Noe needs to keep his emotions in check.

This episode was kinda interesting with the more depth into Chloe's character. She's been kind of the engima this season so far. Not going to lie, I find the creative psychological elements of this episode pretty well executed.

Noé...is just dumbfounded of the choices that Chloé took to be a curse-bearing vampire: one out of free will. And this Naenia curse...is the same curse that took Louis's life, Noé's emotions are expunged too much in the slght of Chloé.

Good thing there's Jean-Jacques to take care as Chloé's attendant, and now Noé and Murr. He's quite the shy guy. And under the command of Francis Varney a.k.a. Marquis Machina, the dhams all investigate the last remaining member of the d'Apchier family: Chloé, whose vampiric backstory is rich in detail and lore.

The Babel in and of itself researching the Alteration Engine that rewrites the World Formula to rewrite history, and that vampires are marred by humans. August was Chloé's first friend that wanted peace between humans and vampires, and also bringing young Jeanne in to share life together while adults run their own errand. Just sad to see that the Alteration Engine research went alone, Jeanne went back to her parents, and Chloé was all alone.

The d'Apchier's Vampire Chloé is trouble impending to restrain.

Not the most thrilling episode ever but it was a quality Chloe-centric episode and exploring her character in detail, both personality and history-wise and doing a generally solid job with the mysteries there that involve her. The visual choices for some of the more psychological elements were good too.

Noe's harem gets another member!
It was necessarily boring, this episode? Like we needed to know but since I'm doing it weekly instead of binging it's more a let down to wait another week. I really like the Noe x Jean Jacques time though, and as an anime only viewer, it'd be nice if this ends up with Chloe becoming a part of the group...

They probably rearranged it again..like in season 1 for the most part...(I dont think the studio is dumb enough to remove those important details..regarding marquis and jeanne..)

Feeling a bit uneasy considering how much they rushed with this episode...
I am positive that they will reassemble the scenes in the later episodes... Though still...A bit afraid i guess...
I hope they dont ruin the cour...especially the emotional moments... and the big reveals later on..
however it does seem as though they are reassembling alot of stuff to fit the anime format. So yeah i am pretty sure they are gonna adapt those moments later on in the next episodes

They explained a lot of Chloé's history and what her past was like. I'm curious to know how she met Jean-Jacques and what will happen next.

A bit about Chloé this episode, must say getting to know what really her intentions are did helped to understand those abrupt actions of her till now. And seems like we'll have Vanitas confronting her next episode.

A lot has been removed from Chloe's past from the manga. But I am sure they'll bring them back, otherwise we won't get the full picture.

I liked how everything was presented, and I think they got some good people for the background art at certain shots

Bittersweet past of Chloe, quite surprised to see that she actually let her name be stolen on her own will. I really loved the part where she disobeyed her father's will and went after Jeanne and the scene in the flowerbed was so gorgeous and emotional. I really hope that Chloe and Jeanne can reunite again without one of the two dying.

Lesson to Noe, never mess with anyone's food, especially a Maiden's..

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the goal. But you can totally see it from a different point of view. Jean-Jacques and Chloé are both “hidden vampires” and they always lived in isolation. but again Jean-Jacques didn't need to blush this much! It could have been a moment of embarrassments but because it lasted for longer than a moment it looked like he was always longed to connect with others.

Waitwaitwait... What kind of translator doesn't put "First... Second(ly)... Third(Lastly)(or whatever)... "when it's called for??? I dunno, maybe I'm a TRADITIONALIST, but when a mofo says,"Hitotsu... Futatsu... Mittsu... ", there are some things you GOTTA do as a TRANSLATOR. There's always wiggle room, but this is...

sigh, yeah IATA.

Best episode so far.

Chloé's backstory was well done, and I really enjoyed how they adapted the more disturbing scenes. Something I've had a problem with for a few episodes of this show - the pacing - was much, much better in this one. Hopefully they keep it up.

Honestly, I'm probably in a minority when I say that I'm relieved they cut a certain scene from Chloé's backstory, as I don't think it would have fit with the tone the episode was going for. And while I love that scene in the manga, I don't think it would have worked as well in the anime for the above reason. But, if I had to guess, I'd say we will get that scene in the next episode since the information in it is pretty important.

The only thing I felt was missing during this episode was a few lines of inner monologue from Chloé, that further built up her character. Other than that, I think the episode was perfect!

