| I don't think that rape scene was debatable. I think the symbolism of the ribbon falling and the red ripple was loss of virginity. Kotonoha is completely depressed. Taisuke corners her and says he likes her, doesn't ask to touch her and takes it as consent. The thing is, Taisuke might think that was okay because he's stupid but... I mean if you just corner a girl with a possible bf and just go at it without really talking to her, that's rape. Kotonoha's body language can tell you that much. Kotonoha has already expressed she wasn't interested in him previously, anyway. This would be a different story if she lead him on, though. Even without saying no, if you've ever been with someone, you can tell if someone is reluctant to do something. And if you can't, you ask. Otherwise, you're most likely trying to delude yourself that the other person wants it because you want it that bad. |

| So Makoto FINALLY breaks up with Katsura, and then goes on to not only sleep with Otome again, but also with Setsuna. Though, tbh, the girls are somewhat at fault themselves; throwing themselves at him despite how clear it should be by now what an ass he is. Sekai knows he cheated on Katsura with her, Setsuna knows that he cheated on Sekai with Otome. Still, they kind of expect him to suddenly make a 180 degree personality turn and become faithful (to Sekai). Their love (or rather obsession) with him makes them blind to what an idiot he is. Also, and especially, Katsura, who choose to completely ignore that he cheated on her and that he is avoiding her whenever possible. By no means do I want to apologize Makoto's behavior, but I wish at least one of them would have the pride to see that bastard for what he is and to stay away from him. Setsuna is the only character I like. (I don't dislike Sekai or Katsura, but I'm also not particularly fond of them.) I'm somewhat happy she is leaving now, as nothing good can follow. |

| I stand by what I have said before: Those girls bullying Kotonoha are far worse than Makoto and Sekai. Sekai has a core of good in her, and Makoto is merely callous and uncaring. These girls actively go out of their way to cause harm. Installing that camera would normally be a "Moral Event Horizon" moment, but for these girls it is just business as usual. Yurusenai. These girls are true monsters. They deserve to suffer and be destroyed. Otome deserved to be humiliated, though. She is shit. Sekai deserved to see Makoto having sex with Otome. She deserves to feel what it is like to be cheated on. (I don't hate Sekai; she still has a core of good in her. But she deserves punishment for her part in the crimes against Kotonoha.) Makoto is growing more confident and less fearful: - In episode 8 at around 8:45 he keeps groping Sekai (until she knees him in the balls as punishment). - He forces himself on Otome when she resists. He did something similar to Sekai during the first "practice" session, but that was different. Back then he was caught up in passion and lost control (it was his first time seriously groping a girl). This time he was fully aware of what he was doing: He wanted sex; she resisted; he wasn't going to let that stand. - After the confrontation with Kotonoha and Setsuna, he shakes off Setsuna and walks away. Previously he was too afraid of Setsuna to defy her. Now he doesn't fear her so much anymore, so his anger wins out. - At the end he forcefully hits on Setsuna. He used to be afraid of hitting on girls; now he has grown comfortable with it. Note that this does not invalidate my hypothesis that Makoto has no spine or character. He is still, as always, completely ruled by his base urges: Lust, guilt, fear, laziness and so on. It is merely that the fear in him (which used to be very strong) has weakened, so now he is more dominated by other urges such as lust and anger. He is still saitei. Setsuna... oh, boy. There is something seriously wrong with her. First off, what is with the melodrama? She talks as though she is going to die and must leave a proper legacy. You're just moving; get a grip of yourself! But now that I think of it, I suppose it is not implausible for a teenage girl to view "moving away from a friend" as the end of the world. She is a huge hypocrite. She is obsessed with Sekai and will do "anything" to help her - and then she sneaks in to kiss Makoto and later have sex with him. She somehow rationalizes this as "helping" Sekai. She is a piss-poor judge of character. She wants Makoto to be there for Sekai and support her. Have you MET Makoto, bitch? Makoto is completely untrustworthy. Given how much he wavers around Kotonoha, how easily he lets Otome seduce him and how unwilling he is to commit to Sekai on any level, Setsuna should have realized this. If nothing else, she should have realized it when she kissed Makoto (in front of Kotonoha, no less) and he barely objected at all. Is this really the guy you trust to protect your fragile and precious friend, Setsuna? Mattaku. Setsuna can be seen as a sort of mirror-image of Makoto. Where Makoto is an aimless drifter on the currents of life, Setsuna is a tunnel-visioned fanatic driven by obsessions. She is hysterically protective of Sekai, and she lusts after Makoto. Like Makoto, however, she has no real morals and is perfectly willing to sacrifice others (mostly Kotonoha) to satisfy her desires. She is a subhuman freak. Kotonoha.. Oh my god. Poor, poor Kotonoha. She is so deep in denial. She deserves so much better. I so badly want to hug her and rescue her. Mamoritai... |

| Back after a one month break from this mind fucking anime and a lot was in store for me in this episode. I just can't fathom the shit that happened in this episode. Katsura is now past her breaking point. That school festival night plus (finally) Makato actually clearly telling Katsura that he's breaking up plus seeing Makoto being with both Sekai and now Kiyoura was just too much for her. Legit feel bad for her. Her eyes at the end of the episode tell a lot. She used to be such a happy cheerful girl. F. How all these girls are falling for him is the biggest mystery of this universe. I'm conflicted as to how to take that Kiyoura and Makoto scene. Did she do that for Sekai or herself? Just when I thought this anime couldn't get more fucked up, the projector part happened and it genuinely made me question everything. I couldn't believe my eyes, those kids should fucking go to jail for this shit. Every student of that school is fucked in the head. At the end, the things happening in this anime are simple but the directing and execution leaves a big impact. It needs to be prasied for all these emotions this anime is making us feel. |

| Incredible episode. No one is getting out of this highschool unscathed lol. Really waiting to see how squeaky clean Makoto gets out of this or if he'll get his just reward for playing with so many lives. Good on Kotonoha for not letting that event with Taisuke consume her. She became a woman in an unfavorable way, but she was able to rightly put it past herself and move on with her life. Oh until she sees another girl kiss Makoto. Now she's broken. Ah, too bad. You know what Kotonoha's biggest disadvantage was? She's playing a solo party in a highschool girl meta!! That's why she keeps getting ganked by Otome's full squad in the halls, and why even Setsuna was able to OHKO her by taking an instant alliance with Sekai while doing inter-relationship combat over Makoto. The highschool girl meta is a brutal place if you don't have friends to party up! (Yes, high school was basically a social version of Dark and Darker.)  |
