| 1 - Yang Wenli - (Goes without saying) 2 - Oscar von Reuenthal - (Pulls a fucking piece of metal out of himself and orders his subordinate to stop screaming) 3 - Reinhard von Lohengramm - (The personality who defined an era) 4 - Wolfgang Mittrmeyer - (A straight shooter all the way) 5- Paul von Oberstein - (I hated him at the start but grew to understand his ways) on a sidenote Greenhill > Hida - although they were both great ! I disliked Julian as he was content living in Yang's shadow - yes he learned a lot over the course of the series but his attitude bothered me, also Schenkopp's daughter bothered me too - she was introduced rather late and was quite 2 dimensional in comparison to everyone else at the time - although I guess both she and Julian made a good couple because they were both a bit boring. |
| The top spot is tied between Yang and Reinhard - you can't make me choose. Early on, though, Yang was my favourite, then it slowly gravitated towards Reinhard. Then it just kept oscillating between the two. The things this series does to me. Reuenthal is a very close second. He's so complex and fascinating, he makes me want to tear apart all his layers just so I can get a glimpse of his psyche. I adore Kircheis as well, his heart is clearly made of gold; too little screentime, unfortunately. Mittermeyer and Bittenfeld get honourable mentions. In fact, I think I can fill up my entire favourite character list with just people from LoGH. |

| My favourite would have to be Oskar von Reuenthal. I love how the character is portrayed throughout the story. I even cosplayed as him ^^ I also loved Alexander Bucock and Dusty Attemborough. Dawmn, they were awsome! |

| Reinhard and Oskar. Add Mittermeyer 3rd. I liked all of Reinhard's fleet Admirals. In general there were far more characters I liked in the Empires side. I found the FPA a nuisance and was hoping they'd lose every battle. I did like Yang as a contrast to Reinhard and the first time they met I couldn't stop smiling. One of the best moments ever. I also liked Julian, especially toward the end. Other than that, there weren't many characters I liked in the FPA. |

| Well if we are doing a top 5 1. Yang Wenli I really related to this guy a lot easily the best character in the show and I had to add him to my main favorite character list (lol sorry Hohenheim). 2. Julian Minci I think he was more of a guardian towards Yang when it came to his personal life. xD 3. Oskar von Reunthal Norio Wakamoto + heterochromia ftw! 4. Wolfgang Mittermeyer 5. | Hmm my picks seems to be the most common ones. Though I really can't deny that my favorite characters from this series (and of all anime, at that) are Yang Wenli and Reinhard von Lohengramm. If I had to pick between the two, I'm leaning towards Yang Wenli. By the way, there seems to be a lack of Attenborough and Bucock love here. The Imperial Admirals are getting all the attention. |

| My top list after watching the entire series in 2009: Now, in 2016 my list is slightly different: 1. Oskar von Reuenthal - I love this man. It's a pity he was defeated but he died victorious. Chapeau bas! He was very classy, intelligent, ambitious and charismatic. His gothic appearance and heterochromatic were mesmerizing for me. Not to mention the great voice of Norio Wakamoto. <3 2. Yang Wen-li - I still like him very much because I'm similar to him. I love history, tea and I'm also very laaazy. ;) 3. Hildegarde von Mariendorf. I'd like to be like her. : As a very strong-willed and smart woman she even excelled Reinhard and his minions in mind games/politics. 4. Wolfgang Mittermeyer. A nice man and ideal husband. ;) I like him because of his "normality" and his unusual friendship with Reuenthal. 5. Paul von Oberstein. The living and very machiavellian "raison d'etat". His fidelity to the Kaiser and the State has to be praised. ;) Yet, I can't forgive him scheming against Reuenthal. |
