Comedy with surreal setting. Putting sci-fi elements into the realistic environment. Can be looked as both a pure comedy show with action sidekicks, or animated action show with certain degree of comedy. Must admit that putting comedy in that kind of setting is also a lot of fun. If you only have experienced school-life love comedy then it's about time you try something else.

Both series are about young men meeting and coming to live with an alien (coincidentally both aliens have long blond hair and kind of similar character designs). Although Arakawa is more comedy focused, the comedic moments of Level E feel quite similar, as do Arakawa's dramatic parts.

Both are laugh-your-stomach-out comedies. Main characters are alike. Prince Baka and prince Patalliro are real trolls. Kraft-san resembles Bancoran and they are both mocked at by their princes.

Both feature aliens and space travel to some degree. Level E is more focused around the Earth, though some of its story-lines involve space. Both are lighthearted and funny at times.

They both center around aliens on earth with a mostly humorous take on it. Level C has a very unique and bright style which sometimes take somewhat dark turns. It also features an overly optimistic alien who annoys his human host.

Both are comedies with high levels of absurdity

Both of these storylines revolve around the subject of Aliens. In one, Level E, the aliens definatly exist and in the other, the existance of Aliens and other such things is in question. Both stories also revolve around characters with wonderful, crackish personalities.

The animation style and general feel of the series seems similar. Both plots put a paranormal conspiracy story right in the middle of a tight knit community of unusual characters and tell the story using quirky humor with a mysterious overtone.

Both have a tale wherein the protagonist gets lost in a flight of fancy, a fantastical world limited only by their imagination, although the locus of control is different in both series. In one it is imposed by whims that move to the rhythm of comedic logic.

Similar styles of humor-- mainly dealing in the absurd, crude, and occasional parody. Somewhat retro character designs that avoid the standard moe expectations, and both make good use of colors in their art styles.

Both have similar main character (Baka/Kuranosuke) of an ambivalent sexuality and a rebel attitude towards his (very political) family heritage. A great part of both plots is main characters idea to spend a day in an entertaining way... with some random people (students/otaku)... while not being welcome (at all) Yet both remain within their very gender (seinen/josei)

Mahoujin is wholly a parody of an RPG which Level E has an arc of. In both animated counterparts of videos games feature, with both utilizing humour in the same sort of teasing manner.

Both series is full with stupidity humor and random comedy joke.

1 - Both animes are Similar humor. 2 - Parody and situational comedy are in the first plan at story. 3 - Cleaver and different comedy intelligence is the main material of both animes.

A straight-laced guy crosses paths with a very eccentric man. Hilarity, plot twists, and genre-bending antics ensue.

Both anime are lighthearted takes on an alien visiting the earth, and his gradually developing relationships with the humans around him.

Really funny MC with an "special hability" each one. Really good gunshots by Vash, really good brain for Baka Prince.

they are both about weird beings trying to live on planet earth, which isnt very easy for them. Both are very weird and surreal :D

Hunter X Hunter and Level E had a same mangaka and the main character of Level E Prince Baka also shared the roles for the Character of Hunter x Hunter (2011), Hisoka Morrow and of course their had same seiyuu, Namikawa Daisuke. If you like Hunter X Hunter(2011),you should watch Level E because both had the same theme shounen and Level E had some comedy On the anime too.

Both are comedic and involves aliens races trying to live on earth. Though "To-love-ru" centers on love struggles of a human protagonist, Level E is about aliens living out their lives without disrupting human society.

Both will mindfuck to death if you're not prepared for it. You will not be prepared for it.

If you're the type of person who is looking for a good trolling author experience then I suggest both series. Though they may differ in theme and humor they are cleverly written to trick the audience expectations of narrowed expected events.

Comedies where the MCs have supernatural powers
report Recommended by MJSpice
Both are comedies and one of the main leads is an alien.

Similar in terms of animation although Level E is more polished & both deal with the supernatural.

In both of these Anime, you don't know what the main characters are going to do next. In Level E, you have a highly intelligent alien who becomes bored with life and causes trouble, and in Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, you have four girls who lack intelligence who try hard to help people, thus causing trouble.

Both human protagonists are living with an alien. Both aliens tend to annoy the human at all times. The setting is quite similar as they are both set in a rural area. And also, both have aliens living among the human populace except that in NieA Under 7, everybody is aware of the extraterrestrial existence due to the antennae.

Neuro & Baka are both crazy sadists who flick from innocent to evil in moments. I find myself watching one and thinking of the other. While one is a demon and the other is an alien, they are both other-worldy psychos. And the quirkyness they bring is very similar too.

Aliens exist in both plots (albeit, with the theme being even stronger in Level E), but, more than that, both ordinary humans and extraordinary beings are thrust into strange situations. Particular story arcs feel especially similar to each other. Also, story arcs are, typically, spurred from the main character of each (both of whom are, also, extremely gifted, but eccentric) falling into a spell of boredom. Both stray from the typical genres (or, at least, the traditional execution of such genres) and have excellent humor.

Aliens living on Earth in disguise, and the problems that crop up with that.

this is made by the same author and artist of this anime. XD It's really interesting like this anime. XD

Very similar, except that in Level E it's aliens and in Hakaba Kitarou it's ghosts/demons. In both shows one day suddenly someone appears which changes their lives and suddenly everywhere around them aliens/demons pop out of nowhere. And all this is presented in a similarly over-the-top, crazy and random way.

Level E is definitely more serious. Lol I never thought I'd say that. Anyway, both shows are ridiculously funny and make you laugh until your sides hurt. They're really just stupid. If you try Level E you need to watch a few episodes before you just write it off. It also has a great ending. YYO is much more random. But I think if you want supernatural laughs then are just dumb these shows are for you.

DMC, what can you say about this show? It's weird nasty and frickin hilarious. Level E can get a little gory at times but I think if you like the dumb funny in either you'll at least enjoy the other.

- Unconventional family humor - Science fantasy elements - Fish out-of-water lead character
