THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Wow, the second arc of this show has pretty lousy animation. Feels like I'm watching a western show, even the story feels like Hollywood at times. (I'm thinking 80's horror flick House)

I agree, the animation was below average. Especially the way the old demon-lady transformed from a somewhat human appearance to a monster with snakes coming out everywhere was lame, and then there was the "orgy" in the castle...

The story itself is not really bad, just badly executed. I like the falconer tho, so I'm not giving up on this arc.

I like the story better this arc... but the animation (esp in the beginning) is not as good as the first arc.... it got better as it went along tho.

The story's okay so far but the animation could've been much better.

Yeah, the story seems good just not very well executed. Didn't enjoy this episode much at all.

The chick was obviously interested in the falconer but after she kissed him she started bleeding. So,doest this mean that becoming a "corrupt god" (after falling in love with human) means becoming human? Sounds pretty interesting.

A decent episode but, once again, I wonder why this is considered "horror". This is more like a love story where the woman just so happens to feed on the life force of men - which isn't that different from an ordinary woman, right guys? (Joke)

Also, there was some pretty bad animation at times in this episode. That was probably scarier to watch than any of the actual "horror" elements.

I don't like the animation as well. It looks cartoony at times. The story seems interesting, it reminds me of Kurozuka

The story is interesting but I don't see the "horror" in this, is more like normal tales.
I don't really mind the animation.

The beginning of this arc isn't as good as the previous one, but well lets see what this chapter has to offer!

Some of the character designs were very cartoonish but the Princess looked good. Story takes my fancy more than the first.

I'd say they're more like dark fairy tales than horror.

I agree. It's not really scary but I guess if you put yourself in the falconer's shoes and think "ah I almost got eaten," then I suppose that's scary lol.

To be honest, I don't think the way the modern western world presents us horror is all there is to horror. You also have to remember that different era's also had different views on art including what is horror and what is not. These horror stories are pretty old afterall and have a completely different cultural backround. It works quite similar to a lot of old literature.

I've been watching a couple anime from a decade ago but this is the oldest, most dated animation I've seen so far. It's like I'm watching Ranma but with weirder character designs.

It's not the kind of horror I expected but the tragic love story bits are a bit interesting ta say the least. Ke ke ke :3

Less harsh (tonally and visually) than the first, I really like the dark fairy-tale feel.

This is an interesting one, I can say for sure that Yotsuya Kaidan has set up a bit of a high bar for me, so I expect these other stories to be just as good, although not quite there, Tenshu Monogatari does have it going on, the potential is there, I have to say however that the art style of the previous story was a bit better and darker, perfectly synced with the story.
I kind of feel bad for the protagonist's wife/lover now that he's involved in that Forgotten Goddess's plans.
It made no sense for those “true demons” to help though, maybe they have their differences against the Forgotten Gods, but that due was a human, I can't see why they spared him.

The OP reminded me of Samurai Champloo (I started watching this arc first)

Those "evil spirits" could've been a bit less goofy though

It's funny to see people in this thread "discover" the "not scary" Japanese horror genre :p

Me realizing I've been watching this arc first.

Those Leeron and L disguising themselves as kekekekekeke mononoke brothers turned out to be really nice and caring, I love them.

Yes, this opening reminded me of Samurai Champloo too! And somehow of Chika also. It's gold, I love it.

Ya I got screwed over by weird episode ordering too. You'd think encoder groups could get simple things like that correct if they obsess over smaller details.

I just realized that the place I'm watching this anime in basically switched the first and second story, so well my introduction to this anime was this story, which was very fucking mixed. First of all, the pilot of this story was dogshit. Weak production, one-dimensional characters, laughably bad pacing, and just pretty fucking bad in general.
