Taiki definitely picked that guy on a whim, as Youka seemed to be implying to Youko, in her storytelling. I wonder how Kaname/Taiki ends up back in Hourai, though... It will be interesting to see how it all connects, and how it turns out. Great episode, anyway. Black Kirin (plural = Kirins? | Hmm I don't think he chose the wrong person. His kirin instinct was working the whole time, he just didn't know what it was. And it's probably his instincts, not his desire to keep Sou close, that made him go after him and that let him to finally be able to transform. |

New characters introduced (holy shit GYOUSOU IS KEWL), new beasts, awesome fucking Toutetsu (just that name holy GOD), and finally Kouri's metamorphosis and the choosing of the wrong guy. Jesus Fucking Hell, you're in for fucking hell indeed Kouri. You done fucked it up. |
| His transformation was lovely. I really enjoyed this episode, it actually had me on edge there for a bit especially with that intense stare down... holy crap. The first part of this 'arc' was somewhat frustrating- just witnessing this boy who couldn't do anything right but I have to say that he has definitely has grown on me. |

As you've said his Kirin instincts were working the whole time. He just didn't understand what they meant. The 'fear' he felt in the previous episode wasn't actually fear, but the 'revelation' that he had found his king. |

| While I'm very much enjoying this anime, I can't help but feel like this second arc is dragging out for too long. I really want it to go back to the main character, not spend 5+ episodes showing a different character's backstory. Hopefully this whole arc is not wasted and ends up being beneficial to the overall story. |

| What a cool episode that was. I suppose Taiki leaves to go home of his own accord very soon. Wonder what happens to Gyousou? I assume he dies as Tai is without ruler in the present... |

I don't know why taiki did such a thing, but things are getting more and more interesting.
| @resulavman Insecurity. Basically, he didn't understand his role as a Kirin. He couldn't transform or control a simple rabbit. So he felt like he wasn't a proper Kirin, that he was doing something wrong. So when he hears gossiping about "why isn't Gyousou king? He'd be the perfect choice!", he felt compelled to pick him. |
| This is gonna be really sad, im calling it. I can see some thematic paralels with the main story here too. |
