Well both are about baseball and they have several other similarities; however, i don't want to give anything away so you'll just have to watch to find out!! ^_^

Both main heros have similar traits and pitch straight balls only. Both shows have a good humour.

Sports are entertainting.

Okay, the only real similarity is that they're both about pitchers in baseball. Honda (Major) is the very antithesis of Mihashi (Oofuri), but if you like baseball -- or sports animes in general -- they are both good/great shows in their own way.

Major is a baseball anime and Haikyuu!! is about volleyball. In both series the main characters are aiming for and the passion they show is very addicting.

Enjoy watching people play a sport and get better and better at it? Hajime no Ippo and Major (all seasons) both give you exactly this. While Goro (Major) is more on the "genius" side, and Ippo is more on the "hard working" side, they both strive toward their goals with extreme passion. If you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

Actually, the only thing both series have in common are the protagonists, who both play baseball by throwing nothing but fastballs. The most obvious difference is, that Major was pretty much only about some overly cheery guy, who is the best anyway, gathers some friends and gets them into his hobby - and everyone's performances increases. Touch, which is way older anime, also many of these elements, yet hasn't a story that is as unsurprising as Major. Apart from the romance part, which still is kind of cute. So if you're looking for another baseball anime, (which, imo, surpasses Major by far,) with a  read more

Both are inspired by a death of someone close to them to become stronger in their sport. They also both show the main character as he is growing up with his sport through elementary, middle, and high school with Major going farther.

Baseball anime, both main characters are elite in baseball and take teams from nothing to victory...

Both Anime's Are Sports Related but where Honda (major) is a genius in baseball, Sena (eyeshield) is just a beginner in american football, both anime's follow the characters showing both strengths and weakness with both animes showing team spirit, friendship and so on..

Very similar animes in how they present themselves. - Great sports being played out almost every episode. - The strive to get better at the sport. - Love interest. - Comedy moments. Both are great animes. Watch Major through all the seasons to see a coming of age story. Baby Steps seems to stay in High School for now.

Both shows start out with bright eyed youths and show how they become masters of their chosen sport. Both shows have a progression through years (and years!) of work instead of seasons and cover a large chunk of a character's lifespan.

These anime aren't similar in every way but they are both sports anime with an overpowered and reckless main character. Someone who likes Tsubasa (especially as he is in the Middle School tournament) will probably also like Goro.

If you're into sports anime that have genius MCs, fathers who were pros, and follow the MC as he matures through each of his battles/tournaments, if you enjoy Major, you should definitely check out Initial D. Initial D is a bit older but it still has its charm in terms of exciting showdowns, great music during the suspenseful moments, and love interests. It's also nice that both are long series so you can watch as much as you want, and they both have satisfying endings. A major difference, besides the sport - Major is baseball, and Initial D is street racing, is the personality of the  read more

Firstly they are both about baseball and although the main characters are different in how they approach baseball, they always win in the end

past trauma influencing the protagonists`s performance and the protagonists trying to get over it by trying new things - this is what ties both the anime "Ashita no Joe" and "Major" together. So if u enjoyed ANJ and looking forward to a similar anime, watch major and also vice-versa.

Similar Story Progression One is set about characters baseball journey and other is set about journey to find Vinland SPOILERS: Amazing Character Parallels Goro Shigeno - Thorfinn Honda Shigeharu - Thors Shigeno Hideki - Thorkell Joe Gibson - Askellad Joe Gibson Jr - Canute

They're both similar because they're about talented little kids with big dreams and having teammates that work hard for them. The main characters try to scrape by with a last-minute put together team to fight against the best team. They also can't do anything by themselves as Goro is a pitcher so he relies on the catcher and Endo is the goalie so he needs Goenji to score. I might be wrong since no one else has made a recommendation for this but this is my opinion after seeing all of Major and 2 episode of Inazuma Eleven.

Both sports oriented anime, which starts with a character having to overcome something. Both are great animes and staples of the sports genre

A classical baseball anime.

Both are about people playing baseball, while the Major series focuses on the MC's entire life, they're both about pitchers that are the best in their league. Catchers in both series also struggle to catch the pitches sometimes.

while Kyojin no hoshi may have older art you can see the influence that that Major takes from Kyojin no Hoshi in writing style yes while you could say that it takes more from Adachi baseball stories in style the goes Adachi takes his big influence from this story like all baseball manga/anime take a bit of its influence. on the other side of the coin Kyojin  read more

Am surprised that no one mentioned it yet. Yes, Major is not about soccer but baseball. However, the main connection lies in main heroes backgrounds. Both of them lose someone very dear to them who were really good at sports they were doing but never reached the dream they wanted. Now it is main heroes jobs to take over that dream and move forward in their sport career.

baseball anime too but,in this case, taishou yakyuu musume, shows girls playing. The fact that it’s set in 1925 Japan, which, women should become housewives. And first they have to organise the team. This anime shows how these girls struggle to learn baseball and in the process lots of funny stuffs happens to them.

Both concentrated on the life a person aiming to be a pro in some sport. In Yawara, the female is unwilling to play judo but is very skilled at it whereas in Major, the protagonist has a passion for baseball and will eventually as the title suggests, play in the Majors. Major follows the protagonist from childhood till adulthood while Yawara starts from high school life to adulthood. The love aspect is stronger in Yawara whereas in Major there is barely or slightly any love life involved (only one can be sensed but it doesn't affect greatly on the protagonist's game play as much as  read more

Moshidora is based on Drucker's management book, but if the games and drama that the series presented got your attention, so try Major! The first half of the season has some high quality drama, and the second half brings all the baseball action that Moshidora only gave a taste to the fans.

Although Captain Tsubasa(all series) is about soccer and Major(all series) is about baseball, there main characters are quite similiar. Goro and Tsubasa both love the sport they play. They both are outgoing and competitive. They are not afraid of getting hurt, while playing and can be quite reckless sometimes. They also have similar supporting characters. To list a few----- The cooperative Best friend/ combo: Toshiya Sato (Major),Taro Misaki (Tsubasa). Then there's the tomboy love interest: Shimizu Kaoru(Major), Sanae Nakazawa (Tsubasa). The famous older player they admire/ want to play a match against: Joe Gibson (Major), Roberto Hongo(Tsubasa). Although Major is more realistic, has better quality drawing,  read more

Both male protagonists are a "genius" in their specified sport. However, they start off hopeless and grow with each game and each new encounter. Both of them are also very similar in character (hot-headed, dedicated, etc). Character development is evident in both but Major emphasizes this element more with each season (6 in total) as you see the protagonist Goro grow from a baby to an adult. Both contain similar themes and have a mutual love interest. If you enjoy the sport, you'll love the anime.

Both are sports anime. Major is about baseball and Captain Tsubasa is about football. Both start with the male protagonist's childhood and continue his transition to adulthood. Like any other sports anime, both of them care about friendship, teamwork, and rivalry. Even though they both are long anime, you can watch them without getting bored.

Both of these anime revolve around sports, (Major is baseball, Whistle is soccer), but both of these anime also have that amazing quality where they have so much more to offer than just sports. There's a lot of amazing character growth and development in each anime, and I found Gorou and Shou to be kind of similar in their motivation and in their histories.
