I don't think so, the way I interpreted it is that Isako's brother is dead/got caught up in lost space and Isako is trying (probably in vain) to retrieve him. Kind of reminds me of Yasako's "brother" but I dunno.
I really am wondering who the new guy is now, though. Don't have many ideas on who he could be...

But yeah, good for a recap ep. Akira = future /b/tard :P

I'm also guessing that the female migget pet, however you spell it is the older guy's pet? Or of another character to see later on?

Meh... recap ep -3- ... I wasnt paying much attention since its a recap, so i didnt get most of what was going on between Haraken and that guy, cause i didnt realize that that wasnt part of the recap, and i couldnt be bothered going back to watch the part again, so whatever if i missed any important information.

These last few eps are filler-ish, episodic eps, me wants them to start following the story again~... *Next episode from preview looks AWESOME thou, so me hopes they are goin back to the story, cant wait to find out Yasako's past in more detail*

No such thing as filler in this series, its all written by one guy and every episode fleshes out and develops the world this story is set in. The main mystery comes to the forefront ocassionally, but if we dealt with it constantly then the series would feel very rushed.

Pretty good episode for a recap.

Since I kept this series on hold for several months, this episode was good for me to play catch up and get reaquainted with all the characters again. I want to find out more about what the mysterious guy talked to Haraken about.

So it looks like we're going to find out what exactly a "Dennou Coil" is. Electronic Brain Coil, perhaps?

Geh, skipped most of the recap and went on to the new stuff. Hope that doesn't make me too much of a failure as a viewer, but I've watched all the episodes up to now over the past few days so I didn't really need a recap... It looked like a good recap episode though. People would probably need one after 13 weeks (an episode a week I'm guessing).

huh, a very different recap from what i'm used to seeing.
anyway, the ending was awesome, seems like we'll finally find out more about what's really going on in the city.

now the guy talking to haraken, i thought for a moment he could be the guy "4423" that yasako met when she was younger, but it's probably not him.

I liked this recap, I like Akira. The micet thing is so cute...and lol, Fumie ended up spying on Akira too. No matter what he tries, he just can't win with her. xD

i'm guessing that too, we'll see

oyajii spy xD who needs a mice when you have an oyaji? xD

but about being fillerish the last episodes i agree, they sure were interesting but the story development slowed down quite a bit there
the first episodes were new infos non-stop :o

So there were 4 fillers in a row till they finally decided to continue the story. If this episode didn't end up with the serious part at the end, I probably would have dropped this show.

I don't really think they were fillers as you actually learned more about the characters/their pets/the world they live in. A good story needs you to feel like you're part of it, makes you care for the characters, needs a build-up etc.

As for this episode, I was surprised as it actually was a good recap with additional scenes. I always wondered about the cat, nice to know even "it" has a purpose.

At first I thought a freaking recap, so I fast forward through some and then we got Haruken in the park and some massive plot development.

This is how to do recaps, make the episodes half and half.

Well, of course you won't see the point of a recap if you're binge-watching a series.

I'm really not a fan of recap episodes that intersperse a few bits of new footage in between the old footage but as far as recap episodes go, this is one of the more creative ones. Akira and Fumie's relationship gets a little more fleshed out (His Micet is incredibly creepy and the fact that it still runs around is unnerving as hell).

The last scene between Hareken and the mystery dude (Isako's brother ?) was very intense.

For 3/4ths of this episode being a recap, given how I've seen many damn recaps in anime, this wasn't too bad. Gave Fumie's brother a little more characterization from his perspective as his recordings detail his feelings for other people and truly shows how much of an ass Fumie had been in general lol.

But the real meat of this episode was in the final few minutes, that was pretty great and super tense to watch. Haraken learning more and more about how deep this issue runs beyond just a coincidence, Isako's brother being potentially teased with the involvement from looks of things, so much to look forward to. Hopefully the show can carry this momentum now and get through the story now that there's 12 episodes left. I enjoyed the standalone episodes a lot for its character building, world building and general entertainment, but I'm hungry now for the actual plot.

