Sengoku Basara

Hotblooded crazy samurai and ninja being all hotblooded and crazy in humorous over the top fashion. You expected something serious and vaguely realistically historical? Not here, baby. (Sengoku Basara does hold the distinction of actually being enjoyable however) 

Both have the same characters, albeit BASARA is male-centric while Otome (as the name states) is female-centric. The story lines are more or less the same though Otome includes comedy that is lacking in BASARA, and is more casual and light with some added hints of yuri. 

Though in terms of plot/settings Basara and TTGL are nowhere similar, they both feature over-the-top action that suspends belief and kicks logic to the curb, not to mention they have characters that are full of manly high spirited charisma.  

There is war. There are kingdoms. There are leaders. There are GARness and EXTREME fights. Cao Cao looks like Nobunaga. So, yes. both series are about wars. Both set in different countries and time. 

Both focus on the Sengoku (Warring States) Era and feature a number of historical figures with major changes made to them. Sengoku Basara features ridiculous weapons and personality traits among the various famous generals and other figures, and has a general theme of "turn off your brain and enjoy the over-the-top badassery, instead of questioning things." Oda Nobuna no Yabou features a number of genderswitched historical figures, such as the title character, Oda Nobuna, and also employs the use of a boy from the future accidentally landing in the past and accidentally killing another historical figure so he ends up trying to keep history from getting too screwed up by helping out Nobuna. read more 

Over the top, hot blooded manliness at it's best. If you watch shows for men who test their souls in battle, then this is for you. 

Both have tons of over-exaggerated super-powered hot-headed battles between red and blue in a civil war about young warriors trying to take over the world, plus, the main villains are considered to be God-like and they're both related to Honnoji Also, the music of both shows are made by the same person 

Similar but Different ♥ A perfect combination to describe them differing from any other samurai story. - Both series evolve around an awesome and epic samurai period. - Of course, battles with swords wont miss in either of them. - Main characters have the same badass side in both series, obviously. - Now, it may be not be important for someone but i think is another good point to mention: the main characters (Mugen and Masamune) have been both played by the same voice actor (Nakai Kazuya) which makes high up the level of their charism even more. Okay, all the above stuff maybe can be found in little doses also in some few other anime samurai themed but, here the part where Sengoku Basara and Samurai Champloo will surely differ by any other serie: - They both have "something" that is definitely not common for their epoch or else not common at all. Samurai Champloo is litterally hip-hop themed (from the opening, to some dress or some scenes) and even features modern other stuff (like the baseball or graffiti episodes) -- while Sengoku Basara is definitely over the limit of the reality, fight scenes in there are not the "typical-anime-fight-scenes" at all, plus it also features pretty modern stuff like can be "Gundam"-robots like. So, even if the main plots are different (we have a girl that needs to find a person and due to this starts to travel with two samurais in Samurai Champloo // and on the other side we have Sengoku era with obvious big and incredible battles in Sengoku Basara), for all the above said things they do share a lot of similar stuff and style, so i do advice do watch both :3 read more 

Both are adaptation of a popular hack'n'slash games about Sengoku Period. Both have Sanada Yukimura as a one of the main characters. Although Sengoku Musou is a bit more close to the history. 

These two series aren't very similar at all except that both have quite a lot of fighting scenes. Sengoku Basara has a samurai theme with historical names while Senran Kagura has a high school ninja theme with a bunch of ecchi added in. The reason why Senran Kagura reminded me of Sengoku Basara is because Homura is like a female Date Masamune, wielding 6 swords the same way and her personality is a bit similar too. xD 

Both have: - a colorful historical Japan setting with samurai - rule of cool elements in action sequences - epic music by Hiroyuki Sawano - a funny guy who sometimes speaks English (if watching subbed) - a lot of style and expressive characters These are both a fun watch if you don't care very much about everything making sense, especially if it's easy for you to get engaged in a well-animated show filled with emotion. 

Gangs, Leaders, Clans! Both anime have 3+ clan tribe leaders with rivalry and has one wicked gang tribe leader that everyone wants to kill or be friends with. Blue Vs. Red conspiracy also happens in both of the anime.  

What do these two series have in common you ask? Well, great animation, great writing, great characters, great action... And a whole truck load of homosexual subtext that might as well be text. Both series are living in transparent closets and it's amazing to watch. You can call it bromance if you want but...eh, you're not fooling anyone. Both of these series are awesome, with incredible traits that make them quality anime regardless of whether you like practically-BL, so you can pretend the male main characters aren't in love if it makes you feel better, just watch them. War, clans/kingdoms fighting for power in Japan (Sengoku Period) and China (Warring States), extreme fights and a struggle to unify the land under one ruler. 

The story in Sengoku Basara and DOGS is very different from each other but both feature cool action scenes and pull you in! Also Badou in DOGS instantly reminded me of Date Masamune in Sengoku Basara somehow - I guess the main reason is the eyepatch. But both also have this kind of awesome charismatic, confident personality when fighting and talk in a very funny/entertaining way, mixing in some English here and there. 

A lot of fighting and main characters from the edo period. I do feel that Drifters focuses more on tactics in battle.  

Both feature manly men fighting with superhuman strength in over the top battles in legendary lands where panty sniveling weaklings do not form a major part of the male population (at least none are featured) I think both titles can be recommended to manime fans. 

