Thanks to Keisuke, the drama surrounding Marika and her mother didn't escalate too far. However, this episode couldn't escape the aftermath effects. Tbh, it's part of life and I'm not even surprised. Life is tough. Keisuke did what a mature adult would do and helped Marika in the best way he could, even carrying her in the rain. Respect. |

Wake up calls to be a better parent don't usually involve your kid being the reincarnation of some random dude's wife but I'm happy for Chika. And man, that flashback of kid Chika wanting to go to that amusement park so badly made the photo Takae found hit like a truck. |

Yeah, we knew the reason WHY Marika's mom was why she was, was just really that we needed to see if it was truly that bad, and yeah, I can understand to AN EXTENT why she is why she is, but at the same time, wouldn't you want to not become like the devil your mom is to your child? I know she said something along those lines, but I just want to know what made her still turn into that same devil her mom was, but for Marika. But yeah, Marika is clearly an adult and you can see it, I mean, that whole scene in the rain was just so good. And the reveal was just the cherry on top. Almost cried why Marika said "you are my mom, mom".... fuck. Really the only solution to this problem would be for Keisuke and Marika's mom to marry each other, although it would take time, these four could make a great family, I can see it. One of the best episodes of the week IMO. |

I honestly don't know about this. Didn't expect they'd actually reveal to mom how Marika's a reincarnation, but here we are, it happened. What makes it difficult is the fact Chika can't look at Marika the way she did to this day. She now knows Marika isn't "just or only" Marika but also someone's wife and a mom. Relationship will be awkward from now on no? Marika can't pretend being a kid mentally. I imagine it'll be hard to accept and get used to this. Now, the other option was to keep lying and deceiving. Some may say this would've been better, but I think heavy truth is always better than a sweet lie. I personally wouldn't bring myself to lie to mom (In Marika's place) either. IzanaSolos said: Yeah, that would solve so many problems, but I'm really not fond of Keisuke. This retard was seriously going to say "she's my wife" at the start of the episode. The man's unbelievable! Later when Marika lashed out on him for being judgmental of Chika, this guy at the end of the episode still had the audacity to say "I don't believe that you'll change" to Chika. WTF dude? It makes sense to scold her for neglecting daughter. It makes sense to warn her that if neglection continues, you'll take Marika away from her, but saying you have no faith in her from the get go? That was an ass move; why say that?Really the only solution to this problem would be for Keisuke and Marika's mom to marry each other, although it would take time, these four could make a great family Right now I can already imagine Chika changing for the better, but damn Keisuke is so annoying! Hopefully Keisuke changes too. |

I hate that he got interrupted. But the fact that he got interrupted meant that he was about to say that Marika was his wife in front of everyone. That would've had a disastrous consequence. Good job, Mai. You stopped your father from nearly destroying all of your lives. Chika might be a bad parent but she dropped some truth bombs about parents. A lot of parents think they own their children or something and don't treat them like human beings. Especially Asian parents. I get that children owe their parents but taking advantage of that to treat your own flesh and blood like shit is beyond scummy. Tbh I wasn't expecting this anime to deal with subjects like parenting. It seems like Chika initially was a good mother. Her husband probably kept her in check and allowed her to be a different person. But as soon as he divorced her things quickly fell apart and she quickly started behaving like her own mother. Can't really blame her. She grew up knowing nothing but her own parents. So, it was probably like instincts for her. It's hard to change something like that. Holy shit. I wasn't expecting this series to do the reveal to Marika's mom. That must've come as a shock to Chika and it doesn't seem like she fully believes it. Or more like she doesn't want to. After all, if her own daughter was actually someone else then that means she might truly be alone. But thankfully, it seems like Marika is finally getting back her old memories that she lost after remembering her past life. Now, it seems like she can be both Marika and Takae. I didn't think this show would go so far with the reincarnation concept. I'm really liking the drama so far. At the start of the series, I didn't think too much about Keisuke but lately, he has been irritating me. I get that he cares about Marika/Takae which is why he initially lashed out against Chika. Then it seemed like he finally understood her situation better. But then why did he say all those things like him believing that Chika will never be able to improve as a mother??? Why say that? Please let it be more translation errors... I didn't know/forgot that Aoi Yuki is voicing both Marika and Takae. I thought for sure that they were two different voice actors. She has incredible range! I also thought that Chika marrying Keisuke would be the best case scenario as both families would assimilate. But I just don't see that happening. Can't wait to see what happens next. I'd like to see Chika's character development. |

