I couldn't disagree more. The art for the first episode of season two is abyssmal. I honestly can't recall seeing anything quite as bad. I see amateurs on youtube with less time and money crank out better animations. It's insultingly bad.

But that's literally the joke... This show isn't trying to be the next Akira or Mob Psycho in terms of technically spectacular animation. Time and time again it uses its low grade animation to make the characters look as stupid visually as they are narrative-ly. It's part of what makes the humor so funny. Seeing the way that each character seems to deform in the most ridiculous ways possible is meant to make you laugh. It's one thing to say that isn't to your taste but I think you're missing the forest for the trees when you say the art is abysmal.

I actually liked season 1. But somehow i couldn't like anything about season 2. Art, humour, even voice actors seems off to me.

Regardless of the art change, S1 was pretty good because of its MMO parodic elements, but so far S2 has only been about sexual perversion, not that it was absent from S1 but the show relies too heavily on it now. In a way you could tell something was wrong the minute S2 continued from the OVA instead of considering it a filler omake.

Just keep it for yourself if you dislike it, cause you cannot compare about people interest . . .

I agree, the animation and art in S2 definitely adds to the comedy, and I find myself genuinely chuckling throughout the episodes more often than I did in S1. Don't know what people are whining about.

tbf I love it's shitty animation and artstyle.
I find that it adds to the humour and makes the show just one giant parody of the "stuck in another world" genre.

I find that it fits the idea of laughing at the show rather than laughing with it :')

I'm here for the laughs, couldn't care less for the art or animation (not even bad imo). People are just being too picky.

As a fanboy of this anime, even I think it's kind of getting stale. All the humour is almost the same:
Kazuma is a cynical asshole, only amped up in S2.
Aqua is a spoiled bitch.
Megumin's loves explosions. Thankfully, a good amount of her comedic seasons in S2 aren't about them.
Darkness's ENTIRE character revolves around her masochism, which has also been amped up.
Everyone's a f*cking idiot.
Sure, they do different things, but...it's the same thing. All the character interactions are just them talking crap at each other. There's no particular focus on the world building, even though the anime plays out like a slice of life with no actual plot (which is fine).
I predict that if I wasn't watching this weekly, I would've probably dropped it by now.

Season 2 follows one of the 12 principles of animation strictly: Squish and squash. Meaning, to make objects squeesh, and deformed, to add weight.

But I only do 1 thing is rate that show 5/10, im not start a discussion in the show's forum to explain how I feel, you know why? Because its just my opinion, Im not try to make people hate Re:zero too. IM NOT A TEN YEARS OLD CHILD

I don't believe the show is quite as shallow as you say it is. There is world building in every episode that has been released so far. Like how it's set up that dungeon that Aqua and Kazuma enter but then shows us the ramifications of their actions within that dungeon on the world around them. You just don't get see stuff like that in enough shows.

The characters are amped up in their obsessive natures (except Megumin) because it's revealing how each is so accustomed to being around the others that they don't mind being themselves, it's the sign of character growth. Megumin isn't amped up because her true self isn't just obsessed with explosions, she's genuinely come to love her friends and can't bare to lose them. Which we see time and again with her interactions with Kazuma.

Let me boil it down for every one in this thread. You like what you like and you hate what you hate; You let others like what they like and hate what they hate. You listen and arrive at a compromise; You get heard and arrive at a compromise.

Maybe you're right. My bad memory + watching weekly = forgetting a lot of stuff.
There is plenty of variety in the comedy. Maybe upon rewatch once the dub's out, with marathoning, maybe I'll love the anime more. I've watched a few comedy anime, and Konosuba's definitely feels more thought-out and unique than them.

After reading a bit in this thread, I feel like I'm the only one who had a blast watching it and didn't notice anything bad about the art. I feel as if it's one of those truly unique comedy anime, and I hope it gets a third season.

