Wow. You've been gone for almost a year now. I don't think you're coming back to MAL ;/

I definitely don't mind virtuous, patient, and kind characters, but ones that win purely based on some happenstance and not through their hard work or cleverness is super dull - no matter what personality they have. I can't compare it to Yona since I haven't seen it yet, but at least you got to see Yona practice and work hard at getting better -_- But overall it sounds like something I'd like watching. Bad/bland MCs is unfortunately common :(

Haha, I was at work when I found out about Gintama on Google Chat with my sister and she found the news on Reddit and shared it with me. Needless to say, it made my day.

Let me know when you start watching Banana Fish, I'll be interested to hear what you think about it. I'm pretty opinionated about it with things I love about it and things I don't like lol. Overall I'm a fan though.

I'm trying to wait for the Mo Dao Zu Shi translations to finish, but not sure I can hold out that long. Whenever I'm reading something online that's hard to remember where I left off, I just book mark the latest chapter I read and update the bookmark as I go.

I've actually wondered about Double Decker! People seemed to think it was a solid, fun show. If I don't watch it while it's airing, I'll probably watch it afterwords. Do you have to watch T&B first? I haven't watched that yet.

Too bad about the other couples. Isn't it a manga though? Maybe there's chapters the anime didn't cover that wrap everything up.

Not sure about Kamiya Hiroshi. I only watch a few airing ones, I know he was Levi in Attack on Titan's new season at least.

Yes!!!! Natsume movie! It did rather well in Japan. Now we have the long, painful wait until someone uploads an English translation somewhere.

Dakaretai Otoko> Okay seriously, how do such manga get to be made into a series, when there's SO much better content out there?? Is this series even popular in Japan? I'd never heard of it or its mangaka before, and this is coming from someone who's fairly well informed of what happens in the world of BL smh

lmao I'd never realized Yarichin hasn't been released as of yet? Then where are these Insta account getting their screen grabs from? I'm surprised. And why do you have your doubts whether or not the series will be released online? But it's not that surprising tho - the Free: Starting Days dub was released over 3 weeks ago,and it's no where to be found on the internet. I dunno why. I just think it's best to watch the sub this one time around bc my hopes of watching the movie in dub diminish every passing day :/

Oof, I though Ten Count would be 12 eps? Or at least 10 eps? It has enough content in it tbh. But if it's a DVD release then I'm guessing it'll be explicit content. What even is the criteria for releasing something as a series, v/s an OVA v/s a direct DVD release? Seeing how Ten Count is SO much popular than the other BL shows this season.

So do you even want to watch anime, or are you exhausted of the medium?
Yeah, I have to watch:
Free s3
Mo Dao
Banana Fish
Yarichin
Dakaretai Otoko (altho it looks rapey so I'm not as excited for it tbh)

Wondering when 10 Count is gonna come out.

Thoughts? https://www.polygon.com/2018/10/18/17996028/funimation-leaving-crunchyroll-vrv-streaming

I knew that about Arslen too :) Makes me want to watch it more, but I think the "shonen" version of the story is the one that got animated, right? Not that shonen is bad (I'm trash for a good shonen), but there's just so few serious political fantasy/sci-fi stories it's a shame. Why is the lead irritating? Is he stupid or something?

Interesting about his inspirations. I usually favor romantic/introspective music, so I'm in disagreement with him there too lol. Though, it's hard to compare them since the OVA OST is literally one classic after the next. I've heard the main theme and it does have some rather nice parts. I think the remake's OST is pretty average, nothing special or horrible as a whole, but the OVA just made such a smart choice by choosing all those classic songs that it feels a bit unfair to the remake.

Yes about the light novels! I have up till book 7 so far. I just keep collecting them as birthday/Christmas gifts lol.

Yeahhh about Gintama. You might be waiting a long time if you wait for the story to finish. This season is not going to finish it. The manga was scheduled to end in JUMP a few weeks ago and it "ended" with a very Gintama-style joke saying it's moving to a new magazine (some JUMP spin-off) to finish - but who knows if it'll really finish lol. I was beside myself I was so happy it wasn't really ending.

Banana Fish is really good. I read the manga a few years ago, and the adaptation is doing a great job with it so far. You can tell the crew really cares about the story rather than just slapping something together.

I haven't read Mo Dao Zu Shi, but I want to so badly. I'm waiting on the show to end or the translators to finish translating it. I love it so far. It always feels like it's 5 minutes long, and I can't believe it's already over. It's completely sucked me in. Have you read it?