I can't really say I understood the story of these titles. But I enjoyed them both for similar reasons. The kind hearted and somewhat dumb protagonists are maybe somewhat cliché. But the crazy megalomaniac antagonists were pretty fun. And I loved the action scenes. Where a man can dry the sea by a beat of his fist (Sengoku Basara) or a woman can pull a part of the moon toward the earth surface with a chain (Symphogear)... I'm loving it I recommend these titles for some nonsensical over the top action. 

Sengoku Basara seems to at times either inflate characters to such unrealistic proportions that the result might not be as expected (which might be due to relying on an arc for episodes, where other anime like Inuyasha tend to go on at length and so it isn't a burst as such). 

If you *really* like taking Sengoku Era history to the extreme, you might enjoy Sengoku BASARA. Filled with historical references but flamboyantly contemporary, Sengoku BASARA is an outrageous anime that will have fans laughing and crying in the same episode. 

These are both over the top historical fictions based around samurai. Sengoku Musou is not nearly as wild, but it is based on the same time period even sharing several characters between the series. 

Both are over-the-top shonen action series based to some degree on feudal Japanese society, but with heavy anachronisms. Both are heavy with homoerotic subtext. Both have somewhat similar art styles 

similar genres. the only difference is that Sengoku Basara involves super powers. while Shura no Toki keeps it simple. 

Swords, boys, light beams, intense action choreography, Japanese history, and both are based on games... these two shows are surprisingly similar. Sengoku Basara has a brighter palette and a more positive feel, whereas Katsugeki is much darker. Outstanding action in both shows, Katsugeki being the more polished of the two with very good utilisation of CG. Neither are exactly shows to watch for plot or character depth, but if you're a fan of the games or are looking for some fast paced shiny action fuelled by shouting, give Basara or Katsugeki a try. 

Both are in the same Edo era. Both have major lodes of bishouen. Both have samurai warriors. And the artwork is similar. 

Both of these Animes take place in Sengoku Era, both has the same characters. 

Both Scryed and Sengoku Basara share the constant fight to get stronger, while boasting good quaility and story. Within both the main characters fight each other to keep getting stronger. Moral Lines become blurred in both stories; friends become enemies and enemies become friends. Both featuring hot blood. Sengoku Basara boasts "HORSE MOTORCYCLES OF GLORY AND ACTION PACKED PUNCHES OF NUCLEAR PROPORTION". 

Samurai. Manly. Epic. Funny. Both are amazing series that dare to go beyond the impossible and provide an infinite amount of entertainment. 

Both are Tales of War with their own twists. 

In my opinion, that's what Ikkitousen should've been. Re-telling of famous war periods (the Three Kingdom era for Ikkitousen and the Sengoku era for Sengoku Basara). Different factions that beat the crap out of each other but with LOTS of action and more exciting fights in the case of Sengoku Basara. However, there's not as much fanservice as in Ikkitousen. And Sengoku Basara is pretty much GAR and over the top. 

So much Engrish, SO MUCH.. arguably the most entertaining aspect of both shows.

Same style of "all-out" comedy and fights but both still rely on a serious story-line to carry the series. 

Koihime Musou is basically the same thing as Sengoku Basara. The few differences are that in Koihime Musou it is all girls and also in Koihime Musou the "special" moves aren't extremely over the top like they are in Basara but still over the top. 

Both these anime forgo much logic choosing to take the path of fun ridiculous campyness over srs bsns realism. Not for those unable to allow themselves a good time, but sure to be enjoyed by the rest of us.  

Both are packed with action but also light humour in between. They aren't too deep but oh so enjoyable! And they leave you with a positive feeling after you watch them. I also found that the two main characters resemble each other greatly.  

Both are they set in a historical era, with lots of wars and fights for freedom. The main characters are leaders/great warriors, but in Sengoku Basara they're more centered on the personal fighting than in Utawarerumono. They give off the same feeling and they can both be a bit boring sometimes, but if you liked one of them you'll most likely like the other one. 

Sengoku Basara is based off of the Sengoku era of Japan while Koutetsu Sangokushi is based off of the Three Kingdom era of China. The main focus of both shows is that the country is at civil war and is looking for a new leader to unify it. They both take a twist on the (historical) characters of the show and adds over the top fantasia to them. Although Koutetsu Sangokushi has more drama than Sengoku Basara, it still has plenty of action scenes to satisfy. 

Both are about different groups with GAR, charismatic leaders trying to seize control of a given area. Lots of violence (more sex in Tokyo Tribe 2) and crazy, over the top fight scenes. No real difference other than one is set in modern Tokyo and the other in late 16th century Japan. (Sengoku Basara is a bit lighter and slightly less twisted.) 

both have loads and loads of characters, and with ludicrous amount of ridiculously awesome action. 

These anime are so similar it starts off a little different but starting from the second half of the first season, Kingdom is so much like sengoky basara. you got armies fighting to conquer the land in a feudal age. Only a hand full of fighters in every army matters and everyone else is a worthless peon. The fights and characters are way over the top with the peons constantly being blown away by the fighters that matter. Id say it kingdom is a little better than sengoku basara, since theres a little more strategy in their wars.
