---------------------------------------- I'm starting to like having 2 consecutive Gosick OP single commercials in a row now. And I do not approve of the fairy in the book. >_>
Funny hearing Kazuya imitate Grevil.
Omnomnom.
And I knew something was fishy about Avril, but I didn't expect it do be someone else tbh. ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌
On and I'm so looking forward to seeing Victorique in a turban next week.
Late realization: Where'd Kujo's fighting skills go?

Protip: I don't really check the forums anymore, so if you want something, take it on my profile.
Is it time for my long-awaited return to the forums? щ(゚Д゚щ) Nope™, probably not.
I knew that girl was the killer, I didn't know she was the fake Avril, glad Victorica gave what this fake deserved. The real Avril is so cute though and eats a lot.
Note for Kazuya: Take a page out of Touma next time when dealing with killer females.
Hoppy said: I knew that girl was the killer, I didn't know she was the fake Avril, glad Victorica gave what this fake deserved. The real Avril is so cute though and eats a lot.
But she wasn't the killer. She just tried to take over Avril's life to get the Penny Black money. The real killer was arrested last episode.
There was not rolling on the floor victoriqa boring moments. :( i got bored. last blushing scene were really cute. Victorqia with princess hat? looking forward to next episode.
Okay, it was obvious someone's a fake after the phantom thief was mentioned, but I actually thought it'd be the Inspector Grevil - since he was, as Kujou noticed, oddly serious.
Man, I love Megane-sensei.
And I loved how Avril merged the end of the word "daijoubu" with "nom".
So who cares about the mysteries? Let's just have more scenes of Victorique throwing books on people! I figured Victorique was going to pop out of wherever she was hiding to protect Kujo, but I didn't expect a pile of books to be her method of attack. That was great. :D
And I'm glad she thought that treat Kujo brought her looked like dog crap, because that's the first thing I thought of too.. o.O
Out of all the places she could choose to hide in that garden, she chose the cupboard? Come on, Victorique, that's the first place someone would look! I thought she'd be up on some ceiling beam, to be honest. Or a secret passage way in one of the book shelves.

Perhaps it could be locked from the inside lol.
Next episode looks interesting, Victorica styling it up it seems!
So Kujo might've found a friend in the real Avril? One who doesn't constantly talk him down, lol. And yes, Victorique's hiding place was remarkably obvious. That would seriously be the first place anyone would look if they came to look for something in that garden.
Avril is actually a pretty interesting character i wonder how she well be involved more if she is gonna be part of the crew
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
The mystery was over too quickly and after they found the postcard in the book it was easy to tell that Avril was the criminal. However I thought that there might be another explanation since she appears on the OP, meaning that she would appear regularly.
Anyway, this episode served to strengthen the relationship between our two main characters.
So who cares about the mysteries? Let's just have more scenes of Victorique throwing books on people!
...this anime is bad for that exact reason. Too bad I was expecting the mysteries to be interesting and actually matter, though it's obviously not like that.
Hell, maybe they will get better in the future... but wake me up when we get there.
damn this anime so good. I was expecting everything except for the fake avril, that i didnt see. I love the endings , they make it blend so well and you just have that nice good feeling at the end of the episode.
Well at first I thought Avril was the killer, for some reason (even came up with a back story of what happened) but the first mystery was to confuse us wasn't it (they did very good.. xD)
anyways, I somehow knew Avril was bad, she seemed suspicious oh so very suspicious, somehow I suspected a cup board, when she wasn't around since she happened to pop up right there, anyways onto the cute scenes
The real Avril is cute~ ♥
Victorique(Victorica) blushing is adorable xD (somehow, she might teach me how to count in french lol)

