The MC will be the death of this show for me. He's unlikable and has no talent whatsoever. Sure, he'll grow and maybe become useful, but he's not like the other MCs of shows such as Ace of Diamond, Kuroko, Haikyuu, etc. where they all continue to improve from their already existing talent.

At least he's got spunk...

I think that's what I actually want to see. Enough of the good getting better and more of a worst developing some talent :") since I personally know how hard it is to be talentless and being told no for that

He was behind everyone during whole game. He was never fast at running there. The only reason he scored is because he aimed for the ball from a get go while everyone else gave up. If they ran for it as well, they would be faster.

MC was not a good runner in that game, he just had a goal, to run for the ball no matter what.

I was actually surprised in liking this, while I like sports anime, some sports I just can't get into. And with the soccer scene at the beginning I thought it was going to be this. I don't know if it was intentional, but I was laughing the whole time. But I don't think it was at the parts that were supposed to be funny, I think I just thought the show was weird and laughed at it. No matter what I was laughing at, I enjoyed it. Although like other people have said, major gay vibes. I was not prepared. Like Free, I was expecting it, but this is all the sudden like bam GaY! It seemed like they didn't try to make it gay, it just ended up hella gay. Great first episode though.

Reminds me more of Yowamushi Pedal than Baby Steps. I'll watch this because of MAPPA, but this was so forced. At least the characters are pleasant enough. I like shows with nice characters. You thought those guys were going to be delinquents, but then they turned out to be awesome dudes.

Normally I don't do sports anime but I checked this out because it was football and done by MAPPA. I was not disappointed. Pretty solid start. A classic underdog story. You might as well call him the Japanese Carles Puyol.

Very good start to what looks to be a fun soccer anime. I already like the dynamic of the two main characters Tsuki and Kazuma.

Ah, watching sports anime, especially ones about soccer is fun but also hard for me. Tsukushi is basically how I started out in soccer. I had a little natural talent and worked hard to make the team in high school but because of my father at the time, I had to quit. I was still very passionate about it though and finally joined a team in college. I was far behind everyone in experience and skill-level though, especially when the majority of the team had been playing since they were five. During try-outs, I was able to show that I was good at sprints but not long distance and even beat several teammates in races. But, once a lot of the "weaker" players left the team because it was too hard, I stuck out like a sore thumb and had to push myself extra hard to even be acknowledged. Like Tsukushi, I was forced to leave practice one time because Coach caught me limping and I couldn't keep up with everyone. The suicides were always the worst for me too because I always kept up at first but after 10 or so of them across the entire field, I'd lose my stamina fast and our coach was like a drill instructor. If we made the first one, there in back, in a minute, we'd have to make the next one in under that or she'd add an extra one. Anyway, I had a chance to prove myself to the team and fucked up big time when I was supposed to make a corner shot to the MF and ended up kicking it to the opposite team. I had panicked because in practice, I had never been the one to set up that play and it had always been the Star Forward instead, not me. The captain was pissed and said, "Thanks for looking for me." It was all downhill from there. I ended up getting injured toward the end of the season with a hip pointer to where I couldn't walk without extreme pain. Coach kept me out of our last game and I was never able to make up for what I did so it's a painful memory. I had some good moments like being told I was the best at keeping the ball away from the opposite team and blocking or when I caught the captain's shots repeatedly during a practice game but mostly I just have regret.

Anyway, before someone gets pissed about my life story, I really do think I'll enjoy this anime. I relate to Tsukushi so much already. He's already motivating me to get back on the field to train again and even look into some city teams.

Also, Tsukushi and Kazama had some hella gay moments but it wouldn't be a sports anime without some of that so right on!

That what came into my mind , and if my memory serves me right it was the left post to be exact , that was a funny moment but the funneist goes to that time when he knocked that italian player in world cup lol

I am quiet frustrated by the fact that Kazama somehow ended picking Tsukamoto out of all people. What was the reason? The boy (who by the way looks about 12 years old) showed neither ability nor desire to play.

