Dropped within 13 min.

The art is like the most dull seinen-looking I've seen (which is unfortunate, when the trippy opening looks so much better). The expository dialogue is insanely forced. The pacing is all over the place. There's no sense of transition, and scenes last for such a short time, the end product is nauseating to watch.

I mean, the kidnapping was really convenient to set the plot in motion, felt a bit rushed as a whole too, but it seems promising.
Liking the family dynamics of it, it isn't just a brother and sister or w.e taking on the baddies.

Disappointed. I did not want to see supernatural.

They should put the label "supernatural" in this title.

"Mystery + horror" basically translates into "supernatural". Though if it goes full horror for even a fraction of existence (scare for the purpose of the scare) I will not endure it any longer.

But it has no horror as a label. Drama + psychological + mystery + seinen suggested something more realistic to me.

Monster, Perfect Blue, Danganronpa, Memories are all horror + psychological + drama without supernatural.

Definitely an interesting start to the series, I hope they keep the time power simple and constant and try not to make it too complex because at that point so many plot holes would pop up it would make the story pretty dumb

I quite liked the OP for this one. As others, the undressing in the ED felt weird for this one. Otherwise I think it was a pretty good start.

Well, Danganronpa is borderline supernatural, it falls into that sci-fi that was simply not proven impossible by science yet (a masterpiece, without a doubt). Either way, the original source was labeled as horror, so I decided not to elaborate much (so far it seems more like a thriller) and say "horror".

It is obvious the kidnapping was a part of the plan of those scum that also can move in the "Stasis". See how Yakuza-looking imbeciles are talking about "Wasn't it supposed to be a girl?" meaning they had beforehand information about their victims. They were simply tricked to kidnap half the family to lure out the grandfather because he is some kinda pure-blood disciples of sorts. It all falls into place perfectly, if you do not elaborate on how the, well... *EXOTIC* is the setting.

Great start, going to watching this with interest. I can definitely see it going a bad way in terms of pacing. I hope it takes a bit of time to slow down in episode 2 or 3 now that it's made a splash with its first episode, we'll see.

Overall, I have high hopes. OP is fantastic, ED a little strange with the fan service, music is groovy. Premise and characters are top notch so far.

We'll see where this goes. At worst we'll get something like Mayoiga/Occultic;Nine. I really want it to be good, but I'm afraid the pacing will leave character development in the dust.

Lol did you just hesitate with the ED's fan service? xD Lol I think it was much needed after all that edgy business going on towards the end.
Hehehe I kid, but hey....who's complaining?

99% of the time, when I dislike an anime within 10 minutes, I usually dislike it for the next 10 minutes too.

It's interesting, it has intriguing concepts, the pacing itself is exciting and... I'm kind of unimpressed and I can't figure out why. It feels promising but cold and emotionally detached, it will probably get better and at the very least it's very enjoyable but the impression it gave was not of something that will stick with me. And with all the crazy ideas and concepts this episode showed or hinted at it's kind of weird that I feel like this.

Well, I did. I gave my opinion on half of the entire episode.
But nobody wants to actually discuss with me.
Well, nobody on MAL discusses with anyone, unless it means arguing.

That opening is gonna be my new jam. Got me hyped, was pretty dang strange, and has raised my expectations for this anime quite a bit. As well as just this episode, I liked it. I liked it a lot. Even that CG monster was done pretty well, he moved so smoothly. I look forward to more.

Is it accurate that they ask what your family does for work in Japan interviews? They even knew she had a brother, and connected with her father, before hand. That'd really suck if you'd have to explain your family work habits to get a job lol.

very impressive and intense 1st episode!
I think so far, this would be the best first episode (since many shows still not yet aired)
Stasis huh, so this world is a very dangerous one!
gonna surely follow this series!
5/5.

Pacing was absolutely NUTS, I never touched the manga and couldn't get a grasp on even a third of the concepts thrown at me.
But I got hopes for it, I liked the blunt way they adressed violence, but it can go to a good show if they get that pacing right or a bad show if the story turn out empty and they just rush all over it.

Cool start, although I'll try to keep my expectations on a neutral level. I hope the story is focused more on the mystery rather than the supernatural elements but that's unlikely to be the case, and I won't mind as long as the supernatural stuff is intriguing. Anyway, it was a promising first episode. Bonus points for the characters being adults lol

I agree with you on all of that. I prefer psych thrillers where the emphasis is on the mystery and the psychology rather than on the yokai.

With a plot like this I thought it was 'childish' for the lack of better word, because of that quantum break and superpower stuff.

Also wtf with this show ED.

Please don't be a trainwreck. Please don't be a trainwreck. Please don't be a trainwreck. Please don't be a trainwreck.

Pretty dope that a lot of great things happened already in just one episode. Goddamn. Loved it!

That big-ass creature, though.

What a weirdly interesting show. I shied from it initially cause it just looked from some classic edge drama, which I don't really go for, but after getting some solid endorsements I'm kinda glad I checked this out.

The music is off-beat, eerie, and grungy, which sets the tone of the show perfectly. The OP definitely put me in the right frame of mind too.

The design of the Herald reminds me of a FromSoft boss. And Juri isn't a half-bad main character; a little foggy at the moment, but I'm expecting some solid development.

Also, the OP and ED were both great. Not a huge fan of the music but the music along with the animation was so much more interesting than almost everything else I've seen this season.