The old adage “hurt people hurt people” rings true in this latest episode which is the best of the series by far. Chika passed the same abuse and toxicity that she got from her mother down to her daughter, it’s so easy for that cycle of abuse to continue and people to be perpetually stuck in it. In reality, chika herself was a victim and a deeply scarred person who likely took that out on her husband as well leading to their divorce. I truly feel bad for her because she never really got to be a kid herself and in some ways probably ended up being jealous of her own daughter. Keisuke is kind of a stand in for us in this episode because I know I was judging Chika hard as hell the last few episodes and the reality is we didn’t know a damn thing about her. That’s why you shouldn’t judge people so quickly IRL as well. It doesn’t excuse what Chika did to her daughter, but how can you blame her when that’s all she knew? I feel like this is the start of the transition from Takae to Marika as well. When she sticks up for her mom in front of Keisuke it’s a really powerful moment that signals a new chapter for Marika. I think it’ll be slow and methodical, but we will see her gradually gravitate to her mom and her new life causing everyone to begin moving on. It’s gonna be pretty sad to see that tho since Marika is alive and walking the earth, but you know both sides will have to move on at some point. Ngl I was kinda annoyed by Keisuke’s line at the end there now that I know everything Chika been through. She needs a hug, not being threatened with having her kid taken away. Amazing episode tho. |

This scene broke my heart, I couldn't help but shed a few tears π’. She did everything she could to be the best mom π. She remembers how much she wanted to go to this park when she was little, the dreams she had as a child π. She’s amazing, truly, and even in a complicated environment, she’s always cared in her own way. This moment just broke me… Marika's mom is amazing <3 |

Seeing her Mother's ( Marika's) past was rough. That was HELL. But of course, I lived that partly, and so many children have. Parents liked this are all too common, it's amazing she didn't turn out worse than she is. |

This was a very tense and dramatic episode considering the topic at hand. It was a good thing that Mai was able to interrupt Keisuke during his confrontation of Chika, not only for what he could've said, but also due to a growing crowd seeing what was happening. Speaking of Chika, she also went through a period of having a horrid upbringing from her own mother. Despite vowing not to make the same mistakes that her mother did, Chika ended up those exact same mistakes towards Marika. History has a habit of repeating itself and this was one of those cases, unfortunately. =( In the end, the best course of action was for Keisuke and Mai to tell Chika that Marika was a reincarnation of Takae. Chika was, understandably, dismissing of it at first, but seeing how the other three were sincere about it, she had to accept it one way or another. Still, it was nice to see Marika still want to be Chika's daughter. I do feel that Keisuke is getting a bit too much hate for his actions here, although he could've been smarter about it. Still, at least he owned up to his shortcomings about not understanding Chika's situation better. Having said that, he did stick to his warning that he will take Marika away if Chika doesn't get her act together. It's a needed reality check for Chika that if things don't change, then there will be no more chances for her. Seeing her having the heartwarming scene with Marika at the end does give me hope that she can turn over a new leaf and try again. People like her do deserve a second chance and have their own redemption arc. |

@SoulReaper85 A lot of scenes, basically all of them have been built up tp this point. Please watch this video as the reviewer also goes into depth what was skipped. But if you are curious I can number 3 very important scenes: -Takae borrowing up phone from her friend in school, calling Keisuke and explaining the situation to him. -Keisuke having alone conversation with Chika and absolutely destroying her as a parent. -Mei talking with her friends in private about the situation with Marika and how should they react if she gets too aggressive. Like in actually going to child protection service and reporting her. All of this happens between the end of the previous episode and rain scene from image above and none of that happened in the anime. |

A lot of my thoughts have already been mentioned in previous comments: onion cutting, the surprise of the series going this route, even the thought of "what if Chika married Keisuke" lol Did want to point out though.. that colleague / business owner from Chika's work def deserves some credit b/c while she did start some messes (she didn't know any better), she's been contributing to Chika's character development, along with everyone else1 in the series 1 .. even two-timing married dude from before (by getting caught)-- if her life got better2 without her changing, it would probably have been harder to change deep down 2 Are "travelling for work" second families a real thing? I feel I've heard of this before on Reddit |

Every married person would sadly lose a spouse one way or another, and he himself neglected his own daughter for 10 years of ridiculously grieving for his wife. He's a disappointment to fathers who can't get it together to move on and take care of his daughter and himself. It was literally so bad fate had to step in and send his wife back who, by the way, should've moved on to the afterlife without worry and regret. That guy is so pathetic and such a fool that I'm surprised Takae didn't lose respect for him. |

Wow! We’re halfway through the season and it’s getting good. At least we’re through the toughest part of the problem, the bandaid has been torn off. Now we can begin the healing. I do feel that Kosuke was a bit too hard on Marika’s mom telling her she’s doomed to fail. He needs to apologize for that. He has no clue what she's been through and shouldn't judge her for her failures so far. Yes, she has neglected her daughter and caused her a lot of hardship because of her emotional turmoil. The good thing is that she’s seeing what her actions are doing to her daughter and this will hopefully change. The best solution would be to become a blended family and have the best of both worlds. That way she won't struggle as she currently is taking care of Marika. Being a single parent is tough, and knowing that she has them to fall back on would be a tremendous help. Let’s hope that she changes her ways and starts showing her daughter the Kobe she deserves. That way Marika will have the best of both worlds, two loving families helping each other overcome their pain/struggle. |

