A really nice episode about family, history, communicating one's dreams and feelings through your craft. Although it focused on brands of alcohol per usual, it really could have been anything to be that symbol.

Slightly better than the 1st episode, but still obviously not my cup of tea, it was too melodramatic.
Nothing happens, but there's quite a lot of talking, which doubles the boredom.
The flowers were the best thing of this episode.

Damn, that girl is way too clumsy, breaking the bottle twice is so irritating, and no one scolded her.

"It was a Whiskey only for Japanese people, and made by a Japanese person."
Racist Whiskey then?

She only dropped it once, the second time shown in the episode was how it really happened. And, the point of the whiskey being for Japanese people is showing that the hotel industry is still Japanese in nature and doesn't lose it's culture and so on.

In any case, that was a very well done episode I think. I fail to see how this was melodrama, it was very subdued I thought.

I usually don't watch this kind of anime, but this is pretty interesting. It takes it slow. I liked this better than the first episode.

Well, I'm still not used to this anime for some reason, but this was nice though. It's so mellow, nice to watch while having a drink by the way haha

I had a thought halfway through this that they made this series solely as a way to advertise different brands of alcohol to people. I could sort of see that. I can also see the melodrama. In anime to me, it seems more about keeping it at a tolerable level, rather than expecting none at all. It was certainly acceptable to me in this case.
Either way, another laid back, relaxed episode. Very nice to watch at night. Hah, I'll make sure not to wait another almost five months before the next one.

That's how this show is. The pacing isn't really an issue here. Anyways, decent episode. Kaku huh? I'd like to try that out someday.

Another great episode. I like this slow pacing - it's relaxing.

I don't think the drama is at all "cheesy". I like the poetic approach to alcohol. It's sweet :3

Is this just lazy animating or is this just "their" style?

I really can't decide.

That was an interesting episode, which looked at Japanese history and drinks.

I don't really get the clash between hotels and inns, it was probably a Japanese culture thing (I see them as both the same). But I liked and understood the concept of Suntory kakubin, a Japanese whisky that represents the best of old and modern Japan.

I thought the missing father was a bit contrived, his absence was just there to make up the mystery. But I guess that's life: it's incomplete and you just have to move with it. It looks like Miwa's grandad got some closure from it, even though it would have been nice if his son was still alive for a proper reconciliation.

I agree ^^ I also think the drama is quite subdued, as insan3 said. Just as the first episode, I really like the mellow tone in the episodes, and I think that's probably due to the soft piano pieces in the background. It's a nice choice, and makes up for the lack of animation.

The symbols were interesting as well, I think the author did a great job with the research and then tying it in with this story. It's really great that the bottle of whiskey was able to give Miwa's grandfather closure, it was a touching scene as he sat there and took a sip of the whiskey.

Hmm well it seemed like their family had a ryokan (not sure if the word was actually used though), and if that's the case, it's definitely very different from modern inns.

Yep. This series is very mellow and slow-paced. Reminds me of the atmosphere I get from watching Durarara :)

I love learning about the drinks, too! Gives me more to know next time I hit up a bar :D

Man the pace on this was so bad. I think a lot of fat could've been cut here. Not a bad episode though, I liked the history of the Japan only Whiskey and the cool complexity of the drinks. I think this series has a lot of high interest. Kinda sucks that I just don't drink for it to be more appealing.

The atmosphere in this show is excellent and the plot for this episode was well crafted with some cool details.

This episode is slightly better than the previous one. I liked the story, but there are so many unnecessary details that made me feel bored. The whole thing with the history of liquor and whatever was so damn boring. I wish they'd focus more on the story and less on the drinks and their origins.

Echoing everyone else before me who said that this episode was better than the first, but overall not remarkable. The line delivery in the first episode seemed overly shouty, while this time it was pretty flat and emotionless, like lines being read off a piece of paper. I assume this is a consequence of the low budget, because if they can't afford to convey emotion through animation, they have to spell things out instead. At least the woman actually played a significant part this time.

Surprising to me too, but I kind of enjoyed the bits of history because they tied into the meaning of the gift. While reminiscent of an ad, they at least had a reason to be in there, heh.

I honestly like this episode. The narrator's voice is so soothing and the story is heartwarming. I'm not fond at alcoholic beverages but it's nice to know the history about them.

I can't imagine the regret the grandfather felt for not having reconciled earlier before the accident
Bit different than the first episode but I gotta say the story this time on the family bonds between the father and grandfather feels more emotional and touching .

2nd episode was also watched at anime society.

This story didn't intrigue me as much as the others did, and I kinda forgot what happened lol. A lot of mentioning to the whole "Menu of the Heart" which was a cool concept I will give it that.

Otherwise, just alr. Thought this girl would be a mc throughout tho kinda like Death Parade. See how it goes.

I'm not really into this alcohol beverage thing but the concept is pretty cool, and has a very soothing voice for the narrator, honestly this is giving a similar death parade vibe but it's just a mid ripoff

a great but poignant episode. The writing and the vibe are carrying it through.

Whilst the animation is lazy, it has some moments of good framing and a good use of shadows.

Now I can only imagine how much of an improvement over this already great but underrated anime is gonna give us.

What a sad story between a father and his now deceased son, I really like the outcome with the Suntory bottle, keeping the Japanese taste no matter how much the traditions changed...
