything important there so I guess it was actually that short after all. XD I absolutely love it when Raphtalia reacts with her ears and tail. So adorable. <3 Also, bless this anime for giving me Raphtalia with her hair tied up. That was a welcome surprise. <3 The only thing I dislike about this episode is how obvious the 'romance' pandering is. In the WN, the trio feel a lot closer and Filo only ever wants attention, she never goes around saying she wants Naofumi to be his mate or whatever. For Raphtalia, while it is clear that she wants Naofumi to look at her romantically, she's never overly open about it. She also never really comes of as jealous of Filo, in fact she is genuinely quite like a sister to Filo and she takes care of her. I can understand if they want to make Raphtalia's romantic actions/thoughts a little more overt but making Filo do it as well makes the show seem a little harem'ish when that really isn't the case. |

| Is it just me or was this episode pretty much just filler? It's hard to see this having any significant impact in the story. Anything that could be meaningful such as the tool Naofumi got at the end didn't really warrant an entire episode. |
| Pretty average episode with some fun moments. Good thing Raphtalia and Filo made up and bought Naofumi a gift together! First half was pretty interesting, looks like Naofumi excels in these kind of tricky situations(already mentioned though, if I'm not wrong). Next episode shall be a cracker, looking forward to seeing the Curse Shield! Hopefully, we get back to the tone as the first four episodes now before it's too late. |

I heard this twice now. But in the manga she does get jealous, maybe not to the same degree. In the previous episode when they were making the clothes for Filo; Raph was even more jealous in the manga. |
| Good episode, shield hero clean the mess of spear hero. Shield hero save the village, hot spring part is cute. Raph jealous of Filo but they reconcile each other after. Overall its like Spice and Wolf episode with that trade talks. |

She is a daughter to Naofumi and their relationship doesn't go further than father-daughter family bond, same with Raphtalia and Firo. They're not love rivals, they are more like sister. I just don't know what the fuck the production team is thinking for fucking up this episode like this. Harem bait I guess. Every issekai needs a harem. Such a pity because Shield Hero doesn't need harem to be good. |
| The hot bath scene....Raphtalia is so cute when she blushes xD I love that they are showing us that Raphtalia has love interests in him. I don't think that Filo is interested in him in that way. Apparently, the next episodes will be really good, can't wait! Naofumi is a good person but he has some greedy moments xD But i guess that he really needs that money for something important? So, in the end, as it was expected, the spear hero found the solution for a problem to make the problem even bigger xD |

| I find it kinda interesting how the standard response to someone's negative opinion here is to refer to the source material and how different its approach is from the anime. Feels a bit like criticism is just being deflected cause "the source material did it this & that way though". I'm not against bringing in the source material at some points of the discussion but having threads littered with the exact same kind of rebuttals seems a bit odd. |

| I didn't like the harem'like feeling of this episode. One of the things I really liked about this anime was the family-like bond between the three characters. The part with the plants was quite interesting. I love seeing Naofumi grow, and the spear hero slowly fail. |
