oh no i would never watch that thing. i just wanted you to confirm my bias hehe sorry. i saw few seconds of it and heard opinions of others and saw the trailer. it felt like it was trying too much or maybe a bit edgy. it wasnt anne from the books or the anime. i noticed there are stuff done better anime and same in books. i like them both, but i think i like the anime better. i am at episode 23. tea invitation. it is really fun to read one chapter then see how it is executed in the anime. i dont this always but it is good. it feels i can learn about anne more or understand her better this way.

When it comes to the rakugo performances themselves (the actual story), as you said, it's hard for a non-Japanese speaker to fully understand what it is that makes them so amazing. I find myself chuckling along to the stories at times, but overall, I can't quite keep up.
Surprisingly, I don't find the scenes boring at all though, and it's quite easy to distinguish between a good performance and a bad performance. The brilliant directing, cutting, and pacing is what we can owe that to tho ^^

How about you; how do you feel about rakugo?

I hope that the latter part of S2 gives him the development that he deserves ^^
After seeing the videos of Kiku and Sukeroku, he might better his rakugo a lot though! It seems like the series was trying to shpw that this was a vital part for him, but I don't know.

Who's your favourite character in the series btw?

I was on board with them at first, and I must say, I do still love Bon more, but Yotaro has grown on me a bit, and I'm genuinly looking forward to seeing where he goes from here ^^ how about you?

I found the second season hard to get into at first, but now I'm quite emotionally invested. Not as much as in the first season, but still more than any 'ol show. As you said, the writing is incredible.
I do still love the first season more though ^^

I've considered that fact, yes. It's so natural to pick up traits and such from the media you're consuming, so the more you watch that sorta show, the easier it gets to fall into those sort of behavioural patterns.
But I think it's easy to avoid if you're being very self-aware of the fact that it may happen, though.

I completely get where you're coming from, and I think your opinion is pretty valid, but after all, whether an anime or manga is "good" or not is completely based on personal preferences, and that's where we differ.
I'm not a huge fan of student-teacher relationships either, as I think they're just wrong on a fundamental level, but other than one-sided feelings, I don't consider this story to really have one of those relationships. Yes, the main character is on love with her neighbour, who ended up being her homeroom teacher, but the feelings are completely one-sided, and she knows it. She knows he'll never reciprocate her feelings; he's even said it himself, that "this will never become romantic". She doesn't hold any hope to them ever dating, which is why I think this series excels at what it's trying to do.
And when it comes to girl-girl relationships, I do love those quite a bit, obviously; as I'm quite gay myself. As far as the girl-girl relationship in this particular series goes, I think it might be the most toxic one out of all of them, which is why I don't ship the two together, at all. But I still don't mind some queerness in a series; in fact, it's highly welcomed.

You're right; these characters are toxic, but they're meant to be. And I have come across such fucked up people in my life; most people I meet and have been involved with are at least a bit comparable to these characters. Heck, even I am one of those fucked up people, which might be caused my a mix of my own /extremely/ cynical views on love, as well as my own greed and toxicity, which I hate myself for, just as these characters do.
Every "relationship" I've ever been in has been nothing more than a physical thing to make ourselves less lonely, and I'm not to say that I support those sort of relationships; they are fucked up and will only ruin your psyche, but at least for a lot of people, it's relatable as hell.

I haven't gotten around to watching Akagami no Shirayuki-hime yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll love it quite a lot when I do. I've heard time and time again that the romance in this series is exactly the type I'd appreciate (my friends know exactly what sort of things I'd like, haha). Respect and understanding are, at least in my eyes, two of the most important traits you'd need in a functional and healthy romance, so I agree with you there. That's not to say that a romance can't exist without those traits, but it'd be more dysfunctional than otherwise.

