Great ad for AD Police. Where can I sign up?

"Who's going to strip!?"

"Strip?"

"Did someone say strip?"

Nene is so cool she doesnt even have to raise a finger in the battle scene at the end.

Also: best suiting-up scene in the history of anime!?

Yeah, Nene is alot more cool since the last episode of Bubblegum Crisis. And, yeah, the suit up scene was great as well. I actually think this episode was better written than some of the ones from the first series.

Good episode, nothing out of the ordinary though.

Yeah Nene now doesn't break a sweat destroying boomers xD

Uh-uh, I think I hava a small idea of who's coming back! =D

And yeah this was better directed than those 2 or 3 bad episodes in the middle of Bubblegum Crisis, if I recall correctly it started with the killer car episode. But it doesn't compare to the first 2 and last episodes.

Ugh, I agree that this show is better than Bubblegum Crisis at it's worst, but really that's not the most convincing case one could make for it ;)

It reminded me too much of power rangers and terrible shows like that, to be honest. It seemed like a better version of power rangers, whereas the original had more of a deliciously moody cyberpunk feel going on. I still liked it though, so yay

Probably the only episode I enjoyed from Crash. It also had the best version of the OP, since the latter ones add in sound effects and shit.

I was wondering why they changed Priss seiyū. So I did some google search and finally found this in wikipedia:

Priss was voiced by rock singer Kinuko Ohmori in Bubblegum Crisis but after the series was cancelled she decided to focus full-time on her recording career and thus J-pop singer Ryoko Tachikawa took over the role in Bubblegum Crash.

It's noticeable that both voiced only one character.

Not too bad. Decent action and pacing.

Sad that Priss had a different noticeable voice actor. I actually thought the pacing was a bit off as well. Wasn't as dark as Crisis. Awesome music as usual from that era of anime. Was expecting creepy monster Boomers. On to the next two episodes.

Man, the larger world of Bubblegum could be so damn cool if it could be done right. This franchise would actually be a reboot I would love to see now.

PS Oh, yeah when they suit up....that was super ridiculously awesome.

Fun story, but...

...maybe it's because I just finished watching the original BGCrisis in 1080p (watching Crash in 480 on DVD), but there seems to be a huge drop in the quality of the animation and art direction. I remember not liking Crash as much, but I'm hoping the next two episodes are better than this.

It had a tv series reboot in the late 90s, which might be exactly what you are looking for since from what a friend told me it's overly dark and edgy because 90s.

Dissapointing. Priss felt like a completely different character from Crisis. One thing is the different seeiyu but another thing when they change her personality and make her a boring pop singer. And they seem to completely have forgotten the background on Boomers and how they were created.

both seiyus had simmilar voices, tho I prefer kinuko, both voiced a main character pretty well but only took that one role and stoped after. coincidence?

"Powerd Suitz File" I'll never get tired of this Engrish

"Scirocco" is a cafe with desserts? Unexpected use for a Gundam name

Lando's facial scar surely looks familiar...

Nene is "Cyber Musume" now?

Sylia shouldn't namedrop Knight Sabers in public like that...even if quietly.

Overall the episode was too dark - literally. A noticeable drop in visual quality, I'd say. And the sound isn't that impressive either. I hope the remaining two episodes will offer some sort of closure rather than just a follow-up to this (unfinished) story arc, though.

Seems fairly common for singers. Mari Iijima did the same, for instance.

And they seem to completely have forgotten the background on Boomers and how they were created.

Didn't notice anything out of ordinary.

P.S. Why do we need to know that drunk Nene stripped before? So unexpected of her!

Well, that was disappointing. The voice acting was just dreadful! When you are seriously thinking of switching to a decidedly poor example of early nineties dubbing because they almost do a better job than the original VAs, that's when you know it sucks!

The writing wasn't up to much in the first place either, none of the characters did or said anything all that interesting, except possibly Nene. Even Leon and Daley's scenes left me cold and they were my favourite in the Crisis.

I may be remembering the original badly but I could have sworn Nene and Priss' characters were completely different.

The plot would make far more sense as a prequel though, Priss maturing from a budding pop idol to rock chick, the Boomer tech advancing due to the new AI instead of being inexplicably primitive, and the Ad Police learning from the Knight Sabers and turning into the reasonably effective force we saw in BC 2032.

I thought the cafe proudly advertising its name as "Piss" in 20 foot high Blue neon was a highlight, especially considering the grade of coffee they apparently serve there! XD

I *need* a timestamp for that

Priss maturing from a budding pop idol to rock chick, the Boomer tech advancing due to the new AI instead of being inexplicably primitive,

That's closer to the 2040 remake, actually (it's good)

And that's pretty much the A.D. Police OVA (except without the Sabers)

or Parasite Dolls, actually

I could never get over Nene's new look . Look what they did to her adorable pink hair! She looks like an irritating middle manager now. I guess that makes me a horribly shallow person :(.

I will be having a look at the AD police spin off soon. Leon may be a straight archetypical cyberpunk cop but it's an archetype I love!

I knew Crash was gonna have less budget. I don't mind it really with a very by the numbers plot and without the animation muscle and attention to detail and style of Crisis, the 50 minutes of this first episode seemed to drag on. It could've been a neat 20-30 minutes episode, or they could've spiced things up like Episode 7 of Crisis which constantly changed POV to make things more dynamic.

It's aight, but it's far from a return to form. Hopefully the other two episodes are better.
