Welp, it's not everyday you get to meet a hotel manager with a flaming head like that.

Tbh, that hotel looks ordinary with the features, rooms, etc. One of the hotel worker, Haruto also seems like a professional at what he does. So far, it follows protagonist Neko Tsukahara. I wish they gave her more character background but it's only the first episode so there's probably time.

Anyways, I think the first episode is fine, has a somewhat mystery vibe to it.

ABEMA Early Airing.

A certain girl finding a strange hotel named the Tasokare Hotel, which intersects between the world of the living and the dead for lost souls, she can't even remember her name for reasons, being attended to by the Hotel Manager with a pseudo-Ghost Rider flamed head. Like the hotel servant of once-human Haruto Atori who only came in 2 weeks earlier than her, he was in the same preposterous position as her trying to find their own souls, but to no avail. The hotel, apart from looking just like your typical budget hotel, has clues hidden in the rooms, and for Neko Tsukahara, her attending an idol concert with 365 members (that's honestly insane) then to find herself unconsciously dead, the hotel, however, has only basic necessities all the way around, and its worker of bartender Menou and guest Kiriko are normal...until a human guest with a tarot card for a face, comes by finding for Atori.

The mystery with the tarot lady trying to find her memories requesting for Atori, Neko assisting him since they're birds of the same feather, assess her room, which is pretty much a fortune-telling room that foretold of her murder, being an ardent fan of an idol with almost the same name (Amorun) that had gotten into a scandal with his fake fortune-telling, the endless paper threats that didn't stop the lady of Yumi Hoshina from wanting to meet him and got herself murdered by Amorun because of the escalation of the threats he was dealing with consecutively.

In the end, sending Yumi back to the world of the living is appropriate, and Tasokare Hotel gains yet another employee.

Kayoko Yoshizawa's OP is damn good, colour me surprised.

This could be a decent supernatural mystery series, hoping to see more.

Strong Death Parade vibes.

Dunno anything about the game, but a decent start to this show. I like this type of mysteries.

Neko is adorable. :3

That's a massive idol unit btw. 365 members. O_o

Could Neko be a rare lesbian-lead protagonist? She seems to interest in woman, her idols are female, and she flirts with the waitress in the hotel.

i liked. since supernatural/mystery is one of my fav genres.

The atmosphere is reminiscent of Death Parade and Kyokou Suiri, focusing on episodic stories of different guests and their dilemmas between life and death and bizarre characters.
The protagonist, who we see has intuitive abilities that contrast with her lack of memory, is clearly set to solve or play a significant role in the mysteries of the characters that will appear in the following episodes.
The animation is of good quality to me, with consistent character designs. I believe the upcoming episodes will feature more intricate and bizarre stories—at least, I hope so.
I hope the show delves deeper into the emotional context of the protagonist. i mean she seems to accept very well her condition, she should be at least scared as Atori said but shows us that everyone is different and face the things in a different way.
The pacing is acceptable, although slightly rushed in introducing the concepts, but the clarity in explaining the setting is reasonable.

That locked door gave of some ominous vibes... The afterlife? Or something dark perhaps.

Still odd to see the hotel with this premise be so empty, with how many people die everyday.

A group of people living in the same place while being not quite alive or dead with amnesic guests? Seems like Haibane Renmei but less depressing.

Kinda like Death Parade, but hotel instead of bar and no games, more of a self-discovery thing?
Wait, they actually have darts and billiard, but those aren't part of the process! And of course they have THE ELEVATOR!

So basically Death Parade, but funny and with lower production values.
If this doesn't run out of good ideas several episodes in, it will be a good show.

Ok, this is my new favorite anime this season, I am actually excited.

This plot was well written and explained, the art style and animation are good, and the characters and intersections are so interesting.

The female MC Neko, really got into the whole, helping people figure out their memories and fates, more interested in that than actually finding out her own.

Yes, I really like this anime.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I've played the android version of game before and the anime have a different start. It's not mean that bad, instead this add more "flavor" to the story. This episode give Neko another reason to work at hotel more then just can't figure out how she got there.

It got off to a good start. Besides enjoying it for the Death Parade-like vibes, I also liked it for Tsukahara's voice actress. It's the first time I've heard her in an anime, but I love how well her voice fits the character - a mix of sweetness and mystery.

As a big fan of the mystery and supernatural genres, this anime started off well and I hope the story doesn't stay simple.

The concept of a hotel with wandering souls that are lost is interesting.
Has Death Parade vibes but the set up looks more like that of Restaurant of Another world.
Meaning every episode we meet a new guest as we slowly unravel the story an something that is better watched 1 at a time instead of binging it.
I appriciate anime like that. As they are a nice change of pace after watching a lot of action anime.

Looking forward to the next guest of the week.

