That's a solid reason to switch sides.

"My best friends are being held hostage and might get shot if I don't help."
"The ship I'm is probably going to get blown up, either by my own side during the attack or by the people that own it to hide all of the illegal technology onboard."
"I was brought to this ship specifically to find out more about my Gundam and I can't do that if it gets destroyed and everyone who knows anything about it is killed."
"I know that both sides have their reasons for fighting and I want to avoid needless slaughter."
"When I tried to explain what was going on a fight broke out around me and I had to fight for survival."
Yeah Bellri had no good reason to be in that fight, obviously.

The scene where Dellensen was morning was also pretty terrible and I hope that was CR not translating it very well. The dude's dialogue was like he was talking to someone rather than mourning by himself.

ok so there is a reason why their science and technology is not advance enough for their timeline, science is taboo might be because science advancement lead to more powerful weapons of war

Not a bad episode. The show does feel a bit odd though. Just the way Bell switched sides after this first battle. I feel like it's just more story that we need to see the whole picture.

Good episode. Seems like Bell will fight against the Capital Army next episode. I am wondering what that yellow thing is that comes from the G-Self.

I wonder as well though I feel like it connects them to G-self since both him and Aida felt that pain and placed their hands where the necklace was (assuming in his case though).

I just can't wrap my head around where in the Time Line calender of gundam this takes place. I could have sworn this took place post-UC but this makes me wonder where AD fits in, since my screenshot implies (according to the translators) that this also takes place after Gundam 00 time line.

Isn't Gundam 00 just a spin-off? Disconnected from the rest of the series?

AD ended around 2145 and became the Universal Century (debatable as it's never been clearly stated when the calendar changed but this makes more sense than 2045 due to the technology needed for the colonies). I don't know when UC ended but I assume it wouldn't have been too long after Victory Gundam in UC153 given how screwed up everything was thanks to the Zanscare Empire. UC became Regild Century and 1014 years later we have G no Reconguista. RC would have finished when a bunch of numpty's built the Turn A and Turn X Gundam's and used the Moonlit Butterfly to destroy all technology, reducing mankind to cave men again. 10 000 years later we have the Correct Century and Turn A Gundam.

Towards the end of Turn A it does show clips linking G Gundam, Wing and After War X's time lines into the Universal Century and I know that SEED's Cosmic Era got retconned into the Black History in 2005 as well. Firstly, I think this was a mistake on Tomino's part given the notable differences between the various series and secondly, the very existence of G-Reco is somewhat contradictory to it. Personally I just ignore that and follow the timeline I detailed above and consider all other Gundam series (G, Wing, After War, Seed, 00 and AGE) to be alternate universes.

yeah true that dialogue at the end was kind of stiff(though i do generally just like that they gave them names and recognittion of their deaths rather than being nameless explosions), but compared to the mess that was episode 1 and 3's script this episode was like watching an entirely different show quality wise.

maybe because of breaking technology taboo in this episode, there will be a big war in g-reco. and because of that, there is someone who hates technology and ended up creating Turn A and X to destroy all of it and back to the peaceful day.

G-Savior is actually UC canon, unfortunately. So technically, if you really want to know all of UC, you need to watch it too, but I wouldn't recommend it.

It is but there's a part in Turn A where it says that every Gundam happens in the same universe, even when it would make no sense for that to be the case.
So Turn A fans try to fit everything into one long complicated timeline where history resets every few centuries.
It gets even more complicated with things like 00 and Build Fighters, which are both supposed to be set in our world.

Doesn't really say it now does it? You just get to see some old footage of the "black History" which happens to include clips from the spinoff series.
The only sensible thing is to brush those off as quirky homages. In the end, they did unearth Zaku IIs in the series so if it is supposed to be related to any series, it has to be UC.

I think the issue may actually be CR because a lot of the shows im watching that finished last season and and the currently airing season subs have been pretty bad, and I've been noticing a few groups commenting and editing their subs. A recent case would be F/SN: UBW where the group UTW heavily edited their subs, and that their was a comparison to what was edited.
I wish another group picked it up but we're stuck with CR/HS

Hasn't been explained yet. It's supposed to be a mysterious power that they'll figure out later. It's been hinted that the G-Self has some AI that thinks for itself, so the AI probably activated it.