The Mysteries are indeed easy to solve i thought the ones in the first arc where allot harder to figure out.
This arc however was very predictable.
I agree with Lilia that watching Victorique makes is worth it tho she is really cute.
Kujo needs to use his brains a bit more he is relying on Victorique for everything even to help him fight girls...
The real Avril seems like a interesting person and i wonder what she will bring to this Anime.
That the impostor was the criminal was obvious from the start but why did she cling towards Kujo, was that because she took the ghost story's to her advantage.
And what do Japanese have with phantom thieves i lived in Europe all my life and never heard any story's about a phantom thief that wasn't of Japanese origin.
ClementIV said: The mystery was over too quickly and after they found the postcard in the book it was easy to tell that Avril was the criminal. However I thought that there might be another explanation since she appears on the OP, meaning that she would appear regularly.
I think the real Avril will be appearing regularly from here on out.
And like a lot of other people have said, the mysteries are a little disappointing.
lol, this ep was great, made me like 'em more than the previous one
hope we'll be seeing a lot of the real avril in the future eps xD
and as always victorique............. :P soo cute
Decent episode. Many parts of the mystery were painfully obvious, but I doubt that most people had all of it figured out. I certainly didn't. Victorique remains the main reason why this show is fun to watch. Kujo was kinda lame in this story, but he really is a good friend.
WHY the heck people point that the "Fake" Avril is the culprit at the start of this arc?
SHE is only a thief... The injury on her hand was caused by the real Avril as she bit her not from the wire... Predictable my ASS... I wasn't even expecting of a double until they introduce the thief in this episode... Reminds me of Kaito Kid that's why someone should be in disguise xDD
Can you guys tell me which part is easy or obvious to you?
PS: I just realized that there's an english lyrics in the ED xDD
Throwing the books at fake Avril, her stash of candy and books in her hiding cabinet, and when she blushed because Kujo asked her why she didn't hide when he came up.
Ahhh I love her so much!
Oh and I wasn't expecting fake Avril to be impersonating real Avril. That was a good twist.

Agreed. I thought the mysteries so far were pretty good, and I did not have the whole mystery figured out, like many people claim they did. Also, I love Victorica, she is so damn cute!

the best I can guess is the motorbike wire trick.Other than that, I am blank. I don't even know who is the culprit for the killing of biker after I watch this episode.
The fake Avril was a good twist, but the cabinet was so obvious. Victorica's blushing moment with Kujou FTW!

The girl arrested for the crime in episode 4 actually did it.
Best show this season. I am loving everything so far, from the mystery, to Victorique, to the music.
Also, I agree with the people who claims that everyone who claims the mystery is so obvious are BS'ing. It's very easy to say the mystery was easy AFTER seeing the solution. Just go back to previous threads to see how off some people's "predictions" were.
The only thing that you can argue about is that it's slightly unbelievable that Victorique can figure everything out by pure logic, without having to be there at the crime scene, investigate evidence, or w/e.
Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.
so basically the first case is used for "red herring". it really is solved in the 4th episode, with the fact that we don't know anything about the victim and the name and the motive of the culprit, the suspicion has focused on Avril (Fake Avril) with the fact that she arrived immediately after the case has been solved in the school and has a wounded finger, blonde hair, (characteristics of the biker incident culprit) and she's getting close to Kujo, for a reason because he saw her do the crime? but that has been put to halt this episode because she really is connected but with the Mummy Knight case (just connected but she really have nothing to do with it), and her wounded fingers is cause by Avril biting her hands off that may have rend some flesh.
after this episode, even though it still not finished, GOSICK has been justified to really be my 3rd favorite and best anime. i really like how they finished each arc showing the relationship bet our main characters deepen.
Simplistic beauty can't be appreciated by someone who looks for something grand in everything he watch.
and music of this anime is "GODLY" and "CLASSY", i really really like it, even the soundtrack of Madoka Magica can't even match it up but Kajiura Yuki is still one of my favorites. ^^
looks like next episode we get to see our first main antagonist? shown in the OP sequence, "the red haired magician".

and i totally agree with this, the fact that the people out here are so PROUD OF THEMSELVES saying that Avril is the culprit of the biker incident because it's just too OBVIOUS in the last episode thread, it's called red herring dudes, and those who have spouted "oh Avril definitely is the killer" will be put to misery this episode thinking that they are so good that they can see anything, "PREDICTABLE MY ASS" and the Fake Avril "didn't kill anyone", her crimes are definitely associated with her being the Phantom Thief and she hid the real Avril. ^^
edit: merged posts.