I'm quite looking forward to see where ACCA is heading.
A lot people are complaining about the slow pace, but honestly, it doesn't bother me one bit. It might've bothered me a bit more if I hadn't looked into the staff on the series though; mainly the studio behind it, as well as the voice actors.
Studio Madhouse rarely fails to disappoint me, and there are such a large array of talented voice actors that my head spins whilst looking through the cast, lol. Miyano Mamoru (Schwan)'s work is as flawless as ever ^^

As for Kuzu no Honkai, I'm aware it's certainly not for everyone (heck, even ACCA isn't for everyone), but it ticks off more or less all the brackets I need to score highly on a show, and the plot and characters are squeezing my heart with every episode.
Production wise, I think it's amazingly done. Honestly, it's one of the best directed shows I've seen in a long, long while.
The art style is no less than breathtaking, and I love how they've successfully managed to cut corners with animation, whilst still making it look stunning. The little panels that appear at times not only succeeds in saving them money, but it also looks really pretty, as well as helping with the overall deliverance of the plot itself.
The OST isn't extremely memorable, but it really helps with setting the tone for the series, and the OP and ED are both very good, and fits very well with the series. Every time the ED-song, Heikousen, starts playing towards the end of the episode, my heart literally tightens, haha.
And don't get me started on the voice actors! They are doing such an amazing, amazing job. There is one person who feels a bit out of place when it comes to her voice compared to the rest, but that's not to say that she's a bit voice actor, she is in fact doing a really good job, but her voice sounds like it's made for a moe blob series instead.
When it comes to the plot and characters, well, as you said yourself, it's understandable that it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I'm not the biggest fan of most romance animes, as I tend to find it excruciating when it takes 3 seasons for the main romantic couple to even hold hands, all the while whilst remaining completely oblivious to each other's feelings, despite every little signal of the feelings being mutual blazing wildly at all times. And even if they do in fact start dating, it takes 3 more seasons for them to kiss. I know it's just a matter of preference, but for me, I like to relate to the romance series I watch, and I've literally never even been close to experiencing a romance that has been so "pink and sparkly", hence tending to like series like Nana and Kuzu no Honkai a lot more.
As the show's title says (Kuzu no Honkai, Scum's Wish), the show's main focus is on the worst part of relationships, and explores the greed, jealousy, and the more physical part of relationships, as well as the consequences this all brings. The show has a lot of NSFW scenes, but never have I felt them to be for the sake of fanservice. The purpose of these scenes aren't to turn you on and give you satisfaction, like the purpose of a regular 'ol ecchi show (or a straight up hentai) would. The scenes are there to give character development and show how the mind of these characters work, as well as upset the viewer, as it hurts to see the characters fuck themselves up like this. When watching, you know that this is gonna have negative consequences on not just their lives, but also their mental health, and that's what so great about how these scenes are done. They work the way they're supposed to, and at least to me and everyone I've talked to, doesn't just feel like fanservice for the sake of fanservice.
The romance portrayed in Kuzu no Honkai is much more realistic than other series, especially when it comes to the complex emotions each relationship shows, and showing that it doesn't in fact take 3 seasons for a couple to kiss. The things these characters are doing with each other is what a regular couple do; it's a natural part of being young, at least for the people lucky enough to find themselves a partner.
The characters themselves are very fleshed out and real, all of them displaying a very realistic array of emotions, to the extent that even though they do horrible things at times, you understand perfectly well why, and can sympathise with literally every character, even the "villains" of the series. No character is left without development, and all of them are equally f*cked up, in the most realistic way possible. They are all absolute scum, but it's okay, for literally everyone is. Everyone has selfish desires, and this series is just great at displaying a scenario where these desires are what controls the characters.
Overall, I just really love how this series is executed, and each episode leaves me emotionally wrecked for about 2 days. It's relatable, and real in it's presentation. It makes you feel absolutely horrible, but that's the charm, at least for me.

Sorry for the extremely long answer, haha. I probably repeated myself a lot; it was quite a struggle to find the right words to say to express how much I love the series.
I'm curious to learn your opinion of the series too, if you don't mind sharing it. And what is it about traditional romance anime that you love? :)