I thought this was going to be a simple recap episode, but holy crap that was a lot of plot. It's interesting that the flashbacks were told through Akira, which also confirms that Akira has spied or at least heard of all the major events that have happened so far in the series. It begs to question just how much video evidence he has of other characters' actions, as well as how much of that information Fumie can access by proxy since she's spying on him in turn. It's also interesting to hear about the Micet pets, the privacy and copyright laws enacted in the anime's world, and the use of illegally obtained video through Micet in court.

We finally got the Dennou Coil title drop. That was an ominous as hell warning to Ken, and for some reason, I forgot throughout all this that the anime is very much cyberpunk. All the accidents involving children at the Zebra Crossing were the byproduct of some other plot, and if Ken continues researching, he might end up suffering the same fate as Kanna, whatever fate that may be. It could be just simple death, or it could involve assimilation into some greater hivemind of digital monstrosities. It's hard to tell at this point.

This episode made me think about how easily AR could cause accidents. Imagine wearing glasses that could make you see objects and being so realistic that you'd mistake them for physically existing. In a street intersection, this could easily cause an accident in real life if these glasses malfunctioned, either making people see things in the middle of the street, or not seeing things that were covered up, erased, or transformed into something else.

Also, at this point, Illegals are truly sentient creatures. They're apparently capable of evolution, as well as adaptation. Since obsolete spaces have been slowly erased, their natural habitats have slowly diminished, forcing them to either possess the bodies of cyberpets or assimilate into existing spaces to survive. This results in cyberpets getting damaged or destroyed through incompatible possession, or friction with systems as they take up digital storage space. There are strong metaphors here for humans intruding on real world natural environments with construction and urban sprawl. As a result, species would either die out, invade other natural environments and damage existing ecosystems, or attempt to exist in human environments. You'd then have things like scorpions or other critters existing under homes, mountain lions walking around parks, or other similar incidents. It makes me wonder what possible side effects exist for the complete eradication of Illegals.

The last thing this show needed right now was a recap episode.

I'm assuming mysterious boy at the end of this episode is Yuko's brother.

I got a bit worried when I realized it was a recap, but it was a very good episode ! I love how the show really manages to make you care about the characters, Akira was the exception but now he feels like a real part of the story as well ! And damn, I like Fumie but she can be a real little jerk at times.
Also, I wonder who the other Micet belongs to and if it will play a part in the plot.
Speaking of the plot, I'm really curious to know who this guy who talked to Haraken is. I am pretty certain that he is this "4-4-3-2" guy Yasako met as a child, but that doesn't explain exactly who he is. I really doubt he is Isako's brother since the way it's told really gives me the impression that he is dead or at the very least in a rather peculiar condition, basically I can't see him walking around freely like that. It seems that whatever Isako is about to do is fully about trying to bring him back, so yeah, for now I don't believe it's him.
But then, who is he ? For some reason, at some point during their discussion I became convinced that he actually is Haraken's future self, although there's no implication that time-travel is even possible in this world but you know, maybe he could be travelling through data or something. I don't know, if it weren't for this "detail" I'd really think they might be the same person, there are a lot of things that could hint at this, including the fact that Yasako initially believed Haraken to be "4-4-3-2" before realizing they're not the same age. Well, I'll see if next episodes will give weight to my theory or not.

In any case, there are a lot of mysteries and I'm quite excited to see what's next now that we're entering the real plot. I really liked the more light-hearted first half which had some great episodes and really helped feeling comfortable in this world and getting used to the characters, but now I'm very interested in the more serious stuff, especially since previous episode, which was a lot darker than the others, was pretty great and I hope we'll get more of this from the show !

A nice way to recap the past episodes, it even hinted at some future events? Who's the other spy pet?