Most people agree that it's extremely difficult to move on after losing someone close. Maybe the 10-year timeframe is a bit much, but still. Also, "moving on" is the whole premise of the show (I think), so I'll cut him some slack there. What I can't forgive is just how dumb and selfish he is. It shouldn't be so difficult to stop and think before he opens his mouth, especially in public. It shouldn't be so difficult to be understanding of his wife's situation, or to even ask her about it. It shouldn't be so difficult to avoid self-righteous, antagonistic preaching when he himself knows that he hasn't been the best parent. The more I think about this character, the more (irrationally) irritated I become... Obviously a lot of people here like him, or at least don't mind him that much (somehow), so I'll stop here. |

So Keisuke's daughter did end up interrupting the altercation between him and Takae's mother which probably saved him from having the police called as a bystander considered it. While the truth about Takae has come out, her mother is in denial which isn't too surprising although in her mind that did explain a few things such as the perfect omurice dish that Takae had cooked up for her. I'm curious to see where this goes from here but I'm hoping that Chika allows Takae to visit her family at least when she's not around. |

Here Keisuke really lacked common sense. If Mai hadn't interrupted at that moment, he'd probably be in jail. And then he judged Chika without even thinking about what a mother must feel seeing her daughter so happy with strangers. It's very easy to criticize someone with a harsh personality, but the hard part is understanding why she is like that. I was one of those who judged Takae/Marika's mother, but as you get to know her and her past, you start to empathize. It doesn't excuse her actions, but it shows that she's not a bad person, just a woman whose life led her to toughen up in order to survive, and seeing that she started to behave like her Mother by doing that. And despite her behavior, Takae/Marika knows deep down that her mother isn't as bad as Keisuke said, and her shutting him up was one of the best parts of the episode. It's easy to judge, but it's hard to dig deeper and see if your judgment holds up. Now that Chika knows the truth, I can't help but think that it feels bittersweet to start over with her daughter, even though she's not really the same person. |

I have a feeling that Takae wants to repair two broken families, that's going through an trauma or difficult situation that's affecting both families. Chika's situation is pretty understandable too. She didn't even got to enjoy the childhood that every kids had experienced growing up. She is just doing the best she could as an mom, and not being an trashy person like her own mom. She's been going through a lot, so I think the best solution is understanding her and try putting yourself into her own shoes of the experiences she is going through. So, you can understand how difficult it is yourself. |

It’ll be interesting to see where things go from here, especially with things being so repurposed from the manga. (from what I’ve heard) At first, I had a feeling that it wouldn’t finish up in one season, that they would just get stuff from previous chapters after they skip ahead. But especially with this episode, it does look like that they’re going to keep all that content skipped, and make a full adaptation in just one season. |

Dude, I teared up. Learning about Chika's past and having her realizing that she was repeating the same abuse cycle with her daughter was just heartbreaking. Excellent episode. Takae's situation was getting too out of hands so I think the decision of telling Chika the truth was necessary. As for Keisuke's behaviour towards Chika, I can totally understand it from his POV so seeing so many people getting mad at him as if they wouldn't have acted more or less the same was... amusing, to say the least. |

You know what, I'm honestly glad I haven't been able to touch these episodes for four weeks due to that college grind. Just got finished binging episodes 3-6 in prep for tomorrow's episode, and my goodness, the drama in this show is executed well, though had I watched these episodes while they were airing, the anticipation from those cliffhangers would be killing me. NekOniiChan said: Based on the OP sequence, however, I suspect that Takae's current mom might get a character redemption moment further down in the series, but as of now, she's elicits the behavior that may have warranted her divorce the previous year. If that's what will happen, I'm going to need a compelling case on that end since, like many characters like her, they're starting from a highly unlikable state and will need a gut-wrenching backstory in order to view their character as "redeemable". When I said this on the episode 2 discussion, I'm sure I speak for everyone that Chika left a sour remnant upon closure of that episode. Just seeing how she treats Marika, venting out frustration on her, it was very much an irredeemable personality. However, with Chika's backstory delved into with these past couple of episodes, it all the more makes sense why she acts in such a manner, especially how "the apple does not fall far from the tree." Of course, this goes without saying that what she's done cannot be condoned in any way despite these experiences, but at least the first step towards changing ways seems to have begun. The path towards character "redevelopment" will most likely be a rocky one, but I do hope things turn for the better by the end of this anime. |

It's a beautiful episode. I hope her biological mother treat her well going forward. It would also be nice if they get to talk as equals just for once. Episode 7 might be a new arc where they look for a new wife for the dude. |

Wow it was all over the place. The tension the drama, the emotions. I didnt expect we will take a straightforward and almost an unbelievable approach but we did and it did pay off. Keisuke did a great job, he behaved like a human making both mistakes, judgements but finally did the most sensible decision one could make. Letting Chika have the final say cause shes the mother after all and has every right to it. Also respect to takae, she as a mother herself knew what chika is going through and also as a daughter let chika know she still is her mother. The perfect way to balance the emotional bonding. Chika breaking down at the end after marikas response "mom will always be mom" just was the perfect way to end it. |