Also the hotel manager reminds me of the bartender in Undertale.

Very intriguing! Certainly hooked. Surprised to see the source is mobile game.
Taukahara is cute and lovable character. Wonder why she got stabbed though... Maybe, just like with Ruri, she annoyed one of the idols or their fan?

Neko IMO resembles Renge from "Non non biyori", and sounds like her too. A grown-up version of her :D

Voice actress piqued my interest from the start and turns out she's pretty new in VA industry and Neko is her first main character; until now she was voicing only supporting characters. Good luck to her.

Wonder if hotel manager is also a human! And that's why he has a flaming head.

As people have mentioned this has "Death parade" vibes, albeit more friendly environment and people here aren't necessarily dead and may return back to the living world, which is good. For now, there doesn't seem to be heavy drama (like in DP) and it isn't depressing. We'll, that's to be expected from mobile game adaptation. I suppose this will focus more on solving mysteries and helping people remember; and bonding with hotel staff.

I wonder... If time keeps on moving in this twilight world, Neko (who I assume isn't dead given the calm and cute atmosphere of the show) is "fighting for her life" in the hospital, and she'll continue to be in coma for as long as she's in the hotel. My point is, this show has to conclude in 12-13 episodes no? I don't think a show with cat-face MC will go dark route and she'll choose to die (pass on), or work in the hotel for eternity or something.

I hope this stroy will conclude and not drag on for the sake of dragging on, thus becoming repetitive and boring. This had a good first impression and therefore I hope it won't disappoint later.

i stumbled upon this and instantly realized it might've been a game previously. I'm actually interested in playing the game if the story is good, the characters all look very cute and adorable, and I like the MC a lot she's very likeable. Some people are saying it's like Death parade, but aside from the whole purgatory aspect, they're not really alike. There's no death games or high stakes (yet lol) and the mystery solving seems to be contained to just the characters walking around the strange hotel room.

But its very cute show I will definitely be watching this, i love mystery anime and this is a welcome surprise! I will also definitely check the game out, though i've heard it paywalls a lot of its story behind microtransactions (lame) which is probably why this anime exists to begin with. To advertise the mobile visual novel game, and get more people playing it.

Really liked that first episode, it has an interesting setting and the characters seem fun thus far. The only thing I'm unsure on was that beginning scene showing Neko having been stabbed, in a way it kind of feels like it's already revealed something pretty important, something I would expect to see later on in the show.

@LiseranThistle The game uses a "ticket system" for their monetization, basically you can read 5 pages a day, if you want to read more you either wait for daily reset or spend money. The game can be completely played as free-to-play it just takes a long while to read everything. It's true there are paid stories, but only the "special story" which pretty much ties up loose ends and shows the epilogue, it's like $30 I think. I do recommend checking out the game even if you're watching the anime cuz the story has "branches" which can lead to different endings and the bad endings are really good. I do think the anime will follow the "true route" with a few addition just like how episode 1 already added anime original scenes (the tarot girl guest and her story is anime original)

Great start! It's feels a bit like death parade in a chill version.

Neko san is very likable.

So far I like how this hotel and show works.

But also it kinda giving me some bad vibes of the ending. Also I don't wanna lose my beloved characters one after another.

Please I hope this show doesn't end up like that!
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Nope. Any association with Death Parade, while understandable at the first glace, is completely misguided. I forgot it's based on a game but I guess the girl with a really annoying voice (awful VA choice for a main character) is the player insert. She's more of a plot device than an actual character with how unnatural was her reaction to the whole situation. Her remembering an insignificant detail about a streamer she just heard about, while not being able to recall anything about her accident, was bizarre as well. I don't see any reason to watch it after the first episode. None of the characters is endearing enough to carry a bland story and the setting isn't interesting enough to compensate for bland characters.

I actually rlly enjoyed this, the concept of the rooms changing and slowly allowing you to remember is cool, so are the character designs. You see all kinds of characters with weird heads but never before have I come across someone with a tarot card for a head.

The anime opens with a captivating and unique premise, blending supernatural elements with emotional depth. The first episode introduces a mysterious hotel where guests, each with their own unresolved past, stay for a brief moment in time. The atmosphere is beautifully crafted, with a melancholic yet soothing tone that draws you into the world.

The characters are intriguing, and the show does a great job of balancing their personal stories with the overarching mystery of the hotel. The animation is visually stunning, and the soundtrack complements the mood perfectly. It serves to build the emotional impact. Overall, it's a thoughtful, well-crafted start that promises a compelling narrative ahead.

Neko is a bit of a weird character, wonders 0 about what's going on and just starts working for the hotel. I like the idea, a bit like Death Parade but you quickly realize that it's not going to be like Death Parade. Will probably be a very episodic series.