Glad I'm not the only one who feels "meh" about the upcoming season. Maybe there will be a surprise show but everything just looks okay. You'll have to let me know if you find something good.

I love Kino no Tabi! I've seen the older version and the remake. I personally prefer the older version. I feel like it explored more interesting themes and ideas whereas the remake feels more heavy on the action. I liked the episodes featuring Kino, but I wasn't as crazy about that guy and the little girl episodes. Both are very much worth watching though. Which version do you like better?

You have very good taste lol. I watched the first season of Arakawa Under the Bridge not too long ago. I really enjoyed it. Tomokazu Sugita is probably the funniest VA. Takehito Koyasu (Takasugi) is also in Arakawa (the big, blond nun/preacher guy who was probably my fav character). And of course there's Kamiya Hiroshi. All 3 of those guys are some of my favs.

So then you have one job and one volunteer work, right? Or is your notice period still going on at that startup?
Must be hectic; let's hope things slow down for you soon enough.

What have you been enjoying this season? As is always the case with me, I'm waiting for my fav seasonals to air before I can watch them, including Free, Banana Fish and Mo Dao.
-Sonal- Sep 26, 2018 6:52 AM
Well, I know the social media bit doesn't take much time, esp since you can schedule your posts on platforms like FB.
Ah, is there no way to cut back on your volunteer project? And then why have a job with a start up if you landed your dream job with another company?
PaladinAlchemist Sep 25, 2018 7:13 PM
I don't remember what order they had stuff come back in. I've used the forms occasionally, but I probably haven't posted in them in over a year lol. It's too toxic and I just don't have the time.

I think Boku no only has 1 episode left :) How is Arslan Senki? It's been on my to-watch list forever, but I've never gotten around to it. I actually haven't watched Cells at Work, but it looks like something worth checking out. It seems there's always 1 anime a season I didn't start watching that looks good - and this season it's Cells at Work. Maybe I'll watch once it's done airing.

I think they're planning on 3 LOTGH remake movies at least. I'd like to see the story the whole way through. Only time will tell though. I don't think Sawano composed the OST? Just the opening? I could be wrong. But all his stuff sounds the exact same so I'd actually be impressed he actually showed some range for once if he composed the LOTGH OST.

This season has Boku no and Gintama new seasons of course :) But new stuff is Banana Fish (I read the manga years ago and I'm so happy with the adaptation so far!) and Mo Dao Zu Shi is also pretty good. I've got some stuff to watch next season, but not anything I'm overly excited for really. Though, I'm kind of excited to hate-watch Bakumatsu. It's taking historical figures I love and turning them into pseudo reverse harem fodder -_- What about you? Watching anything good right now?
PaladinAlchemist Sep 18, 2018 4:52 PM
I think only a few days ago they got the whole site back up. I was wondering when/if it would ever come back too. I started actually using the Anime-Planet account I created forever ago lol.

Hero Academia is just as solid as usual, though they just wrapped up an arc that isn't really my favorite, so I'm glad we're on to more exciting things - though the season is about to end :(

I agree with everything you said about LOTGH remake. It was much better than I expected. I like the OVA more, but the remake is decent in its own right. Yang and Reinhard were perfectly cast and I really like Junichi as Oberstien too actually. Initially I was worried because his voice is too sexy for Oberstien, but he totally nailed it. And I wholly agree about the soundtrack. It's so generic and not a stand-out at all. It's weird because it seems like they paid a lot of detail to everything else and ran out of time and were like "oh no, a soundtrack!" and just slapped it on lol. Maybe it seems worse since the OVA used all classical masterpieces and there's very little that can compare.

3 jobs? What?? I'm surprised you even manage the time to login to MAL.
What happened to your dream job??
PaladinAlchemist Sep 5, 2018 8:09 PM
I know right? MAL really dropped one for a little while there. They still have that message up there saying not everything is up yet but I can't think of anything left. Who knows.

Oh sounds cool with the Vigilante series. I think Academia addresses some drawbacks of their hero culture, but seeing more of it would be interesting. I thought the stuff with Endeavor recently in the manga also addressed some problems with their hero society, if you read those.

True about their hygienic culture. But that means you know everything will be clean when you visit. I stayed in cheap hostels and they were perfectly clean so I personally like that side of their culture lol.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