Bellri on the outside of his youth and casualness is certainly more perceptive than he seems. There's also a some street smart quality about him, that he knows when to play dumb and when to butter up. He is pretty interesting and different in that regard.

Because he is the only other person that could start the G-self thing. They spent like 10 mins of the white hair dude complaining about that. Apparently the justification was that they didn't give him a pilot suit so he couldn't "do anything crazy".

They did, it looks likes tomino is trying to draw parallels to the JSDF (through the capital guard) and trying to show why they shouldn't have a standing army or something.. that's just a guess though.

How tv series genre mecha, will have flaws and not being a fan of Gundam I can not even say what specifically, but as the first series that I take after so many years of absence in this brand, the TV series I is not disappointing so much .
The narrative is a little confusing, but I felt some involvement during the battle. The drawings and animations look good and so does the Color Design I love it.
The Character Design used then I love it so well as the fact that you have not used the CG for the robot!
The opening and ending are nice and I really like the OST.

except she at leats had a small resemblance of logic in her shoes, to us the viewer shes a retard and in the show she still kind of is one but theres some veign resemblances of logic there that somewhat justifying her actions, if i found out i had a heritage that connects me with royalty controlling the enemy empire and have actual power in said royalty id try to join them and end the war using said power, id just do it in a less get everyone around me killed kind of execution, her motivation at least had a goal with actual benefits if she went about it more properly

on the flip side what do these pirates have? like can i just remind everyone AIDA CAN CONTROL THE FUCKING GUNDAM but they still give it to berril and them proceed to arm him with weapons, there isnt even a hint of logic here

I still don't know what's going on O___O

Okay first off, i really am enjoying the animation and arstyle. Even though during the first episode it was different, but i have gotten used to it.

First off, so Zenam suddenly fights for the pirates out of nowhere!?! Raraiya talks like a normal girl, yet acts like a kid from time to time???

I also love how when Zenam and Aida are in a pinch, the scene slows down where they think what action they must do, just like the old Gundam UC :P

Wtf did he pulled that Zeta Gundam turning red :P

Now all of a sudden something is coming from space, So Zenam mentions he's Aida Surugan who's probably a popular person, but now he just realized it was her??

Still at least the fights are getting better. I just wish Tomino and his team would slowly introduce the world of Recongnista instead of throwing the plot all over the place.

Can't wait for the next episode.

Or, this is because Tomino's dialogue is very verbose and the translators didn't nail his intended meaning.
Yeah the characters in Reconguista in G mention AD era, but they don't mean the universe Gundam 00 takes place in but the AD era that proceeds Universal Century. Laplace blew up when AD ended and UC started, you see that in Gundam Unicorn.

Tomino's works have always been like this. Some actions may seem nonsensical because he doesnt explain everything to you like other animes right away. The reason they are letting him pilot the g-self obviously is because HE HAS THE ABILITY. he is one of only 3 people with the ability to pilot it so obviously they are interested why only these 3 people can pilot it and not a "genius" like klim. Also they aren't even really pirates. You people dont even give the show time to explain shit or think out of the box about what is actually occurring.

You ever think that maybe everyone is worried about the threat from outer space so they need as many pilots that can use G type mechas like G self and Arcane as possible for the upcoming space war?

You ever think maybe capital army isn't quite the good guys and maybe the crew of the "pirate ship" and bellri know this deep down and hence why they are starting to somewhat work together?

Its obvious to me Bellri will end up a regular crew member of this red ship, thats how almost all Gundams go.

If you have even seen victory you should be used to Tomino's works by now, you either like them or you don't , if you don't why are you even watching?

This show is most likely the last anime Tomino will ever work on, it is a love letter to his work and his style, so if you have seen Tomino's previous works and enjoyed them you should respect Tomino and give this a shot and not bitch about not knowing everything by episode 4.

you people just bash on shit when its only 4 episodes in without even giviing it a chance to explore the world or explain anything. Stop being so impatient.

Seems quite insane to come up with all this BS trying to put down the writing of this show when IMO it seems your not even trying to comprehend it or think outside of the box on whats going on, your just trying to bash it with anything you can think of for no reason really.

