Turkey's move to sent troops to stop an invasion sounds like a risky plan to me.

Once again, Mahmut's responsibility is highlighted for he has to negotiate with Turkish fighters. A nicely paced episode imo that doesn't need action to do the work.

Caterina is definitely someone to watch out for in this story given her status and relationship with Suleyman.

Dux Regulus of Scoglio surrendered to the Imperial Army because his country was too small to fight them. Fiore really don't like Torqyeans because of what they did to them. Mahmut couldn't ask Caterina any questions because she was playing them. She's clever. In the end, Cuore di Rumeriana decided not join the alliance, but instead make their own alliance to establish a third power in Rumeriana.

Caterine wants her own alliance (Sultanate of Rum) but will obviously backfire as they have no chance against either side.
The Altair version of the Ottoman Empire will emerge after this conflict presumably.

Fiore doesn't have an army, so why establishing an alliance? or my guess is Caterina is too wild. She might have some story twists in her mind.

Oh boy, things got complicated once again with a third power established. Now it's not just the Empire anymore that they'll have to deal with.

Only 7 episodes left, and the story is still brewing its pre-war arrangements. Im beginning to think this cant possibly be concluded by the end of the season. Hopefully this doesnt get the same treatment as Arslan Senki.

The third power won't even matter since they don't have the military strength. If they are lucky, they probably will reduce the Empire troops by 1/3 before they reach Mahmut's country. Mahmut probably too soft hearted to see them fall (it's risky too to let the Empire place right next to them when they win) so he will have to try and solve this.

Ok after the intro of Fiore, I really want to ask when does this show take place? Before Machiavelli or after him?

Hehe, Mahmut choked. I was looking for a moment like this though. Mahmut may be good, but he can't win them all.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any more intense, Caterina proclaims Rumeriana as the third power to go against the Empire and the Alliance. But they don't have any military power to challenge them both, so what would she be planning? Well Caterina is a "player" so maybe she might be able to make some "plays" to get the upper hand. Well...Fiore looks like a pretty rich country, and they pay mercenaries to fight for them...Bribery? Welp, gotta wait until next week...again!

And so, the plot thickens.

If there is one thing that history taught us, is that wars stop being easy to fight when you have to deal with more than one opponent, and the apparition of a third power changes A LOT this war's scenario. While they may not be powerful by themselves, every nation of Cuore di Rumeriana is rich enough to hire mercenaries as military forces. And now over thirty of them are in an aliance.

Their econonomic power is surely something to be feared, and if one side gets hold of that power, they have a lot more possibilities of winning the war.

Interesting development. Now we have a third power in the conflict.

So there is some history between Suleyman and Caterina. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

And a third power has risen.

Caterina definitely knows how to use the weapons of a woman ,wasn't expecting her to make such a move. With a third party involved things should get even more interesting, but I expect that new alliance to suffer a loss quick.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

I think Caterina is based on Caterina Sforza who lived at the same time as Machiavelli and (eventually) lived in Florence. It's a really interesting era, with a lot of good stories.

I guess it makes sense for Fiore they use Early Classical background music but it threw me off so much lol

Also shame on you animation, that was supposed to be the iconic Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo, but we got a lot of blur

Fun facts! (because we've reached the point where I can nerd out on architecture things). The Fiore depicted in Shoukoku is probably of the Renaissance period (from all the art and cultural development), iconic architecture seen is the Dome of Florence, Sistine Chapel ceiling, and a shame that the anime decided to cut out some panels naming some example artists and their work in the world that were references to actual famous ones. Also where the pashas have been meeting is also a real life building called the Hagia Sophia

Where they meet Caterina looks like the Uffizi.

Yah, a real Ottoman diplomat would have looked up at the dome, and thought: "nice dome, reminds me of Hagia Sophia, too many paintings though!"

This anime's a lot of fun, like fanfic for history readers.

It is a patchwork, most of them are 14xx-16xx. Though there are some notable outliners: 18th-century a.d, 11th-century a.d. and 2nd-century b.c.

Translators are to be held responsible. Listen to the audio, it clearly is フローレンス。
Which is Florence.

Hey, y'all inspired me to look it up. According to the official anime site, the city's name is 花の都(フローレンス) which is "city of flowers" in kanji and "Florence" in katakana.

In Italian the word for "flower" is "fiore," which might be what inspired that translation.

Historically, in classical Roman times the city of Florence's name was Florentia, meaning "flowering." In Italian the city is known as "Firenze" which in Japanese is フィレンツェ.

That was the unwisest decision they could ever make. I mean they have only mercenaries and mercenaries never fight for the country but money so they can easily give up. Poor Florence...
