yyyyyyeah, sorry yue, but i'm calling bullshit on that excuse. i'm sure it's just a crappy deus ex machina to get syaoran out of liking two people at once (yue just... appearing? with no reason to? can he do that now?? AT A SCHOOL????), but if sakura doesn't get the same lecture when she starts moving on from her crush, i'm going to be sad. their crushes on yukito were nearly identical; syaoran downright COPIED sakura in trying to get yukito's attention. and didn't she say in an earlier episode that it was love at first sight? just like it was for syaoran??
basically, there's no reason why the kid with the gay crush should have his crush explained away, but the kid with the straight crush shouldn't. except homophobia, oops! for a show that seems to be pretty queer-friendly, this part really let me down.

This part had me laughing a lot. This was the dumbest way to end a love triangle. This is dumber than the stories that end love triangles with a character dying.
Looks like they really have no clue what to do with the third season. It feels so forced and unneeded, badly written on top of it.
I don't want to come off as rude or anything, but I'd like to clarify some things first. I know this is really old though, but still I just want to say this xD
Fist of all; Neither Shaoran OR Sakura truly loved Yukito. BOTH of them were attracted to his magical powers in the first place (well, in Sakura's case, she truly did have a crush on him mainly because of his powers first, and also because of the "father figure" thing). Second of all. There's no such thing as "love at first sight". Love takes work and time, which is what happened to Shaoran and Sakura's relationship. By the way, Shaoran is like 10 years old. I think calling a 10 year old "gay", at such a young age with no experience of anything isn't right (i'm not saying that being gay is wrong AT ALL, i'm saying that, he's just way too young to be claimed "gay", "bisexual", or "straight"). And by the way, CLAMP doesnt give a single fuck about gender or age, if you had at least read some of CLAMP's works you should know that they support these kind of relationships. Tomoyo is a lesbian, and Yukito and Touya are OBVIOUSLY in a relationship, so how could you say that this is "homophobic"? Then the fact that Sakura was attracted to Mizuki cause of her powers must be some "homophobic" excuse too, right? Don't forget that the main theme in this anime is magic. Of course it doesn't have any logic at all, 'cause it's, hello, MAGIC ?? This episode is my least favourite of all though, because in the manga (you should totally read it btw its amazing) they explain all this WAY better, and WAY earlier.

Shaoran's affection to both Yukito and Sakura are also very different.
With Yukito, it's admiration. His affection towards him is in a "Notice me senpai" way LOL. He offers him chocolates, he says compliments to him, and he praises him. Sort of an IDOL kind of way. Also, in episode 27 he says "people with the same kind of powers are attracted to eachother". He draws his powers from the moon, just like Yue, and he dislikes Kero's presence because he has sun powers (that may sound "silly" or whatever, but again, its magic we're talking about).
With Sakura, its very different. She confuses him a lot, that's why, when she smiles at him, he blushes and BEFORE he realised he loved her, he always shaked his head as if he was denying his love for her. He cares about her, but he denies that too. In a lot of episodes (30, 36, 37 & 38 come to mind), when he sees that she's sad, sick, or whatever, his mood changes completely. Has he EVER cared about Yukito in any sort of way? I don't think so. Love just grows stronger, while attraction fades over time (aka, what exactly happened to him in CCS). Let me point out as well that, Shaoran is completely tsundere, and tsundere characters, ALWAYS react the same way with the person they love the most. For example, in episode 37, when Shaoran sees Sakura sad: "I was a little worried about you *suddenly blushes* I-I thought maybe you found a clow card or something, that's all, okay?". However, with Yukito that didnt happen at all. Tsundere characters are supposed to be this way.
CLAMP also said in an interview that if Shaoran were a girl or simply was a bit older than her, they would've still ended up together.
Again, I dont wanna come off as rude (I've written WAY too much anyways haha) but I get kind of pissed off when people say the Yue thing was "an excuse" when it was implied from very early that this was the reason (specially in the manga). The scene in ep 51 was also way sweeter in the manga anyways http://mangafox.me/manga/cardcaptor_sakura/v08/c000/23.html |