I found it hilarious that Victorique hides from anyone she doesn't know. A trio team with Avril would be pretty cool. Though I'm sure Victorique wouldn't want her around.
Iisan-kun said: I took the mystery seriously in the second episode, and proposed a solid and interesting theory, which was closer to which you would find in a mystery novel. The reason I didn't want to think it was the man or the women because it was horribly cliche, and frankly, too easy.
(You could easily tell the child in the flashback and her were related in some way, thus making it too easy. Also, all the hints at the very beginning pointed to it obviously being her. Too freakin' easy.)
In the end, it turns out my theory was false due to an animation failure. Go figure.
In episode 4, there was the trip wire murder. I got that right away, the only thing I didn't get was that the culprit was a blonde women. Did it best me? Hell no, you'd never find something on the level of bullshit as "You noticed it in your subconscious, so we can have an arrest based on that" in a mystery novel.
As for the rest of episode 4, I was still kinda pissed. I thought of a single way the man could've gotten in there and died like that, but I just ignored all the stuff about the girl's funeral because I frankly didn't care.
(I was more interested in the book an Avril the time, to be honest.)
In this episode, I didn't take it seriously at all. I stopped caring when Victorique found the book using simply intuition and guessing. Sure, I didn't get "She's an imposter!", but it honestly wouldn't even matter in the end, because the 'mystery' was just plain boring. Also, Victorique basically guessed on the imposter thing too.
So what? Sure I didn't get absolutely every detail... but that honestly doesn't make it any better. I guess reading and theorizing about elaborate closed rooms and such has just left me bored with this second-rate crap.
Face it guys, this isn't much of a mystery.
second-rate crap our ass,
the fact is "it isn't awesome for thing you so called mystery, it's also the Characters, sorry dude, your mind as been used enough that's why you can't think for things in here,
oh and animation failure?
"In the end, it turns out my theory was false due to an animation failure. Go figure.
"
there really is no animation failure, you're just too PROUD of your so called theory that you're kinda pissed at how the "RED HERRING" trick works on you.
the FIRST CASE is already solved at episode 4 and have definitely no link to what happened in the latter half of episode 4 and the whole episode 5.
you can't understand it don't you?
and the culprit is captured by three things Victorica have spouted.
-the culprit is a girl(woman) with blonde hair
-the culprit has wound in her hands, cut fingers
-and the last most important thing, she suggested to check surgical hospitals,
looking back at the blood at wire, it's not just an ordinary wound it's a cut, so basically, you need to have it operated, and if you have ever learned of STATISTICS, those three things narrowed than possible suspects and led to the arrest of a girl with those descriptions. and what is stated in the newspaper?
the girl did not said anything about her motive, it's not that the girl tried to state she's not guilty. and so the case is finished. the fact that they did not tell the name of the culprit and the victim is not of our concern since were not the police. IT LED TO YOU DISMAY also cause they only show you the face of the culprit and have fell to the effects of Red Herring. such a shame my friend your mind has deteriorated. ^^