Damn, things are starting to get interesting! But i still can't learn to like the setting. They have giant fighting mechas yet all the buildings are somewhat medieval.

The action scene was great, it feels like the Gundam I'm used to. That and the story starting up raises my interest of the series.

Aida as good looking as always~

Also gundam has always been like this. I feel like these are people who have never seen another gundam trying to diss the gundam tropes.

Do you even realize early gundams had giant robots and then the war rooms/ communication centers looked WORLD WAR 2 STYLE.... you would have giant mechas battling in space then they would show the control room and it would have a 50's style giant tape recording machine in it...

why did the zeons outfits look like nazi outfits or war outfits from world war one?

This is GUNDAM.

this is just how gundam is, especially tomino gundam.

The "official" explanation is that the advance in technology in the gundam universe (Minovsky particles and stuff), led to war regressing , the reason giant robots are even feasible is because of the minovsky particles negating using technology to track armies/units making close combat necessary, fleets cant really track other fleets except in extreme situations, they have to resort to close quarters/ mid range combat with mobile suits because of the technology that exists in the gundam universe. there is logical reasons why gundam war technology works this way.

Wonder if Bellri will just be a Newtype or maybe they'll bring something else to the table. So far it seems like Newtype reaction.

The battle was ok, Bellri still didn't join the pirates officially, as he didn't fight, aside from the end where he was pretty much forced to disable the enemies' weapons or else he'd die. Really curious about the future turn of events, and more reasoning why one side is supposed to be bad and the other not.

Nice episode. So Colonel Cumpa really let the G-Self be stolen and the kids taken so he has an excuse to mobilize his newly formed army.
Bellri also had pretty reasonable reasons to help protect the Megafauna, and would have managed to communicate with Dellensen if not for Klim's interference. He definitely did not yet switch sides as some said.

And a threat from space, huh? This gives me Turn A vibes, it's similar to how they talked about the Moonrace early in that series.

One thing I'm noticing is that the battles manage to keep tension going with the sound effects, animation and color changes, even if there's nothing much happening. It does have a very "old school" feel to how the action is directed so it won't be everybody's cup of tea.
I'm also liking how they chose to showcase damage: instead of the mobile suits simply exploding in a cloud of pink smoke, we see parts melting, being torn apart and so on. It's pretty satisfying to see a suit get a hole blown through it and not go boom like it was made of explosives.

The really interesting part to me was that line about a taboo against scientific progress. Just a little quip, but I hope it becomes a major plot point of this series. The idea that scientific advancement led to disaster so much that everyone generally agrees that they're better off without it is fascinating. Tomino isn't the most subtle writer unfortunately, so I doubt he'll really be able to explore this idea the way I'm hoping for.

Another calm episode where you learn through behaviour and dialogues. With the mandatory action segment (shorter though?)

Wonder what everyone's problem with Bellri is...

4/5 "You want to watch more of it, don't you?"

What was it? I checked three times (the transition from the hug to the elevation) without noticing a thing.

@Pullman Thanks (and sorry for the disturbance).

probably something they fixed for the BDs if you didn't notice anything. These big glitches are usually from the TV version that first aired. It'd be sad if they didn't even fix them for the BD release.
I probably regret this post by now.

A character named Adam Smith is a new level of Tomino's names xD

Beam Lasso is a funny invention, huh. And the Javelin has some unexpected capabilities (disassembly?). I might've seen an animation mistake involving it but I'm not sure (present after piercing the Catsith, absent during Klim's kick). In any case, the pacing is still fine and I'm still enjoying the show.

About the ED song. It contains the same lines we heard in the toilet melody and the comment of its maker in episode 3. Searched a bit and it seems Tomino has composed the song himself, according to YT users. Could someone confirm it? :)

Don't see any connection with the "toilet melody", but Tomino wrote the lyrics for this ED song indeed (for some reason ANN lists only one ED for G-Reco, but credits Tomino for ED1, as if there're more). He also played some character in ep. 26, apparently.

As for the "toilet melody", it looks like the staff behind it is the same (including Tomino)

Good episode, the plot is starting to develop, i wonder what's going to arrive from space, maybe the turn X? (I'm joking)
I don't like klim a lot,i think he will become very annoying in the next episodes.