Kazama seems like a nice solid character (though he is drawn too womanlike). I hope we will see more of his strong side ^^

The Captain has a sexy vibe! I want more of him~

I did not expect this to have so many gay vibes. I guess I will continue watching for more. xD And also for Kazama because I like him. Tsukushi's permanent blush (or whatever these pink things are) needs to go away. Also, realistically speaking, what are the chances that you will receive a ball in your face while playing football? I felt like this happened way too often to him. Tsukushi would probably die if he tried playing volleyball.

I KNOW this will get better, but the first episode was just cringey as fuck, so I had to endure it. Not too big of a fan of the blush circles on MC.
I admit that I enjoy watching OP characters being good, but this is literally the starting line for MC becoming good. I'll probably end up watching this despite having to suffer watch a beginner trying hard.

Gah. I get that our MC is an underdog, but I hate it more that he has such rosy cheeks. >.<

They need to remove that. I have a feeling they may only remove it when he starts to become more useful to the team.

Why do creators feel it's necessary to make a Sports anime where the MC is pathetic and can't play to making him the best. Honestly it's getting old imo.

This episode was a struggle to get through. The art and animation was subpar at best and the MC is typical. We'll see in a few weeks if I drop this one.

Found my next sports fix. Damn that was a pretty solid start. The plays were awesome, MAPPA does deliver. That headbutt into the goal post, OUCH. I could feel that impact for a moment. While Tsukushi is fairly typical, I'm still interested in seeing how a complete novice with absolutely no specialties or affinity with the sport will make it.

I had alot of fun with this one, the characters are definitely quite fun to watch and the show has a decent sense of humor on its shoulders that isnt too over the top. I love the way the artstyle looks and think the animation while not in your face amazing was really well done and fluid with everyone's movements this episode.

guess like the mc this show will be the underdog of the season

that is actually a pretty good start imo. i enjoyed it too.
though, i can feel the hype coming from this sports anime.
i'm a fan of soccer/football even tho i'm not following the real life one at all and i really want to see soccer/football in anime. and finally someone made it. but just a little dissapointment that this anime, for the first episode, didn't really look hype to me. just pretty good. that's all. and the animation looks great for sports. glad that they didn't use CG/3D animation fully 100% lol XD

but anyway, i'm looking foward for the next episode :D

Not a fan of the visuals or the humor.
I really don't get is the relationship between Jin and Tsukushi.
Jin asks this random, weakly looking guy if he wants to play soccer because... he is the main character?
Tsukushi then becomes very passionate to the point of harming him self because ... they want to tell an underdog story, I guess.

I'm usually a fan of this kind of story, but this just feels forced.

Jin...he's hot.
Umm I read that according to the original material, they did skip important scenes between the main male characters soo idk how i feel about that, it kinda made the interaction between them a bit too suden.
BUT its a very entertaining ep so far :)

An unbearable main character, boring as hell side characters, butt-ugly character design, bad music, unfunny jokes, pseudo-drama that I can smell 20 episodes before it happens and the lamest attempt at an underdog story I've ever seen.

The meeting between the main characters was so random and out of place. Took a look at the first chapter of the manga and it made much more sense. Typical underdog story, but haven't seen a football anime in a while so I'll give this a go. Hopefully the mc won't get on my nerves :/

I've read that the beginning of the manga was different and tbh the manga version seems 10x better than what we got in the first episode. It didn't make much sense that Kazama randomly invites him like that but oh well, I guess this us ok as well.

This episode seemed kinda rushed. They got attached to each other so damn quick. It's as if they skipped a part in the middle.

Nonetheless, I absolutely love it because I really like football. A MC that's still a beginner and gets better and better every time is something I always enjoy.

4/5

PS: Kazama doesn't seem like the guy who has a lot of friends even though it was said that he easily gets girlfriends (with big breasts xD)