Victorique was good as always and the teacher was decent as well.
I was ready to rip into Kuju who by the end of the episode was hoping he was killed off. As his character seemed to do a complete 180 from the previous arc. I mean come on, all those people on the boat saw her, but yet NOW he's questioning whether or not she is real? That is until I seen someone explain the reasons why that was. Not too bright whoever worked things out like that.
The issues with Kujo's characterization between eps. 1-3 and eps. 4-5 may perhaps be explained by the fact that the first arc was from the first novel and the second arc was taken from the manga. Different medium = different character tropes. And while "wouldn't hit a girl" definitely suits Kazuya to a T, particularly for the time period, if he was going to be that stupid, then I'd wished he'd have at least thought it so we'd know why he was being foolish.
The novel/manga thing, I think, explains the most silly point, which is Kazuya wigging out about Kurairan's suggestion that Victorique wasn't real (since she kept vanishing from the library). I mean, after the boat episode where Victorique left the school, interacted with all the people on the Queen Berry, talked with various police officials on the arrest, etc., etc., it should be mind-numbingly obvious to him that Victorique is a real person. But in the manga, this is the first plot arc, in which Kazuya only just met Victorique and has never seen her outside the library, so the idea of her being a spirit/fairy/ghost/whatever makes more sense in that respect.
This ties in with my other idea about Kazuya's sudden "wuss moment"--that he was so shocked and taken aback by Kurairan's suggestion about Victorique that he couldn't react well. After all, here's a lonely kid, thousands of miles from home in an alien culture, shunned by many classmates, steeped in an atmosphere of ghosts and murder, who finds that one of his two only friends isn't what she claimed to be but is instead a villain, and is at the same time suggesting that his other friend isn't real either! Ergo, Kazuya goes into a fugue state (remember, stupid as that might sound, he's just a teenaged boy) and can't effectively fight back the way he could on the ship. And that makes a lot more sense if he doesn't have the background with Victorique from the first arc.
This is the first time that I really disliked some of the mystery-solving. In previous instances, Victorique's deductions were very Sherlock Holmesian--observation of trifling details and deducing possible interpretations from them, which are then proven to be correct because she's the main character (seriously, compare them to some of what Holmes deduces in his "Sherlock Scans" and you'll find as many flaws in Conan Doyle...deducing, for example, that a man was intelligent because his head was large in "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle"...or for that matter, pretty much everything about the snake in "The Adventure of the Speckled Band"). But certain things in this episode she seems to be just pulling out of thin air, like the idea that Maxim was the first Kurairan based entirely on the idea that Kurairan vanished around the same time Maxim died, or that Maxim was the original inspiration for the Dark Reaper myth, things that don't even seem like likely interpretations of evidence which can then be subject to testing, but which seem nearly random.
Lastly, since I pretty much never watch the OP (pesky 1 MB download speed means that nearly always the OP stops and starts all the time when watching, so I don't pay much attention to it), I totally missed the clues about fake/real Avril. That is, I deduced that Avril was Kurairan, but not that she was also not Avril (I assumed that the first Kurairan was in fact her "adventurer" grandfather). I feel like a complete idiot for missing the significance of the uncancelled stamp, especially since the damn postcard is written in English.
Lastly, I love the deconstruction of the "Gentleman Thief" archetype in this arc. I always hate how these characters are presented as positive and heroic despite being criminals who steal from people and give unto themselves (sure, rich people--because rich people have valuables worth stealing--but that hardly provides carte blanche to attack all rich people!) just because they're charming. But both Kurairans here are shown to be outright villains, with the first one a manipulator of women (to say nothing of his "Dark Reaper" actions) who gets what he deserves and the second one willing to kidnap a girl and stuff her alone under the floorboards of a deserted storehouse no one ever goes to and who then tries to strangle Kazuya. I like that.

I still prefer Madoka's soundtrack, although Gosick's soundtrack is pretty awesome
I'm liking the series, but I really can't buy the Victorique's solutions to the mysteries. I don't know if it's from a bad adaption, but they seem too far-fetched
Not sure I like where this is going, we are basically getting separate stories, each one covered in 2-3 eps. Was hoping for a more solid plot.
And yea, lol @ Vic guessing correct answers every time, like 13th step obv the book is there. Thats stupid.
The blushing scene at the end is really cute, implying that there was a reason why Victorique showed herself to Kujo. Also a rival for Kujo's heart in the form of the real avril.
As for the mysteries though, it was kinda interesting, the twist for how the story goes, again relating the past mystery regarding Maxim to the phantom thief and to the impostor Avril and to how much a stamp can on the post card could actually cost a lot.
What I really enjoyed though was realizing that the flight of stairs and a pile of books could be a deadly weapon, considering how a long way down the impostor avril went through. XD
