She is a very anxious person. People might think she's cute, but that's probably because they don't know people like this IRL. I know people with generalized anxiety disorder, and they are obnoxious. They get afraid over everything and absolute nonsense. For example, they wear masks outside (in Dec 2024) because they think people are stalking them. Having Hitori as the main character pretty much ruins the show for me because there's too much resemblance to these people I know IRL. I know that in reality people like this are the biggest nuisances.
People with low average anime scores don't have high standards. They are just bad at choosing good anime to watch.

Whether someone is obnoxious or not doesn't necessarily depend on their anxiety, that would be a false generalization.

You trolling?

Bocchi is used for comedy. The goal isn't to promote social anxiety but to laugh at her extreme case.

Congrats you’re not the target audience and the inability to accept others and their anxiety is just proof of it.

finding a fictional character annoying is one thing, but to then say that you feel the same about real people with real issues just shows that you’re an awful person

You're lack of empathy is disturbing. It's one thing to mock an anime girl, but mocking people with a real mental condition that they can't control is just evil.

Nah, we all agreed that her character was written as cute and anxious as possible, cause that was the appeal of her

We accepted it, some of us loved it and then we all moved on with our lives.

I don't like the show, so I don't watch it. I don't expect them to change anything for my sake.

People who say they sympathise with people with mental disorders are full of shit. They probably aren't close to people IRL with mental disorders and don't know what it's truly like. When people see some weirdo on the street yelling, they'll probably think they're dangerous and insane. They won't feel sympathy that person who probably has a mental disorder. The reality is that people with mental disorders are usually low functioning and have behaviours that are unpleasant depending on the severity of their condition. People normally judge them as weird, annoying, unpleasant, and etc. You've probably unknowingly done it in your lifetime since these people typically don't know about or disclose their condition.

Wow. Doubling down on a shit take with baseless and honestly harmful stereotypes. Very classy. I’m sure you’re great at parties. How about you go outside and meet some real people instead of generalizing mental disorders as “always disruptive and bad”. Actually on second thought, stay inside. Where it’s safe. We’ll be better off that way. Thanks

@smalltownthief Are you close to anyone IRL with mental disorders? Don't talk if you aren't because you're the one making baseless assumptions if you have no experience. I'm close to 3 people IRL with diagnosed mental disorders, and they all match my description. For example, the person I referred to in my post spends most of their day watching their house camera for non-existent stalkers. They also document every car number plate and appearance in case one of them is a stalker. They're dysfunctional.

There's a difference between general anxiety, social anxiety and paranoia. Bocchi is about a girl with social anxiety, which in a few words means having extreme fear of being judged or embarassed by others in social situations, and people like that are also the target audience of the show. What your friend has, from what you just described here, is completely different from this.

Doesn't matter who you know, you shouldn't shame people with disorders online, you never know who's reading this. Really not cool man, no point made, you're just a dick.

How she annoying, again?
She rarely talk and many times fainted trying to.
Whats annoying is when a character talk too much.
Especially in the middle of a fight, like typical battle shounen.
Or when a character not having any change in trait after big event in their live.

Not at all, I don't find her annoying.

Someone like her is kind and try their hardest not to offend someone, they're generally nice to have around as friends ^.^

she simply has social anxiety, which is not uncommon these days.

Sorry, but this is an awful take.

Of course anxious people are a pain to live with.
But mostly because they struggle delaing with life and we struggle dealing with their reactions to life.

Bocchi is an awesone character because we can see and hear what that anciety feels like.
And then we see it contrasted eith other diametrically different personalities.
And then we see how a strong, committed, support network does help these people improve their situation and start their path to healing.

We also see how crucial it is for Bocchi to struggle and take that step and focus on coming out of her shell.

Also, you are wrong.
Bocchi does not have GAD.
She has social anxiety.
Those are two different conditions.

She doesn’t annoy me but I wish she would get treated for her social anxiety. I had/have it. I’m on medication so it’s not like it just went away. Everyone on the show is like “oh that’s just how she is” but it’s a real issue. I wish they would have expanded on her getting help instead of just acting like it is what it is/ nothing you can do attitude. Maybe I’m reading too much into it since it’s an anime but since Japan has a high suicidal rate, it would have been nice to show viewers that you can get help if you need it. I still liked the anime though.

Also don’t be mean. Those people need help and it’s not always easy to admit it.