What were you expecting? The dialogue was good but Aqua was annoying as fuck. The light novel is clearly better.

Just like with any form of entertainment or comedy, whether someone enjoys it or not is subjective. I personally also did not enjoy it, but that doesn't mean "its not great" It's not great for me, since the humor is not for me. I find most of the characters simply annoying and they do tend to rehash the same jokes about eighty times. If other people enjoy it though and get fun out of it, good for them, they have every right to.

Watching Onihei and Konosuba this season,.. sometimes you just need to unwind.

Like @Takuan_Soho said, it's the anti-PC nature that does it for me, even if the humour itself is pretty simple. It satisfies my cynicism. The biggest kick in PC balls, is that a good deal is the result of Kazuma insisting on treating men and women entirely the same. It makes PC people short-circuit.

I'm not trying to bash on Konosuba, I think it's an entertaining anime, but i wouldn't call it a ground-breaking experience. The humour was not particularly clever or mature. Most jokes revolved aound characters having some sort of perversion or obsession, and i don't know why i'm supposed to laugh whenever Aqua gets eaten by a giant frog. The animation is whatever, it's nothing spectacular for 2016 and i don't see much of a difference with season 2.

First thing, How do you rate comedy or humour? Which are comedy with groundbreaking humour? Which are the comedy that are right to be enyojed? May be you could say that some absurd comedy mangas are more original than others but i wouldn't talk about groundbreaking humour or something like that, but those series usually are episodic series (as Gintama, excel saga,...) , not serial. Is GTO groundbreaking humour? I don't think so it is some times even more repetitive.

May be you could complain about other things as repetitive jokes (but some people wants to watch the same thing again and again, there are shows with 200+ episodes that they are the same joke again and again). The animation wasn't really great 1st season or 2nd season although sometimes is fun because it is paired with those wacky characters.

Madness17 said:
So, what i'm really trying to wrap my head around is why so many people set their expectations so high for season 2 and ended up being disappointed when they got the exact same thing as season 1. What were they even expecting? And what's more baffling is that the people who complain about season 2 are the same people who loved the hell out of season 1. They say things like "Season 1 was a MASTERPIECE, but season 2 is pure GARBAGE!" You usually expect these fanboys to get really defensive about their show and overlook most of the flaws that might apear within it. But for some reason they went the other way and started complaining about everything instead of being happy that their dumb comedy is getting another season.

Second thing there aren't so much people who are unsatisfied with 2nd season. At the moment konosuba 2nd season is 126 with 8.46 with is crazy good better than the first season. You just read some people who doesn't know what they are watching, because if you watch a 2nd season of a ln based parody series, you are going to watch probably something really similar.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were vibrant and had their own quirks and flaws, the art style was absolutely hilarious for the intended effects, and the voice acting was near perfect. The only thing I could really criticize would be the lack of an interesting plot for most of the episodes, but honestly I was too busy having fun watching the main characters to even think about it.

I respect your opinion that konosuba is bad, but I disagree. I rewatched watch two seasons and 2 ovas of knosouba more than 10 times and I still love this series, and IMO one of the best comedy anime of all time. But I understand the criticisms about konosuba, because I hear about them many times and I am aware of from sloppy animations to lackluster jokes.

However, I think konosuba's positives do outweigh the negatives. This anime is very self-aware and of course hai hai Kazuma~desu, my fav character of all time.

Also konosuba anime helped me in rougher times in my highschool years when I felt depressed back then, but that's my story and I don't know yours. So please, fill free to criticize it and don't stop.

However keep in mind, don't splat out your opinion without being prepared for complaints, because expect criticisms and backlash from other people and don't whine about it, it's the internet.

Hopefully you will understand why I am typing this up, and consider my stance on this topic...

agree

slightly above mediocre anime

nothing original, the jokes aren't that funny either and the characters aren't unique or funny or anything

it got some good publicity and all the underage kids are on the train now and there's no stopping it
lots of music -