This was a really interesting episode, seeing this new perspective of a vampire who willingly gave her name of Charlatan. Chloe’s had a very long and lonely life so I get why she chose to do that but I think she might regret it when she realises that Jeanne is actually alive

Oh boy the black shadow, yet again bringing a burden to Noe's past which made him doubt that Chloe is a part of the Beast of Gevauden and I wonder who is behind it. Louis was a fun guy but life went short for him and Now really cares about Louis, he even ruins the dinner table, d. finitely needs to control his emotion better. I really like Jean as a character, he's pretty calm and acts like someone who can protect whoever is lost like Noe and Murr and his interaction with Noe was so adorable especially when Noe is complimenting him for what he can do :) Learning about Herman d'Apchier and his families was quite a history of their family tree and Chloe is the only remaining. Thank god Chloe isn't a devil witch who would've snatched Jean away from Now but instead let Jean be more sociable. Apparently, the black shadow is the one who has changed Chloe and is Noe's burden so I wonder how they'll both make peace out of it. Yay we get to see Chloe's backstory, knowing more about his father's own study about the World Formula, and his death was truly a sad moment. That moment she felt in solitude and met August, her first friend, and their interaction is so hilarious but glad that both of them are trying to stop the struggle with vampires and humans, August even described briefly about the gruesomes, how tragic!

Glad both Chloe and August are on neither sides, and want to stop the struggle between both vampires and humans, and as they said, "To save the world for a better future". I gotta say Gevauden must be a perfect setup for this 2nd cour and something that Chloe can feel more comfortable in this environment. Jeanne is sooooo sooooo ADORABLE AAAAA she's too cute I can't stand her >u< she's too energetic and Chloe is the polar opposite of it lolol, their interaction is wholesome as heck and omg the blue flowers and its petal flowing to the sky is so beautiful, I love to whoever is responsible for this part, they just made Chloe feel more happier, awhh Chloe and Jeanne took seperate paths, I want more of their interaction ;3! Oh the black shadow appeared and August got injured, and I can't believe they have the audacity to animate something so comforting during this segment and sad that Chloe is yet again in solitude which let alone the Alteration Engine research. Now black shadow appeared again and is causing a burden to her, oh boy not another gruesome little Jeanne, this is a nightmare fuel but very well impressed in its psychological element. The light appeared and I wondered what's coming next. Great episode, this is more of a history wise which I personally like. I can understand Chloe's character a lot well. Also there were some panels from the manga that were skipped(?) but even so, I would be able to picture Chloe's solitude without having a single brain cell.

Uhm... since when did we start calling Charlatan, "Naenia"? I honestly can't remember.

Anyways, decent episode overall. We got to know more about Chloé's past but there are some details still missing. Like her encounter with Jean-Jacques and the fact of her accepting Charlatan's offer despite being aware that he has been messing with her mind for quite some time now.

I keep hearing this world formula thing wtf even is it? Now that I think about it I don't know much about this show's lore. Like wtf is neania? What kind of creature is she? And Chloe, did she not age because she was human before? And if that's so then how did that happen and why is she the first case of this being shown? You would think at least a few vampires would go around turn humans into the thing the fear/hate the most.

World formula is basis of all creation in the world of vanitas.. Basically manipulating the world formula which is the basis of everything that exists, one can perform supernatural feats..(like controlling elements, interfere with time for example the loop that chloe created through her malomen or walk through space(much like another dimension) like the "teacher" does)
If it still confuses you then you can read about it here as well

What naenia is basically a secret, a plot twist in the episodes ahead.
So world formula is a world that exists within the real world and forms the basis of everything that exists but cant be seen under normal circumstances
other then that u might want to know about what "true names of vampires" are
True names of vampires are their very existence..Something that defines their existence. So changing it means changing their core and doing so produces a malomen which is a disease and has many forms but is basically connected with manipulation the world formula. True names are also one of the greatest weaknesses of a vampire but also the basis of their true strength as well
And no chloe was not human..She was vampire at birth and no humans can not be converted into vampires directly without interfering with the formula at a very large scale which is the main reason why vampires exist in the first place..
About the last part
Well Vampires were born to humans as a result of that interference(in episode 4 season 1 it was mentioned in the beginning of the episode). But humans cannot be born to vampires since vampires by definition are superior to humans or superior humans in short in the world of vanitas so yeah...
Chloe doesnt age because she was psychologically trapped in the mentality of "changing back to a human" and well since she is a vampire, she has some degree of powers exclusive to her(they are hinted but not shown entirely yet, they are kinda like a mystery since only her malomen is shown) so its related to both of those reasons which are correlated (her psychology and that diirectly effecting her powers)..Also vampires can shapeshift as well and that is also due to manipulation of world formula..
I hope this helps
