Also if you do pick up Sailor Moon again, I'd love to hear your thoughts as you continue watching. Glad to hear you've enjoyed it so far!
And yeah you hit the nail on the head with the sailor moon filler and mahou shoujo filler in general. I skipped a decent number of cardcaptor sakura filler episodes for similar reasons you described about sailor moon. I think there are some filler guides that explain which are filler episodes worth it and which aren't, but that also may be too much of a hassle to keep up with, so no need to check out the sailor moon if you aren't interested or have nostalgia for it
I also see Nichijou as the "evolved" version of Azumanga Daioh, but both are still good in their own ways. I'll have to check out yuru yuri then, seems like it would be right up my alley if it's similar to the both of those
Yeah that's totally understandable about k-on! I think what made the series so special for me is that a friend showed it to me when I was first getting into anime, so I think those memories have a really positive influence on my opinion. I also agree that the 2nd season is better overall, but I'd be interested to hear what you think of it if you decide to pick it up again
I've been wanting to watch precure for a while now, but I don't have the best idea of where to start. Is Yes! PreCure 5 a good place to start, or would it be better to watch it all in order?
As for my recommendations, I'll try and recommend a few titles that aren't in your "currently watching" if that's alright!
Kaguya-sama: A phenomenal romcom that is more com than rom. I'm personally not a huge fan of the romance elements (at least not in the first season), but this is a pretty good comedy that you might enjoy
Fruits Basket (2019): The first half of season 1 starts out slow, but this became my favorite romance/drama anime by the season 3 finale. I see you are planning to watch the original series, but this newer remake covers the entire story as told in the manga. Highly recommend it!
Sailor Moon Eternal & Sailor Moon Stars: If you enjoyed watching the series so far, and would like to continue, I'd recommend skipping Sailor Moon SuperS and watching the Eternal movies instead. It does a much better job of adapting that manga arc, and the filler episodes presented in SuperS are generally not as good as filler episodes from previous seasons (plus it'll save you a lot of time!!). Stars is the adaptation of the final arc, and I personally enjoyed it a lot. However, they apparently changed a lot from the manga, and the upcoming movie Sailor Moon Cosmos might be a better adaptation, but we will have to wait and see...
I'd also recommend that you keep watching nichijou and k-on if you get the chance! But no pressure or anything. Definitely feel free to watch what you enjoy :)
I'll let you know if I think of any other recommendations, and feel free to let me know if you have any others as well!
